Mixed Breed Pictures / Update on Luke (with pics)
« on: October 13, 2006, 01:18:55 am »
Luke is fitting right in with the pack.  He would go exploring but would always come back to be with "his" pack.

He met Bobo(the mean as h*ll 19 year old cat)and I was so proud of him (Luke), he didn't even give him a second look.  As for Aruba (the other cat) I would swear I saw his eyes roll.

Grub time went well with no issues; just one more on the feeding line.  I ordered his raised bowl today so hope to have it next week.

Like with all new toys that are brought into the house everyone wanted to play with the most recent addition.  Mostly what I saw was dust and blurs.

Tyra is doing better and even shared a drink with Luke.  She still isn't sure she wants to share the toys and this includes Scooter.  Poor Luke he chases Scooter with 110 lb. "monkey" on his back.

Well that's it for now.  We have company coming in so I'm not sure how much I'll be on the next few days.  Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Cindy

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Huntington Dog Beach
« on: October 01, 2006, 09:49:27 am »
Early this morning we decided to take a road trip to Huntington.  Neither Tyra or Scooter likes to ride in the dark but we knew that they would enjoy the trip.  Anyway we left at 5am and we were all on the beach by 7am.  They had such a good time running in the sand and meeting buddies.  Tucker is our only real water dog and it was difficult to keep him out.  Anyway, here are a few pictures we took. The first one I just love; it's a wave breaking on Tuc.

The Brindle Pack has a "Nephew"

My son and his wife got a pup; a Boston terrier named Toby.

As much as I would like to be a grandma Toby is perfect for now.

Here is a picture of Toby:

Just dropped in to chat to tell people about the meteor shower but no one was there.  If you are up before day break check out the NE sky.  Not the best I've seen but decent and worth the effort if you have never watched.  Here is a link to a site with a calendar of events.

Medical Conditions & Diseases / It's Been One Year.....

....since Tucker had his last seizure. ;D

I never thought this day would come.  In addition to that great news we have also discontinued his Phenobarbital, it took over six months but he is totally off as of today.  He is still on the KBr.  Maybe one day we can even start reducing it.

Thank you for keeping Tucker in your thoughts and prayers.

Anything Non-Dog Related / Anyone Here GeoCache
« on: June 07, 2006, 04:49:00 pm »
One of the reasons I want to get back in shape is so that when we hike I don't feel like I'm going to have a heart attack.  Mack I started GeoCaching a few years ago but don't do it as much as we would like.

If you don't know about GeoCaching check out the following site:  http://www.geocaching.com/

Here are the basics:

You hunt for the "cache" using a GPS using coordinates you get on GeoCaching.com .  There are caches ALL over the world.  Once you found the hidden cache you can log your visit on GeoCaching.com .  There are different types of caches but most with little trinkets in the container.  Anyway, it is the hunt that counts and going places in your our community that you had no idea were there.  Plus you are having fun while you get a little exercise.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Strange Visitor

Strange Visitor

Last night shortly after midnight Scooter let out a couple warning barks so of course Mack and I are both bolt upright in the bed.  Out of the corner of his eye Mack saw it....someone or something was at our open bedroom window.  Before I could stop him Mack was at the window and next thing he knows a young pup is trying to come in.  I'm not sure if it was after one of the cats or seeking shelter.  Mack thought it looked scared but it definitely wanted IN.  As he closed the window the pup continued to try and get in..... I have never been afraid of a pup but let me tell you this was scary.  Mack thought it was a young (5 or 6 months) german sheppard; I am not convinced it wasn't a coyote.  It was dark and all I saw was his ears and muzzle.  We did go outside to see if we could find it but it was apparent by all the yard dwellers that were barking that it was making its way down the street.  I wanted to go find it because now I was concerned that it might be hurt but Mack didn't think it would be a good idea to be wandering in our neighbor’s yard.

Anyway it was really strange.  For a brief moment I was regretting the placement of our new window in the bedroom but then was reminded that Scooter, who was in his room, heard/smelled this animal before it ever got to our window.

Here is a picture of the window; the bottom is only 28" off the ground.  Had we not been awakened I have NO doubt this thing would have been in our room.

you have heard for surrendering a pet?

We've all heard....

moving
new baby
chews things
digs
jumps the fence
barks
not house broken

The list is never ending.  Here is a new one I heard this week....

we're remodeling

WTF does that have to do with why you are abandoning YOUR family member???  I swear I really want to smack some sense into these people.
