Holiday Things / Re: Christmas card photo shoot pics
« on: November 29, 2006, 09:13:23 pm »
Thanks for all the nice comments. It was fun (and challenging :-\) to get them all together. I just "inherited" the cat a few months ago so he's not use to my photo shoots :D The dogs are use to me snapping pictures all the time so they usually cooperate. This was our first photo christmas card so I think I'll do it next year too :)

LOL. :D I saw this thread and had to comment...I need some of that fertile water in OHIO! My husband and I have been trying for over a year :( We started fertility treatments in july so maybe twins are in my future too! That would be so neat (I say that now w/ no children ;D but in my view two better than zero)

Hey Anakalia
Your comment was funny! :D LOL. The cat is big I think...(i havent had a cat since I was little so I dont know whats average?) Mr. Wilson is 16 lbs. He is long haired so maybe that makes him bigger??? :D He does eat like a hog though :)

Saint Bernard General Discussions / Re: red eyes

My saint Gracie always has red/pink eyes... especially when she is tired- they get more red than usual.

Good idea. thanks. She has made no attempt to jump over it so it really is just her knocking it over- i will try the inside door frame next time. Yeah- the guest faces were priceless. I just about peed my pants :D It did look exactly like this smiley  :o :o :o LOL! I love having a big dog- they are so entertaining.

Thanks for your input everyone. I bought a $35 one from Petco and it did fairly well for the party. My Saint knocked it down 2 times. But the laughing and screams from all the woman who have never seen a dog that big was worth it when she bolted down the cellar steps to see everyone! ;D ;D. Whoops....  :D

LOL :D Thanks. Sounds like they hold up good. I have no idea if Saint Gracie would be able to jump over it. She tries to jump the fence in the back yard so who knows ??? Guess all I can do is try and see :) Thanks again.

Thank you! This helps out a ton! One more question.. when you say "bounce" do you mean actually jumping on top of it.. trying to get over it? This is what I know she will try to do at first (as well as my 50lb mix. Thank you for replying. :)

Hello BPOers.
I am hosting a party at my home this Sat. And since it is pretty much winter already in OHIO. I cant leave Will and Grace outside. I wanted to keep them in one bedrooom because I'm not sure everyone would mind the slobber and begging for food??? Anyone have any suggestions on a good dog/baby gate that will be strong enough to hold if my Saint jumps on it? (she's only 105 lbs) Thanks so much. Im stressing out about it....  ???

Great Dane Pictures / Re: Crackin' up
« on: October 18, 2006, 02:13:32 am »
I saw this topic and loved it! I immediately thought of this picture of my mix - Willy. He looks like he is rolling on ground crackin' up! It is by far my favorite picture of him.

:D My Saint Gracie does the exact same thing. When someone calls her or she goes over to someone she will give them her butt to pet instead of her head. She will also back into me if I am standing there or her favorite is to go in between my legs (she's a small Saint 105lb so she can fit still) so I can pet her butt I guess ??? :). I also notice that my Mom's Great Dane tend to lean on me when you I'm standing there. Bubba and Lola are not odd at all- b/c Gracie does all those things you mentioned. Even "one leg" sitting on couch.  :) Even though I dont let her on furniture- it is quite funny to see her sitting there like it is a normal everyday thing...

Well, thanks everyone for the advice- it was much needed and calmed my nerves a bit. and the introduction went ALOT better than I planned. What I think helped was before we picked Wilson up (cat) I bought him bed, litter box, toys, food etc... and let Will and Grace (dogs) smell it until we picked Wilson up. I think it helped them prepare for the cat b/c they knew something was up. Not one bark from either one of them when they saw Wilson. I was so happy! Their was a hiss/squat or two but if I am petting Wilson or talking to him he just follows me around house and ignores Will and Grace. Will and Grace are a little confused at the cats movements and jumps but that will take time. The cat has the basement all to  itself w/ a couch, t.v., kitty bed... the works. it works out b/c we have a chain lock so the door stays cracked and dogs cant get down there (they try to sqeeze though :D) I think they will be best friends once Wilson trusts that Will and Grace wont hurt him- like the previous dog he knew at my sister's who wanted to eat him alive. At one point Will my mix was kissing/licking Mr. Wilson on the ears- it was so cute! My Saint is pretty much scared still but she'll come around  :) Thanks again for the advice and hopefully I will post pics of Wilson, Will and Grace soon. My Aunt who passed would be so happy that Wilson is happy now and in good care. It is strange b/c the cat reminds me of her so much. It is a bitter sweet situation... Well have a good day everyone, just thought I'd give you an update  :) :)
