Newfoundland Discussions / Bear- the agility dog??? Updated wth video
« on: June 27, 2008, 08:20:00 pm »
So, Bear is the number one cheerleader of the dogs at agility contests. When he sees them he barks in this high pitched, excited voice that is soooo funny! He just can't contain himself.

Anyhow, Michael's company makes the AKC line of toys and has a contest- an agility contest.  :o Tonight he is bringing the poles home so that we can film Bear weaving. It should be fun....I'm laughing as I write this because fatty is going to do it so slowly if he can even do it at all.  ::) I'll post some pics once we do it.  ;D

Hi everyone! As many of you know, we have been in the middle of a making an upgraded server switch for BPO for the past week or so. In making this database migration, there have been many problems- most of which I don't understand and leave to the main computer boys to fix (hubby, b.i.l., server company).

In any case, the switch has been slow and is occurring over time in different areas. This effects you all because the switch doesn't get to everyone at once. Not all data will be able to make the switch either since it is not happening consistently, so you might make a post here but it will be on the old server and not the new one. Also, there was a little bit of corruption with the data which has been difficult to clean up. So, the outcome from all of this is likely to be a loss of about the last 1,000 posts. Therefore, we recommend that you save the last few posts you wrote on your personal computer if you'd like to and then repost them tomorrow morning as a back up plan.

Thanks for your patience & understanding during this difficult time.

Newfoundland Pictures / Favorite "then & now" pics
« on: May 13, 2008, 08:14:06 pm »
When Mr. Bear was little he loved to be in the bathroom curled around the toilet.  ::) He hasn't done anything like that in forever because he is simply way to large to fit anywhere in the vicinity.  :) Well, he came back to his roots a couple months back when we were snowboarding. As you can see, his facial expression is the same as he snuck himself into the tiniest shower known to man.

So everyone...let's see your faves.

Newfoundland Pictures / Pics, pics, & more pics of Mr. Bear & friends
« on: April 22, 2008, 08:30:39 am »
Last Sunday we were lucky enough to meet up with our old pal Mari and her handsome boy Chester & Cowboy. It's been so long since we've seen them that we were pumped just to go to their beautiful home. Well, we got there and were greeted by not only the homeowners  :) but also the nicest couple, their daughter & the cutest puppy ever- Sebastian. I was in heaven with their puppy but Bear had other thoughts.  ::)

Later on, after Bear ran around & had a dip in the pool, Garmin (another Newf) came over with his mom Pam as did the baby Berny Rolly and his mom. It was a fun filled day in the sun with 6 adorable, fluffy boys.

Below are pics and 2 videos. 1 more will come tomorrow but youtube sucks and won't load it.  :P

Treatment & Preventative Meds / Post-neuter question
« on: March 26, 2008, 08:02:30 pm »
Bear had the big snip-snip yesterday and I was preparing for the worst but am soooo surprised. He was loopy last night, walked so slowly and didn't want to eat- all which was expected. Well, he was still kinda slow this morning when he went out but then...whoa nelly!
When I came home he was all tail wags and love. As soon as I took off his e-collar he he rolled over onto his side and put up his arm for some arm-pit/belly rubs. Then, as we got ready to go outside, he was all about his regular booty rubs and wiggle-waggles. As we walked across the street he wanted to run and even lifted his leg to pee.

So, my question is- is this normal day after surgery behavior or is he a wierdo? I even checked to make sure they had done something and not just taken my money.  ;)

We have finally taken enough pics to post here and get them on BPO. So, without further-a-do, here is the original Bear with his best friend Milo (in our loft, in his loft, and at the coolest mountain hiking spot in the heart of Hollywood) and then some of him at the dog park.

Treatment & Preventative Meds / Neutering Question
« on: January 21, 2008, 11:56:16 pm »
So I have a question and need your advice. Bear is an old man of 5 who is still intact. We chose to follow our breeder's advice and not fix him. Luckily, he is awesome and has never been a problem. He occasionally gets uncomfortable when a girl is in heat and grinds his teeth  >:( when he licks girl pee (ewwww) but otherwise is terrific. I know people say behaviors after a certain age can't be changed but I am wondering...he has never "done it" or gotten close so I'm not sure he knows how.  :) He also is not aggressive or mean ever. So, if we neutered him now, do you think it would help him to be more chill or ease his frustrations during heat seasons?

Newfoundland Discussions / Wow! Powerful Pee...Poor Tree
« on: November 12, 2007, 01:08:15 pm »
So I had to share what happened a few hours ago with Bear. You guys know we live in downtown LA and that there is not a lot of grassy areas and/or trees here. Well, our park across the street is mostly closed due to the winter ice rink being built. The decorations are beautiful- lights & other colorful Christmas stuff is all over.

So, we are walking on our small patch of grass and Bear pees as usual on a tree. No biggie right? Well, when he pees on the tree, he gets a few lights wet and BAM! The entire tree of lights goes off.  :o I was laughing but was totally embarrassed too. Who knew he could do that? No wonder the grass is always dead huh?  :D

Anyhow, I told the admin for the park after the lame security guards complained and she laughed, no howled, at what Bear did. Glad I'm not in trouble.  ;)
