Anything Non-Dog Related / NDR-having your tonsils removed
« on: December 03, 2007, 11:11:08 pm »
Hi everyone,
I was just curious if any of you have advice for having your tonsils removed. My 2 yr old daughter Makaylee is having hers removed tomorrow morning and I am VERY nervous about it. Everything I have been told is that its a really painful surgery. I know that it will help her in the long run because of her asthma and HUGE tonsils, but does anyone have advice as to how I can help her with the pain and be comfortable during the recovery?
She is having surgery first thing in the morning and will be staying over night in the hospital. Please any advice is appreciated. Also keep her in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow. Thanks

Great Dane Pictures / Brody's Puppy
« on: November 18, 2007, 06:08:21 am »
Hi everyone
I just got an email from one of the lady's that took one of Brody's puppies. She took Lilly. She didn't say in her email what she named her. Here is a picture of Lilly as a puppy and a somewhat recent picture of Lilly now. She said the pictures were taken in August. The puppies will be 1 yr old on Dec 31. She promised to take some pics this week for me. She is absolutely beautiful though. The only picture I could find on this computer was Lilly at 1wk old. :)Enjoy

Anything Non-Dog Related / Thoughts and prayers needed please
« on: October 21, 2007, 09:12:34 am »
I know the strength of the prayers from BPO have touched many so I'm asking for your prayers and thoughts today. There are wild fires burning all over Southern California. My mom, dad and little brother were asked to evacuate this morning. As of 8:30am this morning they were packed and leaving their home. They can't see where the fire is, they don't know how close they are to them. Planes and helicopters are unable to fly due to the strong winds. Please keep my family and all the other people in Southern California being effected by the fire in your thoughts and prayers.

Anything Non-Dog Related / Hi everyone

Its been a very long time since I've posted. Every now and then I stop in and read a couple posts. Thought I would take a quick second to tell everyone HI. Congrats to those that are pregnant which looks like just about EVERYONE on this board. I am still having a VERY hard time dealing with the loss of Brody and having to rehome Moose. I still cry for them and our house feels empty without them. I still have my lab mix Robin. I've got 2 small paws that I'll probably register at tiny tracks when I get the time. In the last 2 months my son has started kindergarten, my son has had eye surgery, my son has also turned 5! The doctors think my 2 1/2 yr old has Autism and ADHD so we are going for lots of testing. He is a HANDFUL and there are times where I don't know how I'm going to deal with him. Thank god my 19 yr old sister moved in with me and is a great help. My daughter has recently been diagnosed with sleep apnea. She stops breathing in her sleep which is really scary, but she just had surgery last week to get her adnoids removed. Once she hits 30 lbs they need to take her tonsils out too. Hopefully it will help her. My husband is getting ready to be deployed again. He leaves the begining of the year. As of right now he will only be home for a total of 5 months next year  :-\ Kind of hard to deal with but its his job. I'll try to post again soon. But things have been really crazy. I miss all of you

Anything Non-Dog Related / FINALLY some great news
« on: May 01, 2007, 07:41:10 pm »
Well you all know that my husband is up for cut from the Air Force. I just got a call from my husband who is in Kuwait...he says I just wanted to ask you to do me a favor. I'm thinking its after 11pm and you want me to do something for you. He says I need you to gather up all my work uniforms. I said what for? do you need me to send them to you? Did they extend your leave? He says no...I need to get captain rank sewn on them by October. He didn't get cut!!! He still has a job!! I'm so excited that now I can't sleep. Finally something has gone right!! Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. I can definately kiss a load of stress good bye.

Alright guys, I'm sorry I haven't been around a lot lately. Things have been crazy around here. For those of you who don't know my husband is in Kuwait. My sister moved in with me to help with the kids while he is gone. During this time I have had a rough time with not only the fur kids but the skin kids. We had to put Brody down. We have had a lot of aggression problems in the house and we thought it was Moose causing the problems. So we rehomed him. He is in a great home with other dogs and doing WONDERFULLY! I get pics all the time and get to visit him. After Moosie left the fights continued. We had blood drawn constantly. I ended up with a dislocated shoulder and 5 stitches in my arm trying to break the 2 dogs up. Then Brody got out of the yard when I opened the gate and attacked another dog that was in the empty lot just behind us. She killed the other dog. It wasn't a small dog about 65 lbs and the only thing I could think of was that dog was twice the size of my biggest child. I couldn't handle it anymore and noone knew what to do to help us we couldn't get the military base off our backs so we had to put her down. I am absolutely heartbroken. On a better note ALL 11 puppies are doing great in their new homes. Now I need advice with my 2 1/2 yr old son. He REFUSES to do ANYTHING for himself but thats not the problem he fights you when you try to do it for him. Like getting dressed he will purposely put his arm in his neck hole then stiffen up and fight you when you try to fix it. He fights tooth and nail when you try to put him in his carseat. He will arch his back stiffen his arms I am so afraid I'm going to really hurt him trying to get him dressed. I have tried a positive route where we give him a marble for his marble jar anytime he does something without fighting, I have tried the negative route like making him wear his clothes like that, or bringing his carseat in and having him sit there until he puts his arms in the straps he will literally sit there for hours without even trying. Its not so much the fact that he doesn't do anything its the fight. I'm tired of being hit, spit at, kicked and screamed at. I don't know what to do. Any ideas? i'm sorry its sooo long. Hopefully I'll have some good news soon. Oh, keep my husband in your prayers...he is up for a cut that the air force is doing and we find out May 1st if he will still be an officer in the Air Force.

Great Dane Pictures / Puppy pics

I am sooo sorry that I haven't posted pics in awhile. As many of you know I have a 10 day old drug addicted baby in my home now. SO with the baby, the 3 kids, and the puppies finding time to do anything is VERY hard to do. The puppies will be 4 weeks old tomorrow and are growing like little weeds. Brody is feeding them once a day. I have stopped bottle feeding but am now pouring the formula into a bowl and letting them have it. VERY messy though. I have also started them on puppy mush. They are all barking, running around and getting into EVERYTHING. They are sooo much fun and I'm finding myself falling in love with a few of them.  ::) Anyways heres some pics.

« on: January 17, 2007, 08:27:31 pm »
Its hard to believe that the puppies are 2 weeks old. They never hold still so I don't have very many good pictures. They are starting to growl at each other and play with each other.

Here is a pretty bad video of the pups.
