We're getting a Doberman, so not a giant breed. Do you think Evo may have too much protein for him too? We will probably start him on Innova Large Breed Puppy, but when he is ready for adult food, I was thinking of putting him on Evo. Maybe not, though...I guess we'll have to see how he does on it. Thanks for the review!

NILIF...nothin g in life is free. He wants to eat/play/etc, he has to do something for you first (perform a trick, sit nicely).

Way to go, Goliath! Sounds like that boy is learning quick! :D

Food Discussion & Information / Opinions on Innova, please

I've still got about a month before we bring Boston home, but I just want to be prepared.

The breeder is starting him on Nutro Natural Choice, but I've been hoping to find him food with less grains and more meat/fruit/veggies. Innova looks excellent, based on ingredients, but I read on epinions.com that it is too rich for some dogs. Any thoughts??

Yup, we finally named the little guy...Boston's Black Monster. Here are some pictures him and his littermates.

1. Boston's cute little face
2. Blurry, but look at those feet!
3. His whiny brother, finally asleep
4. Chewing on dad's fingers
5. Big yawn!

Hahaha!! I'm sorry to laugh, but that last story's pretty funny (your delivery is comedic genius!). My old dog (years ago) was a laundry luncher as well. No fun!!

Behavior, Housebreaking, Obedience / Bringing Pup Into a Cat Home...HELP!
« on: October 05, 2006, 08:42:54 am »
Okay, I live w/my parents (just outta college). Dave has his own home. The puppy will live in Dave's house, starting mid-November. Eventually, my cat and I will live with Dave. So...

Every time I go to Dave's, the cat comes with me (several days at a time). This way, she will be used to his place and comfy in it. Also, the house will smell like her. I'm hoping that this lets the new puppy know that another animal lives here, and has lived here first (maybe establishing a little seniority for my kitty). I'm just hoping to get some tips to help both animals cope with arriving at a new home and getting along together.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I just want to make this as smooth a transition as possible for the puppy and Madison (for Dave and I, too!)

Yikes!! That sounds like quite the "home remedy". Hopefully your regular vet has a better idea...

Hang in there, Phoebe. Mom's gonna take good care of you!

Anything Non-Dog Related / Re: Going to Florida
« on: October 02, 2006, 08:26:43 am »
Wow!!! I'll only be there for 7 days, and it looks like my schedule's getting full already! Thanks for all the info. I'll be sure to post pictures when we get back. There's actually a shuttle launch on the 14th, so I think we might try to get to the space center to witness that. And oh, that cajun seafood dish sounds yum!!  ;D

Anything Non-Dog Related / Going to Florida
« on: October 02, 2006, 06:05:31 am »
Dave and I will be down in Florida (Sarasota/Bradenton area)in November. Also going to Orlando for a day or two. Just wondering if anyone knew of any sights, events, attractions, etc that we just shouldn't miss! All I can think of right now is sailing in the Gulf and going to Universal or something. Maybe some tidbits that most tourists don't know about would be nice...  ;D
