Talk about a hard choice... they are all so cute and I can't wait to see which one you end up taking home!

Welcome... I'm Tom... I have a brindle Great Dane,  a mantle-ish Great Labra-Dane Retriever and a medium Chow-Rott mix(the Rottwow  ;) ).  Chance, the lab/dane mix, seems to have finished growing around 2, he's about 27-29 months now.  Feste, the dane is just over 2, but he's still filling out.

Given the opportunity, would you want to learn your future beforehand?

Meet & Greet BPOers / Re: OK South Alabama.....
« on: July 22, 2006, 10:28:01 am »
I'm photographing a friend's wedding on the weekend of the 29th, so that's out for me unless it's on the Sunday.  Either the 5th or the 12th  of August should be good however.
I took the boys over last weekend and we had a blast.  Feste's getting more and more comfortable with being in the water and spent a lot of time getting wet and plaiying with me in the water.  Of course he still drinks too much of it also.  I've tried to get him to stop when I catch him, but he thinks I'm trying to play when I do...

I don't have a lot of free time, but I do enjoy writing and can probably put out a couple of 'articles' a month, although I'm not very familiar with blogging - point me in a direction and I'll give it a go, though.  Please let me know if this will help

Great Dane Discussions / Re: should I take Annie

That is a really tough decision, but I'm right around the corner if you ever need a hand.  Not to mention that my boys would love another big playmate :-) .
From my perspective, I took my 1st dane, Alexander, after he'd been recued at about 65lbs from heatworms, neglect and abuse.  The vet that rescued him cleared him of the heartwormms and patched him up as much as possible.  He was only with me for 9 months, before his heart gave out, and although that was one of the hardest things I've ever had to deal with, it was also one of the most incredible and rewarding experiences I've ever had.
Feel free to call me if you need an ear or sounding board... 402-0912.
Tom

LOL.. I understand, but I really think that our 'kids' are pretty good at taking breaks when they need one. I know mine will plop in a heartbeat , even if it's only for a few minutes to recharge before taking off again.  Ultimately it's what you feel comfortable with, but I'd be willing to bet that Kate would love to spend the time with her people and friends before going to the resort without them for a week and a half.

Congraulations and happy (belated) birthday!

Having 3 has been an adventure, but all 3 dote on and play with each other (even the 35 pounder with the 150 pounder).  I think mine are happier having each other around and i know I love having all of them (even Puck)around.  If you like the female and your boy likes her and tolerates her presence in his territory, it ound like a win-win situation.

Can the people running the resort separate her if they see that she needs a rest?  If they can and you trust them to keep an eye on her and make her take a rest as needed, I can't see why you shouldn't go camping with her before your trip.

I use Mane & Tail 99% of the time... it's fairly gentle, not overly perfumed and doesn't seem to strip the oil out of their coats too much. Chance and Feste's coats always look good and are soft.
Because of Puck's skin, I have to use sebalyte (sp?)on him every so often.
