General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Great gift idea for dog lovers
« on: December 02, 2005, 04:45:55 pm »
This site has lots of breeds and designs to choose from.  Also agility, field, and other dog event prints.

I like their t-shirts.  I only wish they had a dane in natural ears.

Great Dane Pictures / Gunther's Birthday pictures
« on: November 16, 2005, 06:15:34 pm »
Gunther turned one on 11/12/05.  We celebrated his birthday at the dog park on Wed.  Unfortunately, I forgot to bring his "outfit" to the park, so we took pics at home.

But I did get video of the action at the park.  Here are the links for the birthday cake fun.  More videos taken on that day but just general.

Anything Non-Dog Related / Some new designer breeds
« on: November 06, 2005, 11:34:27 pm »
Speaking of designer breeds, here are some new ones someone has come up with.

Disclaimer:  some of them are pretty scary looking.

I did wish they gave descriptions of them though, it only lists pictures.

Games & Jokes / Another fun game
« on: November 04, 2005, 01:52:59 am »
This is one of those mind games you actually have to think at.  There are 13 objects you have to find to help you out of the room.  I think it took me 5 days of playing off and on, with the help of some friends to find everything and get out.  There is a sequel too, which I gave up on.

I got sent these pics from my dad.  I believe they are the national winners for Petco's Halloween costume contest.  I love the turtle and the first chihuahua.

Great Dane Pictures / I know its a little late but.......
« on: October 25, 2005, 02:57:34 am »
I finally got their halloween costumes.  I think they turned out pretty good.  Not what I was originally planning, but it worked out okay.

Here's Gunther the pimp and his ho Keiko.  Keiko looks more like a mardi gras partier, but it was the closest thing I could come to a ho costume....... ..lol

Okay, I normally don't do this, but what the heck.  Many of you have heard of Dogster.com... .............. well, they are having a photo contest, to which I have entered both Keiko and Gunther in several categories.  Most of the prizes I don't care much for, BUT the grand prize would be pretty darn cool.  A photo shoot with the New York or Hollywood Dog magazines.

So, here I am asking for you to visit their pages and vote if you so choose.

Gunther's page:

Keiko's page:

You can vote once per pic per day.  I hope this is okay to post this here.  If not, let me know and I will remove it.

Okay, I'm all for learning from science, and usually find skeletons pretty cool, but even I find this a bit creepy.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / A Dog's "Will"
« on: October 01, 2005, 05:40:32 am »
The Legacy

Author Unknown

When humans die, they make a will
To leave their homes and all they have
to those they love.
I, too, would make a will if I could write.

To some poor wistful, lonely stray
I leave my happy home,
My dish, my cosy bed, my cushioned chair, my toy.
The well loved lap, the gentle stroking hand,
the loving voice,
The place I made in someone's heart,
The love that at the last could help me to
a peaceful painless end
Held in loving arms.

If I should die, Oh do not say,
"No more a pet I'll have,
to grieve me by it's loss"
Seek out some lonely, unloved dog
And give my place to him.
This is the legacy I leave behind -
'tis all I have to give.

Have you guys ever seen this dog?  She is amazing.

http://www.hpana.com/news.18300.html

She also has her own webpage and video you can link to thru this site.  I am amazed by this dog and her abilities despite her handicap.

Okay, so I know this site is for dogs, but I took these pics this morning and I am proud of them, so here they are.

I regularily see dolphins off the shore, but normally only their dorsals peek above the water.  Today they were very playful and were actually surfing the waves.

Sorry about the quality, I had to zoom in all the way on my camera, as I was on the upper boardwalk with Keiko.

Helpful Groups & Dogs in Need / Lost Dog
« on: September 04, 2005, 05:37:37 pm »
Hello.  I am writing this on behalf of my friend Julie, who earlier today lost her Jindo dog Kaiya.  Julie was in NJ this weekend for a wedding, and left Kaiya with friends in Mountain View, which is near Union NJ.  Somehow Kaiya got out of the yard while Julie was on her way to the wedding, and no one could catch her.  This happened around 11 am eastern time.  They are originally from NYC, and Julie has only had Kaiya for about 3-4 months, so Kaiya finding her way home is unfortunately unlikely.

Kaiya, as mentioned earlier, is a Jindo, which is a Japanese breed of dog.  She looks similar to a large shiba inu.  If you or anyone you know live in the NJ area mentioned, please keep an eye out for her.  She has been mistaken for a fox before by unknowledgable people.  You can see pictures of her on her Dogster page at:

http://www.dogster.com/pet_page.php?i=152846&j=t

If you see Kaiya, or have any information, please call Julie at 917.202.0328.

Kaiya is microchipped, and Julie's number is on her collar.  I hope and pray she is found soon.  I feel helpless that there is not much I can do from where I am, but I am asking to get the word out.

Thank you.

Mixed Breed Pictures / My Keiko
« on: August 12, 2005, 12:14:30 pm »
I thought since I had entered pics of my dane Gunther, I should enter some of my husky/shepherd mix, Keiko.  She takes after the husky side mostly in size, temperment, and looks (except for her head........th at's a total shepherd head).  She's the perfect dog, and we're doing a little more leash work with her, so she can start her therapy dog training.
