Bull Terrier Discussions & Pictures / Re: Our soon to be PUPPY

Yay!! I know how excited you must be...the countdown is really heating up for me. 18 days until Boston comes home to me! Puppies are too adorable!

My puppy (coming home Nov 19!) is a "pet" puppy from a breeder. I don't know if show dogs must be intact (not spayed/neutered), but it sounds to me like I'm paying a lower price for a "pet" puppy because I'm promising to have him neutered. Most prices I've seen for purebreds range between $800 and $1200. I'm sure it depends a lot on what breed you're looking for too.

Slingers off the ceiling...haha! I love the cute and funny phrases we have for what our dogs do! I've never heard that. And I thought "counter-surfing" was funny, that's a riot!

I'm Stacy, mother-to-be of a Doberman puppy, Boston. He was born Sept 17, and I finally get to bring him home on Nov 19. I'm so excited!

Wow, Goliath is really getting big!! Still so cute though. My boyfriend, Dave, didn't know that Danes come in that color. Dave just loves how that pup looks!! So handsome!

My brothers lab used to spill his water all the time. He bought a food storage bin that has the bowls attached. Its a big snap top doggie bone, and you just set the bowls on top and turn them to lock into place. The dog would have to flip the whole tub to spill the water!! Not sure how air-tight the bin is for food, but you can store toys and other goodies in there too. I hate stepping in water when I'm walking around the house in my socks!!

People acting that way make me wanna put on my old prom dress and play football in it! Just to rub it in their faces that you can (and WILL) dress and act however you want. You don't need anyone else's approval. Work it like a supermodel! ;)

Boston is excited to have made the collage! He is considering pursuing a career in male modeling, ala Zoolander!

They all look so great! I wish I had my pup in time to play dress up for Halloween... I'll have to get him in on the Christmas photos though!

Anything Non-Dog Related / Re: My parents

No, I would say you don't owe it to your parents. Parents don't have children because they want someone to take care of them later. But I would say they if you can help, do so in a way that doesn't cause hardship on your own family.

Post some pics of your pup, if you have them!! :)

Doberman Pictures / Re: New Pictures of Boston

I had initially contacted a breeder several hours away, and the woman told me she had bred with a female in my home town! What are the chances, right?? Well, I get to see Boston usually twice a week, so he's getting to know me already!

It's been so much fun to play with the little guys and have some say in how Boston grows up over there. I've actually been passing on a lot of the info I've learned here to the breeder. It's been quite an experience!

4 weeks and 3 days old... They are getting big and naughty!! Boston was the first puppy to become a master at escaping the pool. He thinks he's a tough boy now too. And of course I had to include a picture of the rest of the litter w/mom (big enough to eat while she's standing, poor girl!)

And if anyone is interested, there are still 3 black males available, healthy and handsome!

Hi,
A family member has a 3 month old Great Dane/Lab mix that needs to be re-homed. ... I'm thinking that we're not ready for a puppy... but she's so cute!

Not meaning to burst your bubble here, but my initial thought was...."we're not ready for a puppy"...then you shouldn't have one. Puppies are always cute, so don't let that be the biggest part of this lifelong decision. See if you can find a short-term foster, until you are ready. Maybe if you have another month to consider housing options, get supplies, puppy-proof the home, etc, then you may be more ready. And when you're ready, you're ready. And you will know it. Don't be too hasty though, because pups that young certainly are a lot to handle.

Another side note...DO NOT send her to someone you do not know and trust. Make it clear that you will want her back within a month or so. And be sure to keep close contact and spend a lot of time visiting the pup until the time comes for you to take her home. This will allow for a smoother transition, as she will get to know you, and you can get to know her as well.

Doberman Discussions / Boston's got attitude...

He is arriving in his bouncy, goofy puppy stage. He's asleep in the new picture above, but of course that was after his jumping and pouncing.

He was the most laid-back in the litter, but he's starting to get active and vocal and play more, which is exciting. I can tell I'm gonna have my hands full though, he's the little instigator!! Haha!
