« on: January 05, 2009, 12:13:59 pm »
I was really hoping you were going to see this. When she first posted this on the bird board you are the one I thought of instantly to offer her advice. I told her to PM me on the bird board with any responses or questions she wanted me to post.

Treatment & Preventative Meds / Acl surgery
« on: January 05, 2009, 07:07:57 am »
This is for my friend who can't register right now, I thought if I posted this for her at least she could read the responses.

My dog Rizzo just had surgery on Friday. She had a torn acl. The ligament was 75% torn. My husband and I did all the research before she went in for surgery. We wound up going with the mono filament route. That is actually fishing line to fix the ligament. Just a stronger grade of it. I was wondering if any one had this type of surgery on any of there dogs. I know the healing time is 8-12 weeks. Very little activity. I was wondering if any one else that has had this done with your dog, if you can give me any other tips for the healing process. It's going to be a pretty long recovery for her and me  So if anyone can throw any extra info on this, it would be very much appreciated.

Anything Non-Dog Related / Re: Any bird experts here?

The only thing I would add is to watch her for signs of egg binding. There could well be at least one more egg,Tiels commonly lay 3. If you can't get to her to eat any pellets, mineral block or any real calcium rich foods PM me your addy and I will send you some calcium powder that can be sprinkled on her seed mix. You can tell by the egg shell if she is low on calcium, it will be a very soft shell. And they can also develop a head twitch if they are low on calcium.

I always call Tub(Saint) my puppy and this weekend my Mom was in town and asked how long he would be a puppy for. I told her I suppose as long as I call him one ;) So now I'm wondering if there is a certain age where they go from being a puppy to a dog?

Treatment & Preventative Meds / Glucosamine & Chondroiton Dosage
« on: August 27, 2008, 10:37:06 am »
I was wondering if anyone knew the dosage G&C for a 7 lb dog? I was talking to my Aunt last night and convinced her to try it for both herself and her dog,but didn't know what dosage to tell her for her dog. Thanks in advance.

Sorry for not checking in more, my life has been so busy lately.Butt and Tub are doing great. Tub turned 1 yr 10 mths yesterday,it seems like he was just a wee puppy the other day:) I'm taking a couple days off next week so maybe I can come hang out and get caught up with everyone.

Butt and Tub are always waiting right in front of the door for me to come home.Once I'm in the door they do their best to try and knock me down. They won't leave my side until I take of my shoes, because that means I'm staying home now.
