Medical Conditions & Diseases / Re: UTI Questions
« on: May 01, 2006, 01:44:03 am »
Cider had a uti when she was little and I got all paro that it might happen again..
Make sure that while it's being cured and after that there's plenty of fresh water, and that it's as 'appetising' as possible.  Like refilling it a little more often if it's kinda warm.. has dirt, kibble floaters lol..
Probiotic yogurt a little bit a day can help along with antibiotics to clear it up, and can help as a future prevention measure.
And female dogs with a tendancy to get uti's semi regularly may be having a problem with urine pooling in their vagina.  Loose tissue holding some of it up, where bacteria then can go in the wrong direction and cause a uti.  If it is the case a baby wipe and getting a little up close and personal with your furbaby can help in the long run to keeping the bacteria minimized.

Tee hee, I don't have a dog big enough for a blocky dog collar but love them and convinced Liz that she had to have one.

Boxer Discussions & Pictures / Re: Minature Boxer???
« on: April 29, 2006, 10:43:43 am »
It's simply an out of standard boxer, but unethical byb's will advertise them as mini boxers and be breeding the tiniest ones together to try to keep them as small as possible.  Another designer fad if refered to as mini boxers.  Super cute when it's an oops of mother nature.

I was gonna ask. I thought maybe some kind of hare krishna bell ringing zealot or something..
ROTFLMAO that is the best thing I've heard all damn day..

I've had bad run-in's in my normal life with creepy folk.. To the point where I started joking with friends I needed a dane or dobe for protection (in looks only figured most losers would be scared even if it was a sucky loving dog).

I'll take anyone's baby's for babysitting though.  lol.  Love to scare our a** of a mailperson too, his attitude towards my furbaby has been harsh with her in my own yard..

She's always been sketchy with bikes even though I'm not sure she saw that this was a bike through the freezer.  But he was so loud neighbourhood dogs were howling..

*kicks dickie dee guy*

Imagine if I had a breed the general public percieves as scary though and my dog broke loose?  Could have been a nightmare..

Anything Non-Dog Related / Re: Just a vent about my Parents
« on: April 29, 2006, 05:43:54 am »
I understand.. I'm young and unmarried.. but I've seen it happen in our family.  My Mother's parents have favourites within their own kids, and it dictates which grandchildren are liked best.. and I'm not high up on the liked list.
It was bad enough before I got a dog, then I pretty much got exiled...
My grandmother has emailed my snobby rich cousins weekly for years.. We get to hear on a too often basis what expensive hobby they've taken up or what ridiculously expensive vacation they are going on.  Versus only when I screw up in my life does anyone really care..
Sorry to hijack your rant, just wanted you to know I understand,.. And if you weren't so far away, I love to babysit kids.  :)

OMG.. So I was walking Cider.. we are working on loose leash walking. Dickie Dee guy is coming down the street every so often ringing his bells. Gets 20-30ft to Cider, starts ringing them out of control non stop. Cider strains at the end of the leash, freaks out, and snaps the end of the leash she is so scared, and the guy thinks it's hilarious.
I miraculously call her back, and we have to jog for more than a block to get away from him because he won't leave her alone.
I called dickie dee in town, they are really sorry, and plan to tell their people to leave dogs alone.
Nearly had a heart attack over it, came home and I was shaking more than her...
Guess that'll nicely regress our walking skills but at least she didn't bolt in front of a car or just keep running.

If a dog is in training I fully understand.  It's just the people who fully admit their dog is a problem and let them still socialize whether they 'meant' to or not..

I guess Cider is a guy magnet.  I was walkign Cider on a busy street, she pooped, I go to clean it up and I get three different cars of guys hollering at me tellign me I'm hot and stuff.  Man, I was picking up POOP!

I was in Petcetera.  And there was this dog in the middle on an aisle I wanted to be in, I start talking to it.. Cider sniffs a little and all of a sudden *SNAP*

Dog was on a flexi leash out to its max while the nasty owner was an aisle over.  Her and the stunned dog from being thwaked back to it's owner come over and she screams at me for letting my dog near her agressive one.

Hi.  Petstore.  Your fault, your dog shouldn't be here.  And My dog is stuck 4-6 ft from my body max.  Yikes.

My cocker had bad matts in her armpits.. went to the groomer, and the groomer accidentally took a large chunk out of her while trying to cut out the matts..  Thankfully she covered the 730 bucks it cost for surgery, but I've been paro ever since.

Few weeks ago there were lumps under her ears, that were so tight-packed I thought they were part of her ear with cartiledge inside.  Finally figured out they were awful matts.  Took me an hour each side with kids saftey sissors to cut them down and out.  I've decided to keep clipped down that spot and her armpits in future it scared me so badly.  Had to have hurt like heck they were pulled so tight.

I felt like such a bad Mom, but I brush her often.. so it wasn't from not caring :(
