Then perhaps you should continue to do it yourself  For the heavy double coated breeds 4 hours is probably the minimum  I personally wouldn't use a groomer if they did one of my Pyrs in an hour or so  The few times I have sent to a groomer the Pyrs are there the entire day.  And yes it is the norm to cage dry with a blower.

I don't know how you would get a Newf dry in 1/2 hour  It takes the Pyrs several hours to dry and at least 24 hours if you just let them air dry.  Even using a dryer takes them several hours to fully dry  So I believe for you to expect it to be completely done including the ears nails comb out in 1 and 1/2 hours is unreasonable.

If he had a score of 90% then he had the Penn Hip study  and 90% would equate to excellant. Penn Hips are not on the OFFA site. You know these big puppies do have a lumbering akward gait  One of my Pyrs the instructor very familiar with all breeds thought she too walked funny- not so she is OFA excellant.  So before you panic just get him checked out by the vet

It only takes a second one glance away  Our beloved getting hit by a car is every dog lovers worst fear but it only takes a second  and if the owner has taken reasonable precautions then blame should not be placed and fingers not pointed.  And certainly statements 'I would never' unless you are a robot- I'm sure even you have to go to the bathroom once in a while.

I AM a Pyr breeder and the pic of the pup- he just looks like a Pyr pup- not good not bad you can't tell from the pic and it doesn't matter anyway- he was a beloved member of the family

If results for the hips are not there then they either werren't done or preliminaries (before 2 years old) were done.  It would be odd to go to the trouble of getting cardiac and patella but not get hips so look again to be sure  You also can research his relatives to see their hip scores as well

You can also go to OFFA.org and look up health clearances of the parents in the database- that is if any were done.  With your papers you now have the name and numbers of the parents to do this search.  I agree with SC- you just need the names and last dates of vaccines so you don't duplicate.  If done at the vet- you can also just contact her vets office and they will fax over the record  If the breeder does herself then you just need to know what they were

Yep the change in hormones is probably contributing  It is normal for them to be itchy until you get all that hair out  I use a rake and or comb to hurry it up- a brush just doesn't do the job.  If you save all this fur you could spin it :>)

Long term prednisone  Rimadyl - both drugs have negative effects  Prednisone is NOT a benign drug by any means If the rimadyl is helping then keep using it.  It is distressing to watch our 'children' get old  The best you can do is keep him comfortable at this point and enjoy what time you have left together
