I was just logging in to post a similar post!  Anna Banana is losing all the fur on her back...and I mean ALL the fur!  Our vet doesn't open again until Monday when I will take her in.  She had a hot spot a few weeks ago which we treated, but the fur hasn't grown back in, and now just below it she's losing more, and its seeping a bit.  Poor thing....she's so itchy and I can see scaley stuff under the fur.  I have been trying to keep her combed out but it makes her itchier....

Barkley was a major snorer and Sheba can hold her own as well.  Anna is the quietest sleeper I've ever met in a Newf though!  I love Sheba's rottie song when she is stretching and waking up....love it!

So glad to hear her year is starting off well!  Loved the picture of her on the couch!

So I'm a little late but the house has been so crazy I haven't been able to get a quiet evening to myself and the girls to get their pictures by the tree.  And even when I did last night, Miss Sheba refused to pose for me.  She's such a diva  :D

Anyhow, here's Anna Banana and her Merry Christmas wish to all her friends at BPO!

Thanks guys...as always!

Amy, it's ironic that you mention Barkley (and how sweet are you for remembering his date??).  After I posted today, I reread the thread from the day he crossed over, and had a good bawl in rememberance of the day, the amazing dog and friend that he was, and the incredible support that we received from BPO!  I have the thread bookmarked in my favourites, and go back every once in a while to read it and remember.  There's no one else quite like your first big paw!

I think I'll try the rice and hamburg or chicken for her supper tonight.  She loves the kaopectate, but it's not working for her.  Might try the imodium as well.

Thanks everyone!
Sandy

Mixed Breed Discussion / Anna Banana and an update

I've really been missing in action, although I do pop back and read frequently.

We're having some problems with Anna Banana, and I've just been reading similar issues with Fumbles.  She's had the diahhrea for the last four nights - can't make it through the night.  This morning it had some blood in it - not bright red, but definitely blood.  She's had nothing unusual to eat...we never give the girls people food of any sort...and no bones or other treats.  I'm fairly certain she hasn't gotten into anything since there's no evidence of rooting or shredding in the basement, where they both sleep.

And of course it's a long weekend here so the vet isn't around until Tuesday.  Our emergency vet clinic is horrid here.  She doesn't seem to be in any pain, is still eating and drinking, and has good energy.

Last time she had the poopies, the dr told me to put her on kaopectate ... so I started that yesterday.  I had hoped it might solidify things but no go so far, and in fact, now the blood  :-\

Send some good thoughts to the goofy newf will you please?

So good to see Fumbs (and you!) again!  I'm trying to get better about checking in more regularly too.

And every one of them is a Landseer!!!! How beautiful is that?  I'd be in Landseer heaven!

Thank goodness for BPO and venting eh?  I can relate on the stepmom side of things, and know that Anna Banana and Sheba hugs and drools are awesome therapy for those kind of days.

We went through several heats with Anna and pooping/peeing were par for the course there.  Hope both of you are feeling better soon!

They're both gorgeous!  Not sure if you're talking about human girls or fur girls bickering (hehehe...sorry) but if it's fur girls, all I can say is that when we brought Anna home, we really made sure to pay extra attention to Sheba since she had been here first and by herself for about six months.  They still have the odd spat, and they're still not best of friends, but when they think we're not looking, we do see them cuddling and playing.

Good luck and congratulation s!

I've just been so busy with school, work, kids, and of course my dogs!

I found some time today to come for a BPO visit and am now trying to get caught up on everyone's news.  Looks like there was something in the BPO water - I'm seeing pregnancy tickers all over the place!!

Our girls are doing great!  Sheba has been having some behaviour issues, and oddly enough, Anna Banana is being the good dog lately!  She will be 2 on Dec 3 and had a growth spurt here not long ago.  She's filled out and looks amazing!  And such a sweetie ... so friendly and loving.

Ms Sheba is minding her being here a bit I think, and we worry now that we may have actually corrected Anna for a few things that Sheba did!  Oh well - thankfully we're gentle correctors.

Remember the digging that Anna was doing?  Stopped!  (Thank goodness!) and also no more peeing in the house either.

I'm hoping to get time to take them both down to get their pictures taken with Santa tomorrow!  In the meantime, you can visit them on my facebook album by following these links:

Fumble!!!! I've missed seeing that big guy and his antics!  I have to go read up about this not feeling well thing...don't like the sounds of that!

Our Anna Banana was a small landseer as well.  Note the word WAS ... hehehe.  I think I can relate to how you're feeling.  Our Barkley was so big that when we got Anna and I saw that she wasn't the same size, I felt disappointed.

Well...let me tell you...she's small no more!  She will be 2 on Dec 3 and she has hit a growth spurt in the last three or four months!  Filled out - got taller - and I might be wrong, but I think even her head has gotten bigger!

It wouldn't matter though - like you, she's huge in my eyes and my heart, and we love them exactly the way they are.  But I'd buy one of your t-shirts...hehe

Like Rich and Jaime, we used to welcome you into our home with a hug and a dishtowel when we had Barkley.  He's been gone over a year, and I'm STILL finding dried drool on ceilings and behind furniture.  The latest was behind the very heavy entertainment centre in the living room.  He drooled while he slept...and it was indeed excessive, thick and slimey!  We found out late in his life that he had an almost constant low grade ear infection though - and once we treated that, the drool reduced considerably.  Something to be aware of.

Now Ms Anna Banana rarely drools!  She will slime you after a drink of water and occasionally if there's a particularly delish looking piece of food around, but for the most part, she's pretty dry.  We're ok with that! hehe
