Oh yah.. they sure love to "cut the cheese" in the middle of the night, the scary part is that when they don't cut the cheese, I would panic and thought something's wrong with them.... ;D....glad to know that I am not the only one who's dealing with the gas problems.. but still love them.... :D

So how did Cheese get her name??? Well... Originally we named her Piggy, then we decided the name wasn't fitting for a girl....... my Husband was just joking around and throwing the name Cheese out.l. when he said it, I thought it was hilarious and I laughed... I said who would name their dog Cheese.. then he kept repeating Cheese Cheese Cheese..  I thought you know what... when he said the name Cheese, it brought a big smile to my face.. and I thought it was very funny... so we finally decided to name her Cheese... boy. does the name fit well.. Cheese CUTS the cheese quite well......... ;D

Your Zoe is in the Healthy weight zone... :).... One of my mastiff weighed in at 70 pounds and the bull/eng mastiff weighed in at 68 pounds when they were 6 months old... ;D... puppies weight varies as long as you are feeding your puppy 3 to 4 times a day and keep her active...  she will grow up healthy and happy...... ::)

Old English Mastiff Pictures / Re: Food for Mastiff puppy
« on: September 29, 2005, 05:42:46 pm »
I spent a great deal of time researching this topic as I had a EM puppy with bowed legs when I got him.  Most foods over the counter come with by-product as a main ingredient.  You want beef "meal" or chicken "meal" as the main ingredient...n ot byproduct.  Surpising..but check out science diet and iams and you will find by-product.

Anyway, to the point.... calcium/phosphorous balance is the main issue.  Nutro's Natural Choice Large Breed Puppy food is the best overall.  You can get chicken or lamb flavors.  Our pups like the lamb better and it is also lower on protein, which is said by some to be good.  I found the debate over protein to have 2 camps.  One saying low protein, one saying high needed.  What I learned from reading vet's takes on this was the cal/phos issue is what matters...this is what causes bone growth problems when feeding the wrong ratios, not protein.  Most dog foods have alot of bone meal as filler in them and this is what throws off this balance.  I believe by researching, that the people at nutro are of the few that have created a dog food to deal with this issue.  It's not the protein...pups need protein to grow.  It's not about slowing growth, it's about growing correctly.  Anyway, royal canine is the only other food I would recommend, however, for much less money, the nutro is the obvious winner.  Hope this helps. ;D

Introduce Yourself to the Forum / Cheese and Piggy would like to say HI
« on: September 29, 2005, 05:19:23 pm »
;D  Cheese (English mastiff 8 months) and Piggy (English/Bull mix 6 months) would like to say Hi to everyone.... Piggy is a little shy.... Cheese is my first pet ever, my husband thought it wouldl be a wonderful experience to own a pet.  Then 2 months later, he decided to get Piggy as Cheese playmate (they've the same daddy), when we got Piggy, he was bow legged, but he was so adorable, with extra care and love he's now a little man with healthy legs.... :P
