Great Pyrenees Discussions / I will be back BPOers!
« on: May 11, 2008, 07:56:36 pm »
Soooo, I am going to visit my family in Russia for three weeks and won't be able to check in at all :( I hope everybody's families will stay healthy and happy while I am gone :) I will miss you all :-*
Now, my "goodbye" question...Sin ce I started packing two days ago, Lily has not touched her food AT ALL :'( :'( :'( She usually doesn't eat much while we are gone and we have never left her for sooooooo long :( She will be staying with our friends who don't have dogs but will be taking her to play with their parents dog on weekends. I am sure they will take great care of her but I am obviously worrying A LOT :( Do you think she is feeling my energy and feeds off of it and not eating? I can't leave knowing that she hasn't had a meal in three days :'( :'( :'(

Great Pyrenees Discussions / Need advice please!
« on: March 26, 2008, 02:56:02 pm »
Since I brought Lily home at 8 weeks she was hard to wake up. She slept through the night and even in the morning I had to drag her out of bed. When I was crating her I had to drag her out of crate. When we were watching TV in the evening and had to go to bed we had to drag her to bed...After a while I couldn't drag her any more so I stared using a piece of cheese or any treat to navigate her to and out of bed.
Lately, has been so lazy that sometimes even cheese wont do it :P
A couple of weeks ago she was sleeping on the deck and I had to wake her up to go to bed...I can't leave her outside all night as she would bark her head off ::) When I showed her a treat she just looked at me and would not move! So I started giving her a lift to get up and she GROWLED at me!!! I was shocked! Whatever...I forgot about that incident hoping it wont happen again. Last night she did it again!
I don't know how to react to it ??? Should I
1. Put leash and collar and just get her up like that?
2. Should I give her a chocker correction along with sturdy "Stop it!"?
3. ?????
I I am really confused by this behavior!!! Help!!!

Great Dane Pictures / The last day of Buster :(
« on: March 20, 2008, 10:08:56 pm »
Tomorrow my sweet pup is going to his new home :'( :'( :'(
He has been the most wonderful pup I have EVER had around...not a single accident, no crying, eating anything offered and sleeping through the night on my chest  :)
Lily was pretty good at teaching him good manners and tolerating him but she seems to be ready to become the only dog again. Buster took HER bully stick away about 15 times and Lily let it go and then on the last time she made a hole in his muzzle...well deserved. He didn't try his trick after that :-\
Here are the highlights of the day   :)

Medical Conditions & Diseases / Allergies questions *Updated w/video"
« on: March 02, 2008, 02:52:34 pm »
I will need help from anyone who’s dog/dogs have/had allergies  :)

After I switched Lily from raw to a kibble she got a couple of little bumps with red area around it in between her two toes on each front paw. She didn't lick it and it didn't seem to bother her at all. She was on grain-free Nature's Variety (chicken for 4-5 months, then rabbit and then duck).

She had problems putting on weight due to Lyme’s and super pickiness. I decided to put her on kibble with oats and rice. She has been eating it for about a month and now she is licking one of her paws. It has gotten red and somewhat moist.

I called my vet and they recommended seeing a dermatologist.
Since it is just started and she has no other symptoms (her coat and skin are great) I was wondering:

1. Do you have to see a dermatologist or can you send a blood sample to the lab to test food allergies?
2. How much does the test cost in your area?
3. What are the most allergy causing foods?
4. Could it be something else? (I don't think it's a hot spot as I had dogs with it and I know how it looks)

Any ideas and suggestions are super appreciated  :)
I will post a picture later on

Great Pyrenees Pictures / Lily went carting
« on: February 24, 2008, 04:23:01 am »
and it seems like she really enjoyed it ;D

Some dogs start pulling from the first time they get introduced to a cart and some dogs (I am NOT pointing fingers  ;)) don't and it takes a long time to train them to get used to the noisy objects behind and being stuck between shafts.
Lily and I have been working on it since September and today was the first day she did it  :) She is a very difficult dog but sooooo sweet  ;) ::)

Do you see her smile?
