Saint Bernard General Discussions / Re: I saw my first drool!! LOL!

When we went to go get our 5 month old Saint to bring her home for the first time, I took lots of paper towels because I was just sure she'd drool everywhere! But I was amazed to see that she had a dry mouth and dry neck! Only when she drinks does she drool. It's not pretty, but hey, what can you do?!

Saint Bernard General Discussions / Re: Question for Saint owners

My Saint Dolly is very clumsy, to describe her in one word! But she is sooo loving. She is very sensitive as well. We have a hard-headed Alaskan Malamute, who takes a light slap to get her to stop doing something bad. But Dolly, if you look at her wrong, she will sulk with her head down and walk away sadly. Saints are most importantly, though, big teddy bears who are gentle and love kids especially. And mine drools only when she drinks! So the Beethoven movie wasn't exactly right!

Alaskan Malamute Discussions / Re: Has anyone had this happen?

When my Malamute Zoey was 7 months old, we decided she needed a playmate. When we got our 5 month old Saint Bernard to bring home, Zoey was quite a bit bigger than her, so we worried that she'd bully her. She did! And our Saint was rather docile, so we worried she'd annoy her. She does! But after 6 months of being together now, they are inseparable. Give your dog time to get used to the new one, and they usually will be fine. Bye!
