Medical Conditions & Diseases / Juvenile Vaginitis

OK all You probably saw the subject and got really scared.   BUt it isnt about me.  I promise.  ;D  OK my wiem is about 5 1/2 months old and she has had a UTI a few times well she is always cleaning herself.  My experience with puppies is that they are always cleaning themselves.  she is also maybe going to come into heat soon. 
   
  Well she was cleaning herself ALOT a couple of days ago and the next day she had TONS of discharge so the next morning i took her to the vet and they told me that they would put her on clavamox.  Well she has been on it for a week now.   Well she has an appt. today to get it checked. 
 
   NOW also i dont go to the same vet for her as i do for the rest of my dogs.  She goes to the same vet she went to when she was born because the woman has three wiems and i figured that if you had one you must know about them.   Well she told me last time that if this clavamox didnt clear it up that she would have juvenile vaginitis and i would have to spay her.   Just like that.  not willng to run tests or anything.  Well the thing is i have no problem spaying her but my fiance on the other hand has been training her the past couple of months to field trails and she cant do them if she is spayed.   

    HAs anyone here had a problem iwth juvenile vaginitis and does anyone know how common it is cause this woman is acting like every dog has  it.

Well i am sure that most everyone read my post about losing my beloved Cotton.  Well a really good friend of mine has two show English Springer Spaniels.  Well she bred them for the first time and i went over to her house at 4 in the morning three days ago to help her deliver them. 
 She had never had birthed puppies before so did most everything and she watched and took notes.  Well it was 8:30 when she was finished and i was exhausted.   I was getting ready to go home and go to bed when she stopped me and told me that i could have pick of the litter male puppy.  She wants me to show him and eventually breed him. 
  My question for yall is.... Is it to soon to get another dog i mean i have four months to think about it but i just wanted to know what yall thought about it.

My 3 yr old american bulldog passed away this morning.  :'( The weird thing is that we have no clue why.  I fed all the dogs like usual and we let them out for their morning hour run in the yard.  We called all of them back in and everyone came but cotton which isnt uncommon if she finds something she wont come.  So i shut the door and went and got dressed.  While i am doing this winston my giant is frantically running to me and then back to the door which he does if someone is left out or if he has to go potty. 

       I walk outside and mind you i have 8 acres all fenced in that the dogs can have full access to but my bf had locked the gate last night because it got to be 25 degrees last night which is freezing for mobile alabama.  When we let them out last night we didnt want to have to bunddle up and get on the forwheelers looking for dogs.  So last night they only had access to about an acre. 
   
      We went out side and cotton is nowhere in site.  we go to the gate and it is open weird huh!  So we go to the barn and all the horses are in the stalls waiting to be let out and still no cotton.  I am getting very worried at this piont.  Then i saddled up my mare and rode her up and down the fence line to see if i could find her still nowhere in sight.  I ride back to the barn because at this point it has been an hour past she was suppose to be back inside and thought i might have just missed her and she is at the backdoor waiting on me.

     I go to the barn and call my bf at the house to let the other dogs out cause she might be wondering the property and they probably could smell her and i had checked the entire fencing and all was secure.  Well all 4 of the other dogs come running into the barn barking at the horses running up to me.  And then my boxer started to act really funny and was running to the tack room and then back to me.  I thought she had found a rat and the barn cats were inside last night so it was very likely.

          I look around and see nothing out of the ordinary and brooklynn then jumps up on my tack box.  I look behind it and sure enough there is cotton shaking.  I pet her and new she didnt feel good.  We carried her back to the house where she was still shaking.  Now at first i thought she was hypothermic or something but that tack room was fully heated all night nd it was like a boiler room when i walked in there. 
   
          Well we rushed her to my vet and she died on the way there.  I feel like a horrible mom cause she was acting fine when i let her out her same goofy self.  The vet was going to do an autopsy to see what happened.  Has anyone of you ever heard of a dog just dying like this.

I really do think Bell hates me.  :'(  If i feed her she wont eat her food.  If her daddy feeds her she will gobble it up so fast that it will make your head spin. 
When i put her in her crate at night as soon as i put her in it she screams and pees everywhere within a matter of seconds. 

Of course he all he has to say is bell go get in your bed and she runs in and lays down.  Never makes a peep or pees anywhere the whole night. 
I try so hard to get her to love me like that.  All the other dogs do.  My bf says it is because he respects him.  I think he is slipping her hot dogs or something because i train with her not him.  I take her running everyday and take her to the barn.  And i used to feed her but she wouldnt eat so now he does. 

I dont understand.  Can anone explain this because i really cant.  How can i get her to love me like she loves her daddy? :-[

I took Bell to the vet three weeks ago and the vet said that it looked like she was getting an infection on her face.  She explained to me that they are kind of like "puppy pimples".  I have never heard of these.  She gave me some antibiotics and they went away with in days.  Well she is going back tuesday for her last set of puppy shots and now i am noticing that they are coming back.

  Has anyone ever heard of these?  They are little raised pink pimples.  They are on her lips and on the top of her head.  now it only is on her face.  No where else. She doesnt act like they bother her i dont know if she is allergic to something or not.  the vet didnt act like it was that big of a deal.  I feel so bad for her.   :'(

Big Dogs with Jobs / Does Anyone have a hunting dog?

My bf wants to make our wiem puppy into a hunting dog.  He really likes to duck hunt and met a guy that has a wiem that does it.  Both of bell's parents were champion field trail dogs so she does hav it in her.  The guy that has a wiem told my bf that if you are to have a good hunting dog then the dog HAS to live outside all the time so that way the dog can be one with nature and know all the smells and sounds. 

    I told my bf that i am not doing that.  My baby is not sleeping outside.  I have never had an outside dog and never will.  Now my question is to have a good hunting dog do they have to live outside.  Because if they do i want no part of it.  They say that they are working dogs or pets not both.  That supposedly it ruins them.   

  Now she is outside alot during the day if it is not too hot or too cold ( which it never is in alabama).  I have horses so when i am out they are out.  They have a doggy door where they can come and go as they please and at 11 each night i lock it so that way they dont go out anymore and then it is opened back up at 6 when he leaves for work.   

  Can anyone please help me because i dont want her to be outside and he really wants her to be a hunting dog and she is "suppose" to be his dog.  Help me PLEASE!

Meet & Greet BPOers / would any one be agianst a a south east get together

I live in Alabama so i would love to meet some of our fellow BPO's around here.  I have managed to meet three by my training classes but i think it would be really fun to get everyone together like they are doing in the east.  We should have one big BPO party and everyone meet somewhere but heres to hoping.  If you live somwhere in the southeast and would like to meet please post.

I dont understand how when you are getting ready to start toning down at night to go to bed, the dogs think that it means lets start wrestling and barking at eachother.  I mean all day we have been outside working in the yard and working out the horses.  They should be passed out and i am sitting here on my couch doing my nightly routine of checking the posts on BPO, eating ice cream, and relaxing ahile the dogs are running as fast as they can through the whole house and when i let them out to play outside they look at me like women are you crazy.  I just dont understand. :-\

Ok My boyfriend and i just got a wiemeranar.  Yes and if yall were wondering she is very high energy,  but i love it.  Ok my question is she has separation anxiety bad.  I am a dog trainer by profession and i cannot help this condition at all.  I feel like a bad mom.  I researched the breed alot before i actually got one and i know alot of methods to help with separation anxiety but of course i picked the baby that all those methods do not help at all.  Has anyone ever had a dog with separtion anxiety and if so how did you help it.

I just want to tell everyone at BPO thank you so much for being concerned about me.  I am ok and so are all of my fur babies except one.  Unfortunately my oldest horse Fiona died during the storm.  It was not because of anything like a tree falling on her or anything like that she was just really old and had a heart attack from all he wind and rain.  I now that she is in a better place now but i still have 7 dogs and 7 horses that are all perfectly fine.
