Awwwe, the new pix of them are too cute!
And I knew that one was choch with tan points.......l ol.  Which is why I wondered if they had something else besides boxer/mastiff.  ;)

Good article.  I agree with many, if not all of the points.
Some of the breeds are indeed so similar it is difficult to tell them apart.  And it will be even moreso when some of those breeds start making their way into the national breed clubs.

I do think more has to be done to return dogs back to healthy standards, and not excessive/unnatural standards.

But from my understanding, England at least has put into motion the changing of several standards of their dogs w/i the kennel club.

Yup, all my puppers dream.  But keiko seems to do it the most often, and is the loudest....... lol.  Gunther seems to kick the most, although has toned that down in the last year or two.

Nigel and Posey are high pitched whiners during dreaming, and have small tremors rather than out and out kicking that Gunther and Keiko do.

What a gorgeous dog!  :-*
I'm counting the years until I can have my own.

Awwwe, I love all of these!
Wow, that's a big puppy class!
Love seeing them run all around.  Love the one of Kedge resting against Faust.  As well as the ones of him playing with Mojo.

Awwwe, they are too cute!

Is that one choc. with tan points or are my eyes deceiving me?  Wonder if there's some thing else in the mix maybe?

They are adorable though and I'm sure they will be adopted quickly.

you def. have to post a pic of the corso you're rescuing.  I'm very interested in that breed (although have another 4-5 yrs before i can add one to the family)

« on: February 28, 2009, 11:52:00 am »
It's going to be hard to work with him if he's not exposed to toddlers on a regular basis......... .or does your nephew live with you?

I think you have to start making it a positive experience for him around toddlers.  It sounds like he's not down and out aggressive, but I agree he does have a quick reaction around young kids that are near him.

How old is your nephew?  Is he able to give commands to him?  Perhaps have a training session involving your nephew?  Or maybe having extra special treats that only young children are allowed to give him?

I hope you are able to work with him to overcome his issue with young children.

Well, I can't speak on mastiffs, but my little rat terrier went into her first heat at 13 months.  lucky for me, she has them every 7 months, and we are expecting her to go into heat again in a month or so.

And I agree......... ....if you don't plan on breeding her, or showing her, I would suggest spaying her for her own safety.  Especially since you will be in a new, strange area with no fenced area around.  I have a fenced in yard, but Posey always goes out with Gunther during her heat cycle so I am full warned if another dog approaches (has yet to happen but I like to be prepared).

It is messy (Posey once started her heat on my lap  ::)) and a big PITA.  Course doubly here for me b/c I have a male too  ;) .............b ut we have a system worked out here.  Her first heat cycle I was like you.  In a new place, out in the country no less, and no fencing.  I was constantly concerned some male dog would somehow wander onto my parents property and start a fight with my other dogs over her.

Its up to you, but in your situation I would probably have her spayed before you move.

Awwwe, she seems like a doll and she looks like a Daisy.  :)  Glad to hear she's transitioning well.  Just wait a week or two though and I'm sure you'll see the lab come out in her.........lo l.  ;)  And it's wonderful to see Gilligan again.  Glad he's doing so well at your future in-laws.  :)

Looks like it was quite the adventure today.
So how did he do on the walk?  He looked to be doing pretty well for the most part.
and yes, nothing better than a nice warm blankie.
