Medical Conditions & Diseases / Re: Halo's back in the Hospital

Thanks.
The vet called this evening. There was fluid in his leg that was infected. They put a tube in to drain it. He's still on antibiotic IV until tomorrow then they will try to feed him. The vet said he got his bark back so I guess he is feeling a little better. He barks at the vet but not the techs. He likes girls. lol. Maybe Halo will come home Saturday. Keep sending good thoughts. They help.

He has an infection now. He will be in there for 3-5 days. Poor boy couldn't even get out of his crate yesterday. We had to pull him out. 150 pounds of dead weight. Next time I get a Yorkie.LOL. Send good thoughts again please.

and so do I. We were really worried about this surgery and x Rays. His hips are very good. The luxated patella has been fixed and he is in recovery mode at home. To relate to your protection stories, we stopped at a 7-11 after picking him up. We have a luxurey van that he can see out of the large windows. Groggy and uncomfortable as he was he still would NOT let anyone near the van or me. Women only got a growl but men got the full blast. He even jumped at the window when a guy came to the next car. He is recovering very well. Makes it up and down the 4 steps to outside. He did growl and bark at Penny from his crate when ahe got too close but was only home an hour and hadn't seen her yet. Hasn't done it since. thanks again for the positive thoughts. Our family appreciates it.

Thank you. It's going to depend on his hip X Rays what we will do. Also, his elbows are getting X Rayed too. If he has bad dysplasia we will have to think about other options. As it is theres 3 tough months of recovery for the one knee and the other will need it next year. Money is also an issue unfortunatly. Each knee is $2600 and each hip $6000. Really can't put 18 K into the dog just to have him in pain half his life. But, I'm guardadly optimistic right now. He knows something up. He wants to be apart from Penny and Brindle for now.

thanks. Halo has a crate but when the others are in the room , he wants out. He's gonna have to adjust I guess.

Could he be stressing while he eats? Alot of action around? Maybe feed him outside if possible?

Thank you all for the good vibes. His hips will be XRayed and getting the surgery depends on that. If he has displasia in the hips then we won't be operating. thanks for your kind thoughts.

He will be going Tuesday for his Luxated Patella. Wish us luck please? Then it's 3 months of leash only walking and seperation from Penny and Brindle. He cries now if he's not near them, so some sleepless nights are coming. Lol.

Very sorry about your loss.

Halo has the same thing on the left rear leg. We go to the Ortho tomorrow. If we get him to sit it goes back in but its hard watching him on 3 legs with his size. Let you know what the vet says. Good luck.

Hi,
Hope he's feeling better. Just wanted to put in my 2 cents. I had a 100 lb. American Bulldog that had sudden weight loss. He lost about 10-15 lbs in a week. All the blood work was good, not lethargic, eating, drinking, normal bowel movements and playing. Finally, I found a baseball with the cover missing in the yard that the kid next door gave him. The leather cover was in his stomach on the X Rays!! It was removed and he never had a problem like that after. It may be worth asking about if its possible he ingested something. Just trying to help.
