They weave their way around and into our hearts, leaving an imprint that can never be filled.  The best that we can ever hope to do is share that love with those still here.  Peace to you.

Great Dane Discussions / Re: Can you trust your danes off leash??
« on: July 14, 2006, 06:22:31 am »
Chance is near-perfect off leash, in terms of obeying commands, but then he has that lab gene in him.  Feste is getting better as he matures, but if he gets it into his head to play, he will run (and run and run) with little regard for anything or anyone.
My previous dane, Alexander, was rock steady off-leash.  He would never leave my side and his recall was 100% regardless of what was going on around him.  I'm fairly certain that Feste will get there, but I'm not rushing to end his 'extended puppy-hood', either.

lol...  I'll take the actor in after his good training is 'destroyed' for the movie.  After raising Puck and Chance, I've got really good blinders to to it....lol  ;D

Never have run into anything like that, but I'm thinking positive thoughts for you and your girl.

Games & Jokes / Re: Calculate your dog's age in human years easily!

How can EVERYONE'S puppers be "younger than average"?  I thought average meant the middle, meaning half are above it, and half are below it lol

It's probably because the majority of this group research any and all ways to improve the probability for long life in our pets, since by and large (pardon the pun) giant breeds are not as long-lived as other breeds.  Since we are comparing the way we treat our pets to the rest of society at large (Ol' Roy, anyone???  ;D ), our pets will probably all come out more or less younger than average.  :-)

 Feste's DogAge is 11.3!
That's 4.7 years younger than the average DogAge for Feste's breed.

Chance's DogAge is 12.2!
That's 3.8 years younger than the average DogAge for Chance's breed.

Puck's DogAge is 23.9!
That's 9.5 years younger than the average DogAge for Puck's breed.

 :)

Meet & Greet BPOers / Re: Pensacola July 1st

lol... my boys already use the fountains in Spanish Plaza - when the fountains are working that is...  Seriously, though, I believe that one of Mobile's 'string of pearls'  was to rebuild Monroe Park on Mobile Bay.  I've talked to a couple of people and we are going to try to find out if that is still in the works and, if so, how to get a dog park along the lines of the one in Pensacola considered as a part of it.

I'm in for the monthly deal... the boys wouldn't forgive me if I don't take them  ;) .  Would probably be interested in getting involved with a dog owners assoc. as well.

I can't use a purse, but I've been thinking about getting one of those 1-strap backpacks (a friend at work has a Univ. of Al. one and it seems really useful).  If I could get one w/my 3 nuts pictured on it, that would be too cool for primetime...
As for the smoking... keep up the good work.  I have 2 more days worth of cigars, then I'm joining you on the bandwagon (yay- just in time to go back to work... they'll just love me come Thusday).  So if you need to vent, feel free to call and do so, I'll probably return the favor in a few days!  ;)
