I really hope this works out.  Being familiar with Huskies should help :-)

Food Discussion & Information / Re: tablescraps: good or bad?
« on: May 10, 2007, 10:36:15 pm »
Hi,  As a rule, I don't feed my dogs table scraps either (usually LOL).  Once in a while, they will get a bite of steak or the bones from ribs when were done, but these are in their food bowls outside.  I've found that by doing this, they've never learned to beg at the table or when we're eating in front of the TV.  I do have 2 treat tubs though, one in the kitchen and one in the family room, and will give them treats a couple times a day.  Oh, and of course if Woody gets into my garden, all my zucchinis and cucumbers get eaten.  He's learned to leave the jalapenos alone LOL

Awe~!  Molly is gorgeous~!  I'd love to see pic's of your wolf/husky/shep~!  I had one for 13 years (Jasper) and he was a wonderful boy whom I still miss 11 years later :-)

Lyn, it's funny the first time you realize your big baby is more than just that.  It sure seems to be different if they are freaked out for themselves vs. freaked out that something might happen to one of their people.

Maple is terrified of large birds (got scared by a pelican when she was a baby), but, I have no doubt that if that bird came after me, or my boys, she would jump right in and protect what's hers.

Now, you can feel good that Bubba will always protect your son  :)

Sounds like Bubba just didn't realize it was his Daddy, and went into protector mode.  He probably sees your son get off the bus every day, and come straight into the house, and when a vehicle pulled up and your son stopped, he interpreted the "change" in routine as a threat.  Woody and Maple do this all the time.  They gotta protect their family :-)

Great Pic's~!  Gee, I realized as I was looking at the last one, your living room looks almost like mine, right down to the color of the flooring, and the red drum set!  Luckily, neither of my dogs is bothered by the drums (or for that matter the electric guitar my other son plays).  Only person who has issues with it is hubby LOL  But, if you can't have a live band in your living room, what do you use it for?  LOL LOL  I especially love your pictures of Grey, he is a gorgeous Dane :-)

Beautiful!  It looks like they're enjoying the day.  It's warm here again, I'd be in that pool :-)

So cute :-)  I miss those days.  Such sweet innocence.

Siberian Husky Discussions / Re: Remember my friend's Husky?

I hope they are able to place the husky in a home where there is an owner who will have the time/determination to retrain him.  He can be a wonderful pet in the appropriate home.  Yes, all hospitals have to report dog bites to animal control.  I have always dreaded the possibility that one of my dogs could bite someone, and worked hard to make sure they don't.  Maple is somewhat Food agressive, but, I work with her at every meal to ensure she knows who is boss and that I and everyone in my family can touch/take her food bowl.  She has learned to sit and wait patiently when we do.  Of course, we put Woody's bowl far away from hers, or she won't let him eat.  On the funny side though, she was so focused on stopping my friends lab, Jag, from stealing "her" biscuit one day, that Woody walked up behind her, and took it and ate it while she wasn't watching.

I hope your friends son will be OK, and not too traumatized by this incident.  It can really change how he views dogs.  I've been attacked/bitten twice.  Once by a GSD who was going after the cat I was holding, and once unprovoked by a Chihuahua.  Guess which type of dog I'm still afraid of?  LOL  Its not the GSD.

Komondor Discussions & Pictures / Re: Any Komondor Owners Here Yet?

Beautiful Kom's everybody! :)  I don't have one, my hubby would never put up with it (he doesn't particularly like dogs, and then, only shor haired)  Anyway, when I was growing up, my neighbor had 2 Kom's (out of about 12 in California at the time), and I helped her care for them and assisted when she showed them.  They are abosolutely wonderful dogs, very strong personalities, and very protective of their family.
