Great Pyrenees Discussions / Czar-Proud Pyr Protecting his Mom.....
« on: July 28, 2005, 08:25:43 pm »
Tonight I heard Czar my Pyr barking outside down near the gate to our property.  I went down to see what was happening, and there was a large truck backed up to the gate and a strange man reaching down over the gate trying to pet Czar, and my Mal, Raisa.  As I approached the gate, I realized it was the person given the task of removing our "For Sale" sign in front of the gate.  About 20 feet from the gate, Czar, put his body between myself and the gate and promptly sat ON my feet.  He held his head high and proud and kept his eye on the man reaching over the gate.  I tried to move my feet forward, and even though I told Czar the command "OK", he would not let me move forward.  During the entire time the man talked with me (20' from the gate), Czar never moved, never said a word, but he kept his body firmly planted on my feet standing between me and the gate and the stranger.  He did not stand up and let me go until the stranger was in his truck with the for sale sign, and on his way down the gravel road.  Czar is a truly amazing animal; he knew it was a stranger, he knew I was home alone, and he knew he had to protect his mom and he wasn't going to let anyone get in his way. 10 minutes later he was happily greeting and playing with some INVITED guests which he knew and loving up both their kids and parents! I am so blessed to be sharing my life with such an awesome canine!  His sister, Raisa, the Mal, thinks so too!

« on: March 17, 2005, 09:15:22 pm »
Raisa the Alaskan Malamute hangs out during the St. Pat's Day snowstorm we are currently experiencing in Wisconsin.  She begs to stay outside and bury herself in the snow along her best friend Czar the Great Pyrenees.  Raisa would take this weather 365 days a year.

« on: March 17, 2005, 09:06:12 pm »
This is a picture I just took of Czar the Great Pyrenees in the middle of a St. Patricks Day snowstorm here in Wisconsin.  He hangs out with Raisa the Malamute and they both absolutley love this weather; they wouldn't have it any other way!  I hope I can find him in a couple of hours as he blends in so well with the white snow; all I can see are his eyes peeking out!

Alaskan Malamute Pictures / Raisa-Favorite Season
« on: March 08, 2005, 08:00:30 pm »
This is Raisa during her favoriate time of the year.  Anytime the emperature is below 0, she is happy.  Her hair is incredibly thick like carpet, and she has not had a bath since the day I brought her home on June 3, 2000.  As the AKC breed standard states, Mals are a very clean and odorless dog, and it is so true.  However, the breed standard also says Mals are a non-barking dog.  This is so NOT true!  She very much lets me know when she wants an extra treat or double the attention!  She is affectionaly known is "sweet pea" because she is very shy.

Alaskan Malamute Pictures / New Introduction-Raisa
« on: March 08, 2005, 07:44:26 pm »
This is Raisa, my 4 year old Alaskan Malamute.  In this picture her and I had taken a break while hiking this past October at a state park near our home in Wisconsin.  She loves the outdoors, is very beautiful, extremely intelligent, independant, and very much like her closest ancestor the wolf.  She has faced several physical challenges in her short life, but we take and make every day count.  She loves hiking, but especially in the cold weather....her favorite!   Raisa has VERY BIG PAWS!
