Thanks Mommabear! I just try to get the correct information out there, so we don't have so many end up in the rescues! They are very unique dogs, and because of this may not be suited for every one.

Yes some are cropped, some are left natural. There are a lot of dogs from the UK on those sites too. The Neapolitan Mastiff world is very small. In the UK it is against the law to crop. In the USA it is personal choice. It is done just for the look. Most show dog people do crop, the Neapolitan was only recently admitted to the AKC,in 2004. And most of the judges are use to cropped look. But it is only preference no disqualificati on in the ring for ears, now the tail to be too short is another story. If the tail is to short it is a disqualificati on in the ring.

then I do hope to have learned enough to do the right thing. I have not yet got her papers back yet But she is FIC and ACA So I think she has a pretty good back ground.
Well ACA and FIC are huge puppy mill papers! This girl is a beautiful pet but no where near breeding quality. AKC is the only legitimate registry in the USA.Here is a link that explains more on false registries.

You said you were not a puppy miller. Only puppy miller's and Back yard breeders breed with the registry's your dog is registered under. Please do not consider breeding her. I do not see where she could better the breed.

Thank you for the comments on Zorba! I really just wanted people to see what they are really supposed to look like. And give the ones seeking answers to many questions a more informative place to get great breed related answers from experts in the breed.

Make sure you do your homework on this breed, or you will end up with a dog that does not look anything like Fang on Harry Potter which was bred by Steve of Rayvonley kennels in the UK. There are cheaper breeders out there and they promise wrinkles, but the dogs grow up with no bone, mass or wrinkles that is characteristic of the breed. Here is some pictures of some of my babies.

Hi, I have been reading through all the topics. I want to give everyone the chance to learn more about this beautiful breed. There is a couple of message boards that you can learn anything you want to know with this breed. Here are the links.

I am a breeder of AKC registered Neapolitan Mastiffs and I also have a forum on health issues. Here is the link.

Here are a couple good examples of the breed...
This is AKC CH FDA Zorba owned by myself

Here is what a good quality puppy should look like...

All the above dogs are owned by me. Sometimes going with a cheaper breeder you end up with dogs that do not look anything like a Neapolitan Mastiff should. I hope you all enjoy the Mastino Message boards that I have linked you to.
