you never know.
it is a gamble, if you get one that is minimal be happy, if not, than accept them as they are.
adjust to it and learn to live with it. :)

THREE WORDS
HIGH VELOSITY DRYER
whenever mine go swimming i drag out my k-9 11 dryer and they get blasted after a rinse.
you must have a high velocity dryer if you have a newf!

your breeder should have specified a diet and laid down guidlines for you on feeding care and exersise and grooming.
if they did not
ARRGGGGGGGGGGG GG
newfs grow in different rates dependant on lines.
the SLOWER THE GROWTH THE BETTER!!!!
low protein as mentioned by others is the best food.
or bravo raw or omahs pride raw food.
do not feed high protein!

Anything Non-Dog Related / Re: what is your pirate name arrrrrr!!!

http://www.piratequiz.com/

Your pirate name is:
Captain William Flint

Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!

i am glad you were there to, and wow, i cant believe your freind was not there for her!
i would never in a million years trust anyone with my pregnant girl during delivery, let alone dump it on them.
not saying this is the case, but, wow!
i am glad you did not have a disaster, many times things can go wrong.
i am sure that she was nervous becouse it was not her home, nor her mom whome she prolly was trusting to be there with her thru this.
what a stressful time for her.
now you need to keep track of her temp daily to make sure she is not getting an infection.
did you xray her to make sure all pups were out?
that is standard proceedure.
also make sure that the pups rotate on the nipples, the rear ones are the fullest so the smallest pups should go back on them.
you have a lot of responsibility on your shoulders, hopefully your friend returns soon to help you out.

Newfoundland Discussions / Re: No! He's a Landseer, Dangit!
« on: June 02, 2007, 09:31:29 am »
i dont know of a seperate breed of landseer other than the ECT so that is news to me.
here is a write up on some of the history of the landseer variety of newfoundland dog, by variety we mean color only.
not a seperate breed, note they call them white and blacks.
http://www.ncanewfs.org/history/pages/landseer.html
this is from the NCA site and you can investigate further for whomever is interested.
Edited to add the link to the ECT wich i think your encyclopedia is referencing, though i have no clue why they didnt put the ect on it.
http://www.moloss.com/breeds/jkl/l001/
it sure does sound the same as what the continental landseer is.

ok so they may be referring to the ect becouse the landseer in the newfoundland breed is NOT seperate from the newfoundland as a whole.
sorry i have to disagree on this.
the only thing i can see this referring to is the split in england when the ECT became its own breed.
you wont see the landseer seperate in canada usa or anywhere else.
the ECT is, it is a whole different type.
i still may be misunderstandi ng you but. i do know my newfoundlands, seeing as we have been involved in these hairy beasts since the late 80`s :)
i think the confusion is in interpretation possibly, i do know the info on the landseer by heart, after all i breed them, and no where did it state them being a seperate entity, EXCEPT with the ECT.

i dont get it, the landseer is not mixed with pyr, exactly what were you saying? somehow i must have misinterpreted your statement.
i go by the parent club with researching, not encyclopedia.
 ???
one confused sarnewfie :o
Edited to say i read what the encyclopedia wrote and it is wrong.
the landseer is not seperate from the newfoundland.
it is saying the landseer specifically was bred with the pyr.
not so.
thel andseer is a piebald gene in the newfoundland dogs genes.
wether the newfoundland dog as a whole has some pyr from way back?
may be so, but, to say it is specifically landseer is misleading and misinforming.
not saying you said it, but the book states it.

German Shepherd Pictures / New GSD pup
« on: June 02, 2007, 09:05:59 am »
this is Archer, i picked her for my sister, this pup is from a german import that was sent to the states bred, titled on both ends up the wazoo with schutz and working titles, this is a promising young pup.
She is from our area, a training facility for Schutz, sells most of the pups to police officers for working dogs as in SAR also.
some go for pets.
my husband is pictured holding archer in the first foto.
he would love to be a K-9 unit but money doesnt allow for it in our state, the budgets have been cut so far down already.
anyway, just wanted to show off a non roached backed GSD.
i am sure she will FLOAT just fine without the roached back! LOL

I had a blast capturing different expressions from this pup!!

HUH???
the only seperate breed is the LANDSEER ECT in england.
there is no other sort of landseer other than the newfoundland dog, landseer variety, no mix.
it is plain ole newf.
the LANDSEER ECT originated years ago, maybe other breeds were involved but they also are not considered mixed with pyr.
not sure where that info came from of landseer being mixed.
it could be a joke??  ;D
i sure hope so becouse the public needs to be educated properly with all the designer dog breedings that are going on now.
anyone who wants to research , go to the newfoundland club of america website.
anyone wanting to research the ECT can go to the search bar and type in landseer ECT

One thing breeders should not do, and if they are, run and run fast! advertise specifically for dry mouthed newfs, or, that they have bred generation to generation and can "gaurantee a dry mouthed newf"
GAG
that is the true sign of someone trying to find a selling point that will catch the eye of an unknowing newbie.
First and foremost, there is no way to actually say how much your newf pup may or may not drool
it may only be when having a drink, or during hot weather.
it might only be when food is present, it might only be when excitement presents itself in any form. It also could be becouse conformation breeders have manipulated the heads like there is no tomorrow, shortening the muzzle and making them look like st bernards or mastiff. if you have this "newer type" you also may be in for a drooler.
some newfs slime like there is no tomorrow, mine have been minimal, only during a drink, or excitement or food.
not a constant thing.
you might want to see what lines they are from and find out how the parents, grandparents and so forth were, you might be able to get some kind of idea.
