Great Dane Pictures / Maggie loves to wear my shirts...pics!
« on: March 30, 2006, 12:40:34 pm »
The other day, I was getting ready for a shower, and I always let Maggie in the bathroom with me, so she doesn't have to go in her bed.  Well, every piece of clothing that I was taking off, she was picking up and carrying it around, it was really funny.  So, I put a t-shirt over her head, and then through her legs, and she loved it!! :D  I had never dressed her up before, but now she tries to get in my shirts every day :D  She's so cute!

Great Dane Discussions / Re: Another question - male vs. female?

I agree, you will learn a lot from the parents of the dogs- pick based on that.  I don't know about male danes, this  is our first dane and she's a female, and still a puppy.  She is friendly with everyone and everything, but she is kinda protective- we can already tell.  Not so much with my husband, but with me she tends to stand in front of me and whatever else is going on, and she leans on my legs while doing it.  It's kind of like "I got you mom, don't worry!"  She's adorable.  She barks like crazy at anyone that might be walking by on the sidewalk in the front of the house ;)

Now that I know a little more about puppies and such, I always hear 8 weeks is the time for them to leave their mommas.  We did get 2 puppies from the mall a long time ago, and they were both like 6 weeks or so, and tehy turned out great!  I think as long as you feel comfortable with it, you should be ok. ;)

Those are great!!  cody's just beautiful, he's so fat though ;)  I didn't know Angus got to play in the snow...that's great that he didn't try to eat anyone- just the snow :D ;)

Maggie eats three times a day.  she's still young, so she should eat more often than older dogs.  :)

We had a hard time agreeing on a name for our "little baby."  We finally had it narrowed down to Lainie and Maggie, when I saw the Petsmart commercial (sometimes they still play it) with the Harle Great Dane- at the end of the commercial the guy says the dog's name- it was Maggie!!  That was it, I was sold!

He is the cutest!  He's already over 100lbs?  Maggie's one week older than him, and she's only about 65-70lbs.  That's ok, she'll still be huge even if she's smaller.   ;)

Maggie always tries to touch everything with her paws:  us, the doors, the cats, the laundry piled on the floor...  I thought she learned it from the cats :D  Yeah, now that she's getting bigger and heavier, it hurts like crazy when she gets you with those big 'ol things ;)

Cody does look like he has green eye-shadow on- I might've done that when I was removing the red-eye...  it's still cute!

This is the funniest stuff that I've read in awhile!!! :D :D :D  You are all cracking me up!!!  Maggie does the same thing in the bathroom, follows you in and gets in the way, always resting her head on my lap...The best was when she was little and followed Wes in the bathroom, well, actually, he was in mid-pee when she walked in on him- you can imagine what happened with that one :P :o :P

My good friend's take their dogs to Doggy Day Care.  They have a Rott and a Mastiff, and they absolutely love it!  I think it's a good idea, if you can afford it.  If you think she's too tired, then try cutting back from 5 days to only 2 or 3 a week.  Then, she would still get to play and interact with the other dogs, but she would have time to rest as well.

I think he's a beautiful young dog.  He looks very similar to Angus, I think anyway, and he's about the same age.  They are short-haired, which is a different look than long-haired, which is what many people see and think of.  I think he looks great, and he will fill out.  Give him time. ;)
