Pit Bull Discussions & Pictures / Re: This is horrible and sad.

How horrible!!! Plus I can't believe that they just left the bloody dog there for the owner to deal with. That's really compassionate. >:(

Saint Bernard Pictures / Hi everyone!!! Been MIA but I'm back!!!
« on: December 31, 2006, 04:53:17 pm »
I hope everyone's holidays went well. I haven't been able to get to the computer that much with all three of the kids home. I have to fight for time with them. It's been at least a month since I posted it feels like. Simon, Heidi, and Nicholas are doing great. They all had a great Christmas. Especially when they found my husband's stocking with his beef jerky in it. haha. We're still tryng to straighten out Simon's stomach from that one. We woke up to no less than 10 giant sized land mines (in my living room no less). Poor Scott...he walked out into he** that morning. LOL. But everyone is doing good. Nicholas is growing by leaps and bounds and Heidi has finally calmed down and has become the sweetest one of all of them. I'll be on more this week I'm sure, with the kids going back to school. Talk to you guys later!!! Here are some pics from my MIA time.

I took them out tonight off the leash for the first time today. They've been pottying on the leash today. They ran straight into my neighbor's yard across the road. And my decoy kitty was nowhere to be found. Thank goodness my kids were home and could help me collect them. I don't know what is with them...Hopeful ly whatever it is, ends soon.  ;D

That was so great. I live in a neighborhood where there are many irresponsible pit bull owners who let their dogs roam and encourage them to be aggressive. It's a shame because they are so loving. Our good friends have a pair and they are so gentle around the kids. That video is a great example of how good owners can produce good dogs no matter what breed.

For the last three days they have escaped from my yard and I've had to chase them down the street. They are usually very well behaved and go in when I say "inside". Well, they apparantly think I need exercise or something because now when I say it, they head for the street and keep sniffing the trees, the ditch and everything else they can.

Thank goodness I live on a dirt road that hardly anyone comes down. Although my neighbors have been getting an earful of me at 6:30 in the morning yelling "Simon and Heidi!!! Get your butts back here!". The only thing that gets them back in the yard is to find my kitty, Little Miss, put her on the porch steps and hollar "Where's the kitty?" And poor Little Miss just gives me the nasty "Thanks mom" look as she's used for bait.

The only thing I can think of for their behavior is that my husband is out of town. He works out of town every weekend but he's been gone longer than usual. So, I just had to post a little rant while my "little Saints" are sleeping peacefully under my feet. Hopefully tomorrow they will be back to their lazy selves.  ;)

So here are some that I thought looked good as B&W. They are after the dogs had a hard play session.

OMG...I wish I had the room!!! I don't think Scott would go for two more Saints along with our three!!! I don't think my house could handle it either! I hope someone can take them.

Behavior, Housebreaking, Obedience / Re: THERESAANNMURPHY and Max
« on: November 26, 2006, 07:29:53 pm »
Welcome! Max is so beautiful!! I love his markings! Sorry to hear that he is having trouble potty training. Have you had him checked for a urinary tract infection? If he has one, it can make it impossible for him to "hold it".

I know how it can be. My Heidi was horrible to house train. She still has occasional accidents if I don't get up in time in the morning.

Good luck with Max and let us know how it goes. And post more pics....we love pics!

Poor Sasha!! I hope she gets all the help she needs and gets better ASAP! Send her some love from Florida!!

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Re: Tell me about dog parks!
« on: November 22, 2006, 04:54:10 am »
We have a mix of both privately owned and public dog parks. I prefer the private one near our house. It has a large fenced in area with a sand/dirt pit, a shallow pond with a fountain, and another fenced in area with agility training equipment. They have a wash-down area with old towels available. There are poop stations all over the park, along with faucets for watering. They also offer doggie day care and an overnight kennel. You can either pay per month or per year. The rules are:

No uncut males over the age of 7 months
No females in heat
All shots must be up to date with a verifiable source (they took my receipts from the vet)
No aggressive dogs allowed (they will be asked to leave)
No food or drink is allowed inside the park
No children under the age of 8

It is really worth the money each month. I don't know what they had to go through to get set up but we have actually thought about opening one also (briefly). My husband's only concern was how much insurance would be. Hope this helps.
