Setter Discussions & Pictures / Question about Shamus's tail
« on: June 01, 2006, 09:25:48 am »
Being he is my first setter , I am not sure if his tail is suppose to be like this.
It feels like it is ribbed. kind of like those wooden snakes that wou wiggle and his hair on it is filling in like it is twirled around it. If the kids hadn't taken the batteries  out of my camera I would show you. I have searched every picture I could find of setters to see if I could get a close up of the tail but aside from the older ones that already had the feathered tail I couldn't find any.

Meet & Greet BPOers / sorry for the late replies
« on: May 23, 2006, 10:57:44 am »
My computers fan went out or I would have replied to the meet and greet earlier.
Like I said I will probably just commute to see everyone. Unless my Mom is still up from Florida and then I will already be haning at Sand CReek. If you need to negotiate at that particular campground I might be able to help I have known the managers since I was five so that has been about 33 years. They are my sisters husbands Mom and step dad.

Medical Conditions & Diseases / Sepration anxiety getting worse
« on: May 02, 2006, 12:46:11 am »
I realize that Shamus is only four and a half months old,  however he follows me to every room. He cries at the bathroom door when I shut it. He is asleep right now at my feet while I am infront of the computer.
If I were to get up right now he would be right behind me. He gets left for maybe an hour a day and he doesn't destroy anything but I know he has barked himself into a frenzy because when I get home he is still barking. How can I help him get over this?

Setter Discussions & Pictures / House cleaning with my turd
« on: April 25, 2006, 09:25:50 pm »
Oh my he is a handful today.I am spring cleaning and he is helping. He has helped run off with the paper towls, he has helped get rid of two stuffed animals by shredding them. He is really underfoot today. He is always underfoot but today he has tripped me countless times.if I move from one end of the room to the other he will follow right behind me if I stop to fast I may end up with a setter in my backside.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / It is official ADD
« on: April 12, 2006, 06:54:44 am »
I swear Shamus has ADD. We went out to poddy and he brought in a stick laid down then wanted back out. He went this time but only after trying to figure out what he was smelling in the wind. Terroizing the cats, playing with CUjo and then trying to lead his own leash. He would act like he was ready to go then jump up and find some other trouble to get into.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / question on nightmeres
« on: April 12, 2006, 05:14:40 am »
Shamus has nightmeres everytime he sleeps. At least I think they are nightmeres . He whines while he sleeps is this normal and please don't suggest a doggie shrink. lol .He is only 12 weeks old and we have had him for two weeks think maybe he is still missing his family.

My Pyr is four years old and my Irish setter is three months old.
Aside from my two dog children I have four real kids, several barn cats(people are forever dumping them here) We live in the middle of nowhere .
Cujo is the Pyr and Shamus is the Irish Setter

Great Pyrenees Discussions / Hi new here to the board
« on: April 11, 2006, 07:07:32 am »
Hi I am a proud owner of a Pyrenees , he is a great dog and a wonderful protector. We came about Cujo through an ad of someone who didn't have the property for him. We needed him because of the high coyotee poplulation here. We live on about 7 or 8 thousand acres so he is an outside dog. On farming days he gets kenneled until they are done in the fields and back out to play. He gets along with the farmers however they occasionally hire new people and yelling Cujo come , as a huge dog is bounding toward some one has a tendency to scare the bejeebers out of people. Can't figure that one out. :P
