Well, I agree!  Very good looking and sweet.  I am owned by a Leonberger -who is a mix of a St. Bernard, Newfy and Great Pry so no judgement here.   ;D :D

Food Discussion & Information / Re: Any raw feeders on BPO??
« on: November 13, 2005, 01:50:48 pm »
Hi There!  I'm really new to raw feeding - have been contemplating the idea for the past 5 or 6 months (even before the arrival of my Leo puppy).  I was wondering if someone had a tip on how much to feed.  I know this is a "go by how your dog looks and feels" type thing - but in general, I've seen so many differing guidelines.  Some say 10% for puppies (is 5 months still a puppy?) until the amt. your feeding equals 2-3% of the ideal adult weight, I've seen 3-4% of the ideal adult weight, and then 2-4% of the current weight?!!?   :-[ :-\

Any rules of thumb for me?  Also, I've been feeding mostly chicken quarters, chicken necks, some wings (but wing size freaks me out) and Omas pre mixed (veg, meat, organ & bone).  Bogard is doing really well and going to town, but I need to add some variety to the chicken.  Are chicken backs the best thing to add?  And you give them whole, right?  (Still conceptually seems crazy....but he's LOVING eating for the first time in his little puppy life!)

Jenn thank you so much for all of your organizing - so sweet of you to step up and arrange everything!

Just a side note from some of the earlier posts about dogs that are questionable with other dogs - does anyone have a dog that is NOT okay with a puppy?  Bogard is a male, un-neutered Leo PUPPY at 5 months of age.  I know some dogs aren't overly friendly with puppies and I want to ensure having a pup there isn't going to escalate any issues with anyone.  Thanks!!

I'm so excited to meet everyone!

We'll bring a dessert.

Any developements on a hotel in the area?  Sorry but we can't help with the bathroom - although I agree - it would be very very nice to have one at the park to use.

Looking forward to it!

Did we decide on a location for sure?  I'd have to say park #1 only because of the spay/neuter requirements.   Bogard is only 4 months old, so he won't be neutered by then.

Hello!
Would like to say hi to everyone, what a great site this is - just joined.  My name is Kelly, am from Canada.  This is a picture of our darling "Kate", she is now 14 wks old.  Picture taken at 13 wks.  We love Kate - she is our first Leonberger!

Hi Kelly - I've got a 14 (almost 15) week old Leo too!   ;D ;D  Welcome!  I think you'll find that you love it here, people are wonderful and give great advise!  Can I ask where your Kate came from?  My Leo is from Canada also - and with the age and look similarity I thought we just may have siblings!!  ha!

Here's my guy..(and he's from Shelia and Pierre at Lematire Kennels in Abbotsford?)  We hit the beach this weekend!  First time....

Thanks everybody!  I was actually kind of scared to read your responses, for fear that it would be bad news.  I'm glad to hear that I probably don't need to be rushing her to the vet.  She seems really active and healthy so for now i'll just keep an eye on it.

As far as her sleepy wheezing it could just be heavy breathing.  I don't hear it any other time even after she has been running or playing.  Thanks again for all of your reassurences.

No experience with allergies here...but I just have to say - WOA...cute pup!!!  Adorable, and you've got 2, I'm jealous!   ;D

OMG that makes me want a Leo puppy.

You should get one!   ;D  (that's what I tell everyone...but a Great Pyr puppy would give him a run for his money)

It's starting to sound like Nov 19 is the date. It everyone Ok with this let me know. It is also starting to look like PA is a good place to meet sense there are alot of yuo are from NY, PA and MD, MA. How does that sound to everyone?

Nov 19th works well for Bogard and I as well!  We're coming from NYC (Manhattan) and PA sounds great.  We're going to a Leo show this weekend in upstate NY and staying at a Days Inn who takes BIG dogs without any additional fee.  Our group rate for the Northeastern regional Leo club was $65/night.  Much more than the Motel 6 at $35....but just thought I'd throw that out for you as well!

Medical Conditions & Diseases / Bogard's on the mend...
« on: October 16, 2005, 08:24:51 am »
Hi all!  I just wanted to say thank you so much for the well wishes and thoughts about Bogard...he's getting better!  (YEA!)   ;D ;D

The nasal discharge is gone, and his cough/gag has lightened up a TON.  Looks like this thing just ran its course over about 2-3 weeks, and 2 different antibiotics.  Poor little guy had a couple of really rough nights - but we made it up to him this past weekend by giving him his first trip to the Hamptons, and more importantly - the OCEAN!!!  (He loved it!)

So thanks again for all of your input guys....I really appreciated not only the sympathy but the suggestions too!
