Anything Non-Dog Related / Re: Need help finding plane tickets
« on: September 26, 2005, 06:04:11 am »
g'luck to that... it's 12/17?? Xmas season?

using www.sidestep.c om (my goto flight search engine, superior to Expedia/travelocity, etc.) shows:

US Air
236.00 /person
Depart Arrive Stops From To Dates
12:25P 5:29P 1 MHT MCO 12/17
 7:00A 11:30A 1 MCO MHT 12/20

Continental:
249.00 /person
Depart Arrive Stops From To Dates
2:20P 8:13P 1 MHT MCO 12/17
 9:30A 1:55P 1 MCO MHT 12/20

again, d/l sidestep's software and search for your heart's content. w/o sidestep, i don't think i could've supported my gf's flights back/forth between NYC/LAX during the first 6 months of our relationship.. .

Medical Conditions & Diseases / hairy p00p?
« on: September 26, 2005, 12:29:19 am »
i know this is lil too picturesque but... Cody is a golden, and hence, a shedder... His discharge always looked a bit .. woolly and i took this as normal...

when Nikki first came to us, she didn't exhibit the wooly poopy symptom. now, a month later, her fecal matter is also beginning to look a lil hairy. i understand dog hair's also keratinized proteins (keratin) and the disulfide bonds can't be broken down by stomach acids, etc. i know dog hair can cause constipation, but Cody has never had a problem w/ the hair issue. but every lil change in the St. Bernard puppy makes me nervous so i'd figure i'd get the general consensus on this matter.

(and yes, i know grooming, constant bushing, Swifter'ing my hardwood floors 6x a day can help alleviate this, but you know... it is what it right now..  ::)  )

Daffy (our old Newfie X) was from New York ASPCA...

Cody was from some BYB in Indiana (we got 'em when he's 3, and no longer wanted for studding)

Nikki was off www.Craiglist. org

yet another reason why i don't want kids...

i was so ticked off when my BIKE got stolen (a really hard to find compact sized Cannondale R300 w/ 650c wheels , blah blah blah, i digress)... can't imagine if someone took my dog.. i'd be livid..

ugh.. *ditto to what everyone said*

it's so stressful when your doggie's sick :(

129
it's relatively new (almost 2 yrs now?). it is s'posedly the "most" organic dog food available. it's sickening/prohibitively expensive (at least for me). avgs out to something like.. $4/lb ;)

i've seen it at my local Pet Supplies Plus. I always look at the tiny bags longingly... thinking: wow, this bag will last about.. o .. 1 week for both my dogs...  at $40..  ;D

ooo... cell phone talk..  ;D
this is mine:

slider, bluetooth, cam *useless*, etc.

for the truly geek in you read:
http://www.engadget.com &
http://www.gizmodo.com

it's hard to buy a phone w/o cam nowadays. 90% of the phonecams are useless cept for doing freaky things in victoria's secret changing rooms, etc. unless, of course, you're korean... cuz then you can be jocking some 2.1mp cam phones w/ flash...

warm. reason: cold poop reminds me hot dogs in the fridge section of the grocery store... and i really like a good chi-town dog so....

* sigh of relief *
gf went home early to doggy sit. nikki finished a whole can of Natural Balance wet, drank a lil water, ate her amoxycilin / anti-diarreal and is now playing w/ cody.

i'm going to buy some canned pumpkin tonite to mix w/ rice, and t'row morn after her meal, we're try the deworming med again...

i'm so PO'd at my neighbors right now!

133
However, I can't complain cuz once I get there...the entire town is wired! WOOH! I get free unlimited internet (high speed) anywhere I'm at! Mostly, anyway. My favorite is going to sit at this one bar with an outdoor seating area. I can have a beer, sit outside, and be on BPO. Its awesome.
whoah. what city in IN is this? i mean, there's no reason to live in IN ever, but this may come close to a reason...

134
** she has refused to eat in almost 36 hrs (canidae, natural balance canned, peanut butter)

** last nite, 2 hrs after feeding her the de-worming pill, nikki (7 months) hurled up the horse pills + the amoxycilin + the anti-diarrheal meds from earlier in the nite. possibly overmedicated on empty stomach?

** this morn, she woke up thirsty, drank ~3 qts of water, threw up clear water 30 minutes later.

** vet recs no more water/food for 2 - 3 hrs, then feed 2 more amoxycilin caps + 1 anti-diarrheal tablet.

** vet recs if no improvement by today, off to the animal hospital for overnite observation

i'm friggin lost at work here... ditto the SO, neither of us can be home til 1pm... i hate to be a capitalist, but our budgetary constraints really prohibit an extended hospital stay. this MORBID feeling is beginning to shroud me...  :-[
