We all know that dogs are very intune to their surroundings and what is going on around them, they sense when something is not right, or when something is about to happen, this is a very good reminder to always pay attention to your pooch when he is trying to tell you something.
last week at about 9:00 at night we were hit by a storm, which isnt a big supprise for us this time of year, as we live in Nebraska. but as the storm passed Duramax became more and more upset. he started to cry! and whine, he was terribly worried about something.for about 15 minutes he carried on. and then it was over. he stopped, and was back to normal.....why was he crying???
There was a tornado about 1/2 mile from our house. it tore through about 10 farms and did this to one of our friend's house. Duramax knew that danger was close, he could sense it, and was terrified. this pic is of their house. . . always pay attention when your dog is telling you something.....

these pictures are so good to see, i live in a small  town -about 6,000 and we are the only family with a dane. we have very small children (one is 2 months the other is 2 years)and we've recieved some disapproving comments. i know they dont know what they are talking about, but it's still nice to see other families with big paws and little hands :)

i thank you for the advice. im thinking we will wait for another dog, as for the neutering i agree. but he's so big now wouldnt it be a painfull surgery? as to spaying a female if we got her it would be done because she was still a pup, i regret not having duramax neutered while he was little, we havent had any troubles yet, but he's not very old either. as to the "im going to protect my bone" attitude he gets, ive been making sure that he knows that he is recieving the bone and that it is given to him and that he has to earn it. but im not sure what else i should be doing, ive heard to take the problem head on, and also to just avoid all " growling situations" which i know that isnt a good idea cuz then he knows the growl worked.he's only done it 3 times his whole life. and when he has done it, he was very uncumfortable with the situation. it was almost like he knew he was being bad but he didnt know what else to do.
