Hi Mom2Sadie.

Wow we are in Lowell also  ;D. WE HAVE TO MAKE A PLAY DATE. Winslow is 6 months now and stands at the door when he needs to go  :D, and rushes back in when he is done.

Sadie will weather this storm! and a few more this winter I suspect. PM me if you want to try and get together, for some Newf fun time.

Hi NoDogNow,

Thanks I thought it was great and so did the neighbors too bad it has to wait ;-(  Seriously though, Leash laws and poop scoop laws are very necessary for Human and Pet health and well being.

I really dis-like those owners that can't be bothered to control either end of their dogs!!

Hi,

Ask your groomer. Most offer the service, and they charge for it. Usually it is a problem in Small breeds, the BPO's usually take care of it naturally but it does happen and it does stink.

Hi,

We had a sweet golden named Shadow on our street. The owners moved and took Shadow with them to patrol another neighborhood I guess.  Well he was not aggressive at all but liked to soil the neighbors yards. We have just moved into the neighborhood and I caught Shadow doing his business in MY YARD.

My plan at the next occurance (I knew we'd meet again because Shadow and Winslow were chummy) Was to deposit Shodow's business in a ziplock bag and Zip tie it to his collar, with a note saying

"The neighbors do not like me using their yards as a toilet" so the owner would get the message. Because telling him in person had no effect.

Well they moved before I could "unleash" my plan. BUMMER

Hi,

One other thing I forgot. Do you talk to his Breeder? If you can get a small cloth or T-shirt that has been with his mother you can put that with IZ in the crate, also throw one of yours in there too, nothing better than having the smell of his mommies in his den.

Hi Jenn,

Winslow took very well to his crate, we are now starting to let him sleep out of it and be loose in the house on short out of house trips. Small set back yesterday, he got one of my Wife's shoes  :o So he is back in the crate while we aren't there for sure again.

Since IZ has had all the bowel and tummy issues time in the crate may be a little harder for you, he knows he can't get out if he feels yucky so he probably doesn't like the confinement.

2 things to try, move the crate to the kitchen as IZ seems comfortable there he may be more comfortable there in his crate. Also get a blanket and cover 3 sides of the crate, it makes the crate more "den like" he may be more comfortable in "his Den"

Lastly you need to ignore the crying,  :-[ IT IS HARD to do, but the little fella is smart!! he knows "when I cry mommy comes running."

He will keep it up as it works. He will cry longer and longer as you ignore him so maybe plan some errands out of the house so the torture isn't as bad.  When you get home, go put your coat away, unpack what you bought turn on the TV then let IZ out. go back to your tasks so IZ associates the crate with normal activity. Like mentioned earlier, don't praise him when he is let out just say hello and pet him then go back to chores. He will catch on that the crate is his place and it is no big deal to be in there.

Hi,

I think we tried to switch too Quickly. I think I am going to add Science Diet back in till everything firms up and make a slower transition to the wellness. I think I jumped from Science to a low ratio mix of Science to Wellness (added the new bag of Wellness to what remained of the bag of Science) so it was probably too quick for his system.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi,

We are into week 3 of Winslow's change from Science Diet Large breed Puppy to Wellness Super 5 Puppy. We made the change on meeting a beautiful 13 month old newf (Maya) and her Vet owner who swears by the Wellness food.

http://www.omhpet.com/dogs/wellness_detail.asp?pCode=dryDogSup5MixPuppy

We did a week plus of mix and are now into a week plus of straight Wellness.  Winslow's stool is still very loose, he stool was fine on Science diet but not adapting to the change yet. How long do I go before looking at a diet switch again.

Wellness is a much better quality food I'd like to stay with it but not at the expense of Winslow's system. ???

Hi,

Definately a guy thing the bedliner, either that or those puzzle type rubber mats you see at playgrounds I think the Depot sells them too for kids rooms. Maybe diamond plate you know anything us Guys can take a fire hose to to clean.

Spray on, puzzle mats or Diamond plate the house, open the lowest door and turn on the hose everything goes out into the yard, hopefully the neighbors, that is lower than yours.

But reality is throw rugs for us, the rest was just wishful thinking.

Hi,

Another one that a Saint owner we met said worked for him was to give the foot pads a slight squeese while holding them. He won't like it and associate jumpimng up as a pain in the foot.

Now don't squeese to hurt just enough so Starla feels uncomfortable and Starla will catch on quick that jumping up can hurt a little.

Hi,

Well who better than a Newf to pull you out of "Said River!!" Maybe Bell wanted to parctice water rescue techniques.

Hi

Now why is everyone jumping to the conclusion that they were avoiding bear!!

Jamie might you have been having a particularly bad hair day  ;).

You are both so regal looking maybe those you passed just felt not worthy  :D with their not so Big Pawed companions.

Hi,

Remembering those no longer with us. / Re: Oasis is not coming home

Hi Jeanne,

I am sorry for your loss.  :'(  The tribute was beautiful and the joy he put in your life and your neighbors speaks volume to the Love Oasis had for his skin family.

He will be remembered for ever by many.
