Great video.  Reminded me of some danes that I know.  He's a very handsome boy indeed.  Yeah, how DO you fit all those dogs and kids under one roof?  I have a hard enough time with two dogs and no kids.......... lol   :D

Siberian Husky Discussions / Re: My Husky-any advice?
« on: August 13, 2005, 09:41:59 pm »
Keiko is only half husky, but takes after that half in behavior and looks.  B/c of Gunther, she now eats regularily, and has gained 5 lbs b/c of it.  I much preferred her when she was a sporadic eater.  She, too, would go a day or two without eating and it never concerned me, since she always would eat again.

As for the discharge, yes that is normal, although gross.

I always give my guys bordatella simply b/c we frequent the dog park alot, and it's always better safe than sorry, since kennel cough can take awhile to get over.  If your dog has continuous sniffles, I would have the vet take a look at him.

You must have a really good doggie day care.  The ones around here are pretty expensive, and the cost does definitely NOT include overnight visits.  Since I do pet sitting and dog walking, I dont' have to worry about that for myself, thank goodness.  And I do get the worried parents, checking in on the pets to make sure they're still alive......... ...lol.   ::)  I don't mind, it comes with the job, and it means the owners care alot about their furry family.

LOL........... ....I wish my husband was as smart as yours.  He thinks I spend waaaaay too much time with the "kids" and too little with him.  Can I help it if they are more fun?  If they listen to me better and have better manners?

My husband would never get something like that for me.  I always hint at that kind of stuff, but I guess subtlety is lost on him.

I agree Janis.  I've actually posted something similar to this on another website that little dogs behavior is tolerated WAY too much.  This was on a thread about a rottie attack.  The same standards unfortunately are not set for little dogs.  I was referring to how they are around people, but the same can be said of their behavior around dogs.

That little dacshie sounds like a real pain in the arse.......... .literally.  Too bad there is not much you can do about that other than try to go at a different time.

I burst out laughing at the picture you painted in my head of a short person going up to a big beefy bodybuilder type and just smacking them in the head.........L OLOLOL   :D :D

Moonlit, I love that insult list.  I'm going to have to keep that one around.  I rarely swear, but I have no problem with insulting people  8)  Okay, now let me try out my first Shakespearean insult.

Achem (*clears throat*)

You all are a bunch of yeasty fly-bitten codpieces.  There, how was that?  Do I pass the insult test?   ;D

Wow, congrats!

Me and my hubby went to vegas last fall.  I came out ahead, but he lost alot, so we still ended up losing alot.  (He won't tell me how much.......... .don't matter, it was HIS money).

I would love to get new doggie stuff.  New beds would be great.  Keiko won't use them, but Gunther loves beds.  And then, of course, food would be a close second.  Maybe I would buy a small hot dog stand to keep them with an endless supply........ .......lol

Cane Corso Discussions & Pictures / Re: I have 2 Big Pawed Boys

Aawwwweeee.... ........I LOVE cane corso's.  I want to get one someday.  Right now, I will settle for my dane.  I have to work some more on my husband, who does not like bully type breeds, even though they are more of a mastiff breed.  I fell in love with them ever since reading an article a year or two ago in Dog Fancy.  I've read up all I can on them, and still love them, although I know they can be a challenge to work with.  Your little fawn guy is gorgeous.  I didn't even know they came with blue eyes.

I love IW!!  What great pics.  He's just a bit older than my dane pup.  I wouldn't mind getting an IW at some point.  The only thing holding me back would be their lifespan is not very long.  I guess you have to pack as much love as you can into their unfortunately not long enough lives.

Mixed Breed Pictures / My Keiko
« on: August 12, 2005, 12:14:30 pm »
I thought since I had entered pics of my dane Gunther, I should enter some of my husky/shepherd mix, Keiko.  She takes after the husky side mostly in size, temperment, and looks (except for her head........th at's a total shepherd head).  She's the perfect dog, and we're doing a little more leash work with her, so she can start her therapy dog training.

In that pic, Gunther is just over 4 months old.

And even though the size isn't really an indicator, I think that mixing a sighthound with a mastiff could get results that look like you.  You never know.......... ....

I had looked into getting a blue dane after I had a hard time getting a harlequin, but heard back from Gunther's breeder first.  Plus, my husband was against getting a dane, but he liked the "striped" ones, so I went for the brindle.

I'm glad to see that it sounds like Gunther is growing normally.  Since he's been going sooooooo slow the last couple of months, I was afraid he wasn't going to get much bigger.  I will continue to wait for his next growth spurt.  Oh, and I have pics of him under "Gunther's pics".
