Old English Mastiff Discussions / Re: FREE FEEDING OR NOT???
« on: September 19, 2005, 07:51:40 am »
Well if a female is pregnant or nurseing you should free feed since it takes more than normal to give the nutrients they need. Also depends on what type of dog food you use. Some are better than others. Also by feeding more than once or keeping food avaliable can cut the chances down of them  getting bloat especially on big dogs.

Well I dont let my children ride my dogs. My husband held my daughter over one of my dogs while takeing a picture but there was no pressure on the dog. We have told them you can't ride them they aren't made for that. I have had more problems with children gettin on and off the school buses. Boys were cruel to my dogs by throwing rocks through my fence and scrapeing sticks. I did get on to the children and so did my aunt who lives next to me. I have seen some issues with my male great dane towards young boys which i have had to work with him on. Sometimes cruel children can affect a dogs behavior and personality.

Breeding Questions & Information / Re: ??? for breeders
« on: September 19, 2005, 07:31:16 am »
Well as I see it. It all depends on the dogs in question. I have 3 english mastiffs and 2 great danes. Which none were breed younger than 2yrs of age but closer to 3yrs. No matter what health checks you do or testing there still can be problems with a litter. I had a litter of 14 which they all passed away from being toxic and it was the whole pregnancy that was toxic and nothing could be done. She was even tested for other diseases after the problem happened and the vet gave her a clean bill of health. I also dont believe in inbreeding that can cause more health problems. I have heard about breeders doing that because there dogs are pure bred and had vet testings done. To me that just makes the chances of something going wrong since every breed has some problems that arise.

Anything Non-Dog Related / Re: Do you have other pets?
« on: July 28, 2005, 11:12:06 am »
Well I live in a small town in Texas. I have 6 dogs, 3 english mastiffs Simba,Jai,and Hera, 2 great danes Luke and Daisy, 1 mutt Duke. The only dog that is fixed is Duke all the others area AKC registered. No wonder I have 2 litters of pups due in Sept. I also have a ferret named Gizmo. No cats had to get rid of my cat that I found at the river before the dogs killed him. Daisy decided to carry him in her mouth like a rag doll.
