Puppies are soooo cute, so I want to say Puppy as well!!!   :D ;D

But then my brain reminds me of all the work that is involved with puppies:  the potty training; dealing with the biting/nipping phase; the chewing phase; the I'm housebroked but occasionally have an accident phase.

So, having just adopted out our 6 rescue puppies at 8 weeks of age, I was just reminded that while puppies are adorable, squishy faced, sweeties that just melt your heart, I'm really really glad that I don't have one right now.   :P

LOL that is what I keep telling myself. They are sooo much work. I prefer 7 months and up. Of course I am partial to labs (Harley being one) so I would say go for it, but are you hesitating because it is a puppy? You could always look at Lab rescues?

We have lost him 3 times in the house to find him in the tub wanting a bath and he won't get out until you give him one. He seems to actually go in there every thursday or friday...like he knows time!!!)

Can you teach me to do that with Harley! It's a nightmare getting her in the tub LOL  ;D

My Lab has dry skin too, she itches until she breaks the skin and licks her feet until she causes hotspots. Yeah not fun. We use Earthbath, they are all natural products and it really works well for her. Here is the website. www.earthbath. com

We also use dermacool for her hotspots and any areas are are itchy. It sooths the spots and heals and prevents her from itching. We also starting adding 1 tsp of extra virgin olive oil to her food to help her skin out.

I'm sorry about Titan, but you're right it's not the end of the world. I'm sure he will feel better once the glucosamine kicks in. And I am so HAPPY you put that stupid lady in her place  ;D Good for you!

We have a huge Calgary Stampede here in ALberta. I have never gone to it. The have chuck wagon races and it feels like every year there is an accident and a horse or horses are hurt. I think last year or the year before they had a huge crash were 3 horses got hurt and were pts. They should just get rid of those types of races. Very sad  :'(

One year an owners prize horse broke its leg (at the stampede) and the owner refused to put him down. It took a long time for him to recover but he did, he is no longer racing but he is a happy pet horse now  :)

Last summer, yy chow mix dog, Brownie, had a ton of hot spots and smelled awful, the whole works and we were desperate to help him feel better. It had come on slowly over about a two year period.  I did some googling and found that chows needed more oil in their diet than pet foods provide.  I began adding 1 tbs olive oil to his food every evening.  Amazingly in about a week, his bad smell went away.  Within about two weeks, the hot spots were gone. And now he's just a normal doggie.

I don't know if this is a good solution for everyone, but it sure worked on Brownie.  His fur, also, has such a great shine to it now.

Thanks my lab has dry skin and we have her on a raw diet, chinese herbal medicine, but I will definatly try this. She was fine until she went swimming last weekend and now she is back to itching and has hotspots on her feet again. :-\
