Kuvasz Discussions / Out for a hike
« on: December 06, 2005, 07:24:01 pm »
I took my pups...Mike and K2...out in the woods for a hike today.  Mike was in heaven...we had his frisbee along and Dan would throw it waaaaaaay out in the field....Mike would go flying out there  and get it and bring it back just to play keep away.  Mike loves to run way far ahead and turn around and plan an attack coming back just grazing you as he flies by and runs way back and turns around and does it again and again and again.  Well, we came to a small river with a beaver dam.  Mike has never paid attention to it, but today for some reason he went running right over to it...maybe for a drink of water, but he leapt over the damn onto thin ice..........a nd yup.........he broke through!!!!!!!  I was so scared.  He took three giant leaps and the ice kept breaking!!!  The monster finally made it onto thicker ice, but now he was soaking wet and it was 15 degrees out and we were over 3 miles from the car!!!  The goof ball just kept right on playing....it never phased him!!  I could have strangled the silly pup!!!  We shall see just how much energy he has tonight at obedience training!!

You guys have GOT to check out Gooby booties at Bowsa Wowsa......... . They are waaay cool!!  But pricey! They would be awesome at packed snow...no sure about deep snow.  My pup is really having trouble with snow packing in her paws too....to the point of bleeding the last time.

Well, Dan and I got married on Nov. 12 and I discovered she was in heat 2 days later...so she was already in heat on the 12th and she just finished a couple of days ago. Seemed like forever.  She will be spayed before the next heat....defini tely.  Although I am nervous about putting any of my pups under the knife...the last time I did it was a little lhasa apso that never recovered from a simple surgery....I have been hesitant ever since.

And life is good again.  Little Miss K2 is finally out of heat and Mike is starting to settle back down again.  This week when I took him to obedience training he was soooo lazy that even the instructor said he was just dragging.  I thought at first it must have been the romp in the woods with them earlier and then I remembered that he had spent the day harassing my poor precious pup.  But, she is no longer interested and he is beginning to forget...THANK GOODNESS!!!  Now my biggest challenge is to get something for K2's little paws....they were actually bleeding the last time we were out...she won't be going in the woods anymore unless I can come up with a solution for the sore paws.  But,  Mike will still be going......he has soooooo much fun out there...it is great therapy for me just to see him having so much fun....he runs and runs and runs.  The only problem we have is getting him into the car.  It has become a game with him.  Catch me if you can kinda game.  Well, we just start up the car and start leaving without him....he runs and jumps in and i shut the door.  The last time though he kept looking at the car as if he was trying to figure it out....you know that Kuvasz look!!!!!

Help me out guys.  I know this is for big paws only, but my kuvasz' little buddy K2 the scottie needs to have booties that fit....could anyone direct me to a site for little dogs so maybe someone there knows of booties that STAY ON!!  I suspect that last winter she frostbit one of her paws while on a winter hike and this year she isn't tolerating alot of time in the snow.

Ahhhhh....Life is good.....so says Mikey and K2.........the y BOTH got empty peanut butters jars today....How often does THAT happen.  Usually only one gets emptied at a time, but today the reduced fat AND the superchunk was done.   Good time had by both!!!  A big jar and a little jar...for a big boy and a little girl.
