1143502- Dog:Dogue de Bordeaux
Chvl,NY (585)494-0422 Lori Kellogg dog.control@townofriga.org 5-11-2006
Name: Hooch
Age:about 4 yrs old
Sex:M
Size:XL
Delete Hooch was found abandoned in a local park. he was emaciated & covered with bleeding sores. He also has large areas of calloused skin, that the vet thinks came from laying on a hard cage floor for much of his life. Its pretty obvious that hooch has been abused, as he is very hand shy. Despite being abused, once hes over his inital shyness, he is very friendly and loves kids. He seems to get along with female dogs but not males. He is heartworm negative and has his vaccinations. A $50.00 fee is requested to cover vet bills
.

Please fire the control officer that beat the dog!

Please sign this: PETITION:  http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/Devore101/

It asks the Board of Supervisors to please fire the 6'5" uniformed
'officer' still working there that Devore workers say beat up a little
17 pound dog cowered in the corner of a cage wailing! See pictures of
the dog and bloody cage: HERE
(http://www.nokillnow.com/devorebeating.htm).

And it asks Devore to change it's practices!

This pound is in California but we want them to know their little
country pound is being watched by the world!

What makes Devore pound one of the deadliest places of all is the
administration's practice of killing dogs and cats daily - EVEN WHEN
1/2 THE CAGES ARE EMPTY. This pound is managed by San Bernardino County.

These animals are NOT being killed for lack of space. And they are NOT
being killed for illness or aggression in almost every case. Some say
the killing goes on because it is cheaper and easier to manage a pound
with a lower population.

One Devore supervisor stated in a public meeting that the quick
killing was for the benefit of the staff who didn't like to hear the
animals cry. This is the same County that was fired and publicly
censured by the City Counsel in Rancho Cucamonga for failing to
provide rudimentary care to the City's animals. Those officials all
started out skeptical of the accusations against the County, but
concluded after their own investigation, that there were violations of
law and improper treatment of animals.

One of the foremost animal attorneys in the State believes Devore's
practices are violations of California's shelter law.

Some of us rescues have broken our backs and wallets to take out
animals to leave space so others can live, only to find out the
killing continued ANYWAY!

Devore, PLEASE STOP!! What can YOU do?
First, please sign our PETITION -
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/Devore101/

Next, go to this WEBSITE -  http://www.nokillnow.com/devore.htm
and write officials that you want to see these and other unlawful
practices at Devore stopped!

Puppies For Sale

 Â

Â   A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising the 4 pups. And set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was driving the last nail into the post, he felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down into the eyes of little boy.

Â    "Mister," he said, "I want to buy one of your puppies."

Â   "Well," said the farmer, as he  rubbed the sweat off the back of his neck, "These puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money."

The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer.

"I've got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a  look?"

"Sure," said the farmer. And with that he let out a  whistle. "Here, Dolly!" he called. Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran

Dolly followed by four little balls of fur.

Â   The little boy pressed his face against the chain link fence. His eyes danced with delight.

Â    As the dogs made their way to the fence,
 Â

the little boy noticed something else   stirring inside the doghouse.
Slowly another little ball appeared, this one noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid. Then in a somewhat awkward manner, the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up....

"I want that one," the little boy said, pointing to the runt. The farmer knelt down at the boy's side and said, "Son, you don't want that puppy.  He will never be able to run and  play with you like these other dogs would."

Â   With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers.

Â    In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself to a specially made shoe.

Â   Looking back up at the farmer, he said, "You see sir, I don't run too well myself, and he will need   someone who understands."

Â   With tears in his eyes, farmer reached down and picked up the little pup.

Holding it carefully handed it to the little boy.

Â   "How much?" asked the little boy.  "No  charge,"  answered the farmer, "There's no charge for love."

Â   The world is full of people who need someone who understands.

It's National Friendship Week.

How do you know if your dog has a cold? My one keeps walking around sneezing and snorting. Now the snorting is something he does when he is excited to see me and then he stops. Right now he just keeps snorting and sneezing. I thought maybe since we haven’t had a lot of rain that maybe the pollen count was high and this might be bothering him. He has an appetite and seems to be himself I can’t figure it out! PLEASE let me know if you have any answers. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL OF YOU DOG MOM’S

Update on: Father of triplets Looking for forever home for English Mastiff

Well I posted an update on Jewel the English Mastiff who needed a home ASAP she was living with a family who had triplets. They didn’t have enough time to spend with jewel and she needed a loving forever home. I had been working on finding her a foster or forever home so that she could get the proper care and love that she needed. Easter weekend I received an e-mail letting me know that she would be on her way to a forever home. I was so excited that she would finally be on her way to a loving home. Well a strange turn of events has taken place and I m not even sure I can express these turn of events jewel owner didn’t own her as it turns out! She was taken to her forever home and when the paper work exchange took place his name was not listed as owner!  co-owner was filled in at a later date. The woman who had agreed to take Jewel could not take her since he was not the owner but let him know when he did get ownership she would be more than happy to take her. He had listed this dog with many different groups and I spent endless hours on finding her a loving home please pray for jewel and hope that this man takes the proper actions so that she can be placed in this loving home ~ Marina
