Magic and his human counterparts had a wonderful day today at the hospital..prov iding  smiles..and tears of joy to some..

This is him before we went in...Next year I need to make cloth bows..by the end of the day his big pretty bow had fallen apart with all the petting and him shaking off..but we had a great day for young and older kids..

Holiday Things / Forgotten Dog's Christmas Poem
« on: December 04, 2007, 06:33:40 am »
I thought this was a very touching poem to share at this time of  year.I can't think of one person I have met on this board that this applies to,,,but I hadn't heard this one and maybe there are people in your lives that you know that should read this...I thought it was very good.

~~Forgotten Dog's Christmas~~

'Twas the night before  Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a  mouse

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care
In hopes that  St. Nicholas soon would be there

The children were nestled all snug in  their beds
With no thought of the dog filling their head

And mamma in  her 'kerchief, and I in my cap
Knew he was cold, but didn't care about  that

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
I sprang from the  bed to see what was the matter

Away to the window I flew like a  flash
Figuring the dog was free of his chain and into the trash

The  moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the luster of mid-day to  objects below

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear
But Santa  Claus - with eyes full of tears

He un-chained the dog, once so lively and  quick
Last year's Christmas present, now painfully thin and sick

More  rapid than eagles he called the dog's name
And the dog ran to him, despite  all his pain

"Now, DASHER! now, DANCER! now, PRANCER and VIXEN!
On,  COMET! on CUPID! on, DONNER and BLITZEN!

To the top of the porch! To the  top of the wall!
Let's find this dog a home where he'll be loved by  all."

I knew in an instant there would be no gifts this year
For Santa  Claus had made one thing quite clear

The gift of a dog is not just for  the season
We had gotten the pup for all the wrong reasons

In our  haste to think of the kids a gift
There was one important thing that we  missed

A dog should be family, and cared for the same
You don't give a  gift, then put it on a chain

And I heard him exclaim as he rode out of  sight
"You weren't given a gift! You were given a LIFE!"

Bouvier de Flandres Discussions & Pictures / Happy Birthday to Magic
« on: November 21, 2007, 06:16:21 am »
Tomorrow is Magic's Bithday and he will be doing what he loves best  visiting the kids at the hospital.

This year our usual Wednesday and the holiday fall in the same week so we chose the holiday...

We had our Thanksgiving dinner today and of course the fur kids got to have real gravy in their dinners..

Magic born on Thanksgiving make me really thoughtful of all we have to be Thankful for this year especially....

9 years old..it doesn't seem possible that it has been that long ago that I mid-wived him into this world..

I always said he went from God's hands into mine..and I still feel that way..

He truly is a Magical Boy

Groans, Gripes, Brags & Boasts / CHRISTMAS CAME EARLY AT MY HOUSE
« on: November 14, 2007, 10:26:51 am »
 We can breath again!!!!!!!!!!!WHOOOOOOOOOOHO O!!!!!!!!!
We could not have gotten better news today if we tried...

All that is needed is follow up and checks ....

All that was done at VA is at UM Cancer Center for their review and conformation of diagnosis.

All the Dr's on the tumor board agree that this was mis-labeled as a large B Cell skin lymphoma..

They believe that it is not..and it is a Primary Subcutaneous Follicular Lymphoma

All the tests run,,
PET Scan NORMAL
Mug scan NORMAL
Blood work NORMAL
Cat Scans NORMAL
And NO CANCER in the lymphodes removed

So unless they find something at UMC Cancer center that VA did not..he will continue to be ck'd on for at least the next year..

Reoccurrence of this is common they do tend to come back...which is what everyone will be looking for

Can you say MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's possible their server was inundated with emails so they shut it down.  Undeterred, I went to the official State of NJ website to contact Corzine.

I selected "Law and Public Safety" from the topics list, then "Court System" from the sub-topic list, which then allowed me to send the email.

I didn't try phoning, as I figured the phone lines would be swamped too.  Hopefully Corzine will come through on this.

FAQs about puppies / Puppy Size
« on: October 29, 2007, 02:37:14 pm »
I had to post this even without the pictures,,,You can put your own pictures in this one.

Puppy Size
This is one of the neatest stories you will ever hear. You will know
precisely what this little girl is talking about at the end (you'll
want to share this one with your loved ones and special friends)!

'Danielle keeps repeating it over and over again. We've been back to
this animal shelter at least five times. It has been weeks now since
we started all of this,' the mother told the volunteer.

'What is it she keeps asking for?' the volunteer asked.

'Puppy size!' replied the mother.

Well, we have plenty of puppies, if that's what she's looking for.'

'I know...we have seen most of them,' the mom said in frustration...

Just then Danielle came walking into the office

'Well, did you find one?' asked her mom. 'No, not this time,'
Danielle said with sadness in her voice. 'Can we come back on the
weekend?'

The two women looked at each other, shook their heads and laughed.

'You never know when we will get more dogs. Unfortunately, there's
always a supply,' the volunteer said.

Danielle took her mother by the hand and headed to the door. 'Don't
worry, I'll find one this weekend,' she said.

Over the next few days both mom and dad had long conversations with her.

They both felt she was being too particular. 'It's this weekend or
we're not looking any more,' Dad finally said in frustration.

We don't want to hear anything more about puppy size either,' Mom added.

Sure enough, they were the first ones in the shelter on Saturday
morning. By now Danielle knew her way around, so she ran right for the
section that housed the smaller dogs.

Tired of the routine, mom sat in the small waiting room at the end of
the first row of cages. There was an observation window so you could
see the animals during times when visitors weren't permitted.

Danielle walked slowly from cage to cage, kneeling periodically to
take a closer look. One by one, the dogs were brought out and she held
each one.

One by one she said, 'Sorry, you're not the one.'

It was the last cage on this last day in search of the perfect pup.

The volunteer opened the cage door and the child carefully picked up
the dog and held it closely. This time she took a little longer.

'Mom, that's it! I found the right puppy! He's the one! I know it!'
she screamed with joy. 'It's the puppy size!'

When I asked you one day what love is, you told me love depends on the
sighs of your heart. The more you love, the bigger the sigh!'

The two women looked at each other for a moment. Mom didn't know
whether to laugh or cry. As she stooped down to hug the child, she did
a little of both.

'Mom, every time you hold me, I sigh. When you and Daddy come home
from work and hug each other, you both sigh. I knew I would find the
right puppy if it sighed when I held it in my arms,' she said.

Then holding the puppy up close to her face she said, 'Mom, he loves
me. I heard the sighs of his heart!'

Close your eyes for a moment and think about the love that makes you
sigh. I not only find it in the arms of my loved ones, but in the
caress of a sunset, the kiss of the moonlight and the gentle brush of
cool air on a hot day.

They are the sighs of God! Take the time to stop and listen; you will
be surprised at what you hear. 'Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.'

May each of you feel and hear the sighs of God...

Anything Non-Dog Related / Udate on Hubby NDL
« on: October 24, 2007, 12:05:42 pm »
Thanks everyone for keeping him in your prayers this is the latest update,, I am at least catching up on sleep and he is doing great...

Well he is doing better than today than he was before the surgery

His back doesn't hurt anymore and only his armpits are sore.

He did have problems trying to pee last nite,,but that has resolved itself, and his pee is no longer blue..so he his kidneys are working and flushing out the drugs in his system.

They gave him morphine prescription but he only took one last nite and hasn't needed any today.

What they did was inject his lump with the tracer dye and it only lite up two lymph nodes one had two small lumps the other one and that is why they went under his armpit to remove them.

The incision on his back seems to be very large top to bottom,,but that isn't bothering him.

We will go in in a week for a follow visit with the surgeon..His Cancer Dr with be next month.

This might be it, or not we will find out once all the lab work comes back.

I woke up this morning with him not in bed and went flying out of bed to find him in the living room on the couch having his coffee and feeling good.

So things look good for now.
Will keep you updated as things happen.

Anything Non-Dog Related / Request for Prayers NDL
« on: October 19, 2007, 03:20:33 pm »
Hi everyone,,I have a request for all of you,My hubby of 32 years was very recently diagnosied with Cancer.

He is having surgery on Tuesday..After weeks of many tests and more still to come...

The Drs seem to be more and more confounded that he has no symptoms other than the lump on his upper back.

They are not even comfortable with the resutls they got back from the biopsy..And plan future test on that as soon as they remove it.

Lymphoma skin cancer it seems is suppose to start in the lymphnodes and go to the skin, this seems to be the other way around which can happen but it is rare..So far they have not found it anywhere else.
This is a good thing by the way if it is only where this lump is so we are feeling very postitive and are hoping for the best..

They can write all the presentations and papers they want on this one....the word rare keeps popping up...

He has no other symptoms, and no other signs as of yet that it is anywhere else,,

So prayers are requested and being that they are the most powerful aide in circumstances I feel very..blessed to have so many caring friends...

Games & Jokes / Good use for newspaper, very effective training tool
« on: October 12, 2007, 06:05:22 pm »
I found some surprising good training advise in this......

This comes from the American Dog Trainers Assoc and I think it should be part of every contract when we sell a puppy.  Plus it made me smile !

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool  when Used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if Your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a Housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed Object (or mess),  then take the rolled-up newspaper... And hit Yourself over the  head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT  TO WATCH MY DOG!"

I don't recommend the video for anyone with a squeamish heart.

I just don't get this,I know there was another post about this happening not long ago,if I recall though people were starving. This is not the case here.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Big Brag on my part
« on: September 10, 2007, 01:21:39 am »
Hi everyone
This past weekend I did my 1st public speaking event,Magic and I have been doing bite prevention presentations in classrooms and community groups now for 6 years. But this was the 1st time on a stage. It was at an annual event here in Tucson called *Save a Life Saturday*,and 1st responders of all kinds show up and give out info and tools for keeping safe.

I have to admit that I prefer classrooms and being totally interactive with the kids.

The stage presented quite a barrier, and I should have been in more of a speech zone than trying to do my usual presentation.

But we did have fun and saw lots of friends and made new ones.

I just wanted to do my own personal brag and let ya all see the pictures a friend took for me.

I did learn one thing about Magic,no matter how focused I am on him when out working I had no idea how focused he was on me.He made me proud.
