Cane Corso Discussions & Pictures / Re: Cane Corso's have big paws too.

Hi and welcome to BPO.  I have a little Maggie (she's a Great Dane, so for now little), so I thought I'd say hi.  I'm a little partial to the name.  Your dogs are beautiful!

OK, I'm new here people, but who the F@$% makes up a story like that???  I don't know anyone on here well enough to make any judgements, but I sincerely hope that this is not a freaking joke!  On the other hand, I don't really want all this to be real either.  It's a lose/lose either way, but lying to everyone would be worse.   ???

Hi, I'm the sister.  I don't know of any dog parks here, I've never looked.  Your pup is 5 months?  Mine is only almost 3 months.  I'd love to meet up as well, but I think before we start going to public places like dog parks, I want her to have her shots first.  Just makes me nervous otherwise.

Breeding Questions & Information / Re: Have you heard of a "white factor"?
« on: December 11, 2005, 10:35:03 pm »
Holy crap guys, I had no idea about all that stuff!!! :o  I mean I knew that you had to do research and so on, which we would definitley do before we ever started to think about breeding, but my lord that all sounds so scary!  There are so many different factors that go into Dane breeding, sounds like it might not be for us.  Thank you for the articles, I haven't read them yet, but I will- my computer is retarded right now and I can't get on very often.  Maggie's parents were Mantle and Harle, so at least that litter was ok.  I wonder why she'd do an all Harle breeding- makes me wonder what kind of research she's done!

High School biology was almost 10 years ago for me :o, but that rings a bell.  I remember all that genetic stuff, and I guess it would be recessive, but I wonder if all Harles carry that since they have so much white on them.  I'm just curious, I never thought about having to worry about that if we ever breed her.  We still have a few years before we'd breed, but just thought I'd ask.  Of course we'd do all the other research before breeding, but I didn't know we'd have to do a genetic makeup as well.

Breeding Questions & Information / Have you heard of a "white factor"?
« on: December 09, 2005, 01:23:18 pm »
My breeder was expecting a litter at the end of November from a Harle to Harle breeding of Great Danes.  The parents are beautiful, and I thought that the pups would be jsut gorgeous.  Well, they only ended up having 3 live puppies, two of which are almost totally white, and one merle.  She thinks the white ones will at least be deaf, and possibly blind too.  I was wondering why this happended?  She said one of the parents must be "white factored", so I wanted to know what that is?  Are there tests that you can run for that?  Are you not supposed to breed two Harles?  I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about this?

A bear cub, really???  Don't people just amaze you? LOL  Maggie gets called a dalmation everywhere we go.  She's still little, so maybe it's a little harder to tell now.  Can't wait til she gets bigger.  Have you ever seen a dalmation that looks like this??? ;D ;D ;D

Anything Non-Dog Related / Re: OK...Who else watches the Office

Oh, the Christmas one was too funny...i also just loved the scene with the lighting of the tree and they only had one stand on them LMAO

Yeah, I loved it when Dwight was trying to convince Stanley that he needed to plug in the lights for safety reasons, and then goes "I wanna do it!" and grabs the cord...

You almost have to watch the episodes more than once to get all the little subtleties in them.  Arrested Development is like that too...

We TIVO the show, and then watch it again like 2 days later.  It is even funnier the second time, b/c you do pick up on little subtleties that you missed the first time.  My husband is a manager at a mortgage company, and he laughs out loud the whole time, and cringes when Michael says some of that stuff!!! ;D  He just says over and over again, "HR nightmare".  It's a great show!!!

I'm going to look up this Rescue Remedy stuff you mentioned- everyone so far has recommended that and I've never heard of it before.  Maybe the garage thing would work, they certainly have plenty of room to work with in there.... I'm going to pass on all of these great ideas, thanks for the suggestions.

Bella and Abba are very spoiled.  Probably the most spoiled dogs I've ever seen.  That being said, they are also very well-behaved, when Kate and Ryan are home with them.  They get attention every minute of the day that they are home with them.  They do go to doggy daycare probably 2-3 times a week, but they just can't afford EVERY day.  They have tried so many different things with her, but nothing seems to work.  It's almost like they've given her TOO MUCH attention, that she doesn't know what to do with herself when they're not with her.  The idea of having a room to just leave them in might be ok, except that the house is brand new (they just built it), and there isn't really a room that they don't care about right now.

I have to agree with the others, it's a submissive move on their part.  I don't know why they would suddenly do that though, especially if nothing has changed.  Weird.

OK, I've seen those before.  That's not a bad idea at all.  I'll let her know tonight.  Anything's worth a try right now. ;)  Thanks again.

That's hilarious that Simon followed you so far.  What a little sweetie.  We have two adult cats, and they are having a hard time with the new puppy.  She wants to play, but she snips at them, and they hate it.  Oh, what I would give for some great pictures of them all together, like you have.  Those are priceless!

Hi, thanks for the suggestions.  Only, I don't know what an ex-pen is? ???  She's 28 inches at the shoulder right now, but I'm sure she couldn't jump that high.  The only problem with the bitter apple and hot sauce is that she always goes for something else, so they wouldn't even know where to put it.  Also, right now, the main problem is the walls.  They have to patch and repair every time.

My friend has asked me to post this in hopes that someone has some idea of what to do to help her with her dog.  She has a 1 year-old Italian Mastiff named Bella.  Bella breaks out of her cage, every one that they've ever put her in, and then destroys the house!!!  She apparantly bangs her head on the cage (a wire one) until she can squeeze out, opens the door from the room that she's in, and then; eats the couch, scratches holes in the middle of walls, rips up shoes, eats clothing, etc., etc., etc.  They have another dog, a rotty named Abba, that they keep in the same room with Bella, to try to help keep her calm, but she breaks out anyway, and then they both have run of the house.  They just moved into their brand new dream home 5 days ago, and already have 6 holes in the walls.  She doesn't know what else to do.  They've talked about padlocking the cage closed, but they're afraid that she'll kill herself trying to break out.  Any suggestions? ???
