Mace came home this weekend. We are all doing fine and adjusting well. The breeder was a little emotional to say good -bye so we will have to send pictures often.

Mace's breeders just wrote and offered their last puppy to us. I really wish we could get him but as it is we will have 2 puppies. If we had our own home and knew we wouldn't be moving ever again, Oh yeah we would take him! It was hard enough to say no to the pup they are offering us when I went to pick out Mace.

They say Mace is doing well and shows promise for Schutzdienst. They sent me a picture too.

It has been snowing since yesterday. Not snowing hard enough to accumulate a lot but enough. KC is such an outdoor dog for living inside. She just loves it!

Well our 3 hour tour ended up being 4 hours. So much for guessing how long it would take to drive up north. lol
Mace is adorable! I got to choose from two of the males. I choose the darker one with a slightly longer snout. He gave me kisses too.  ;D There were 8 in the litter and he was lucky number 7! lol
The dad is the dark AltDeutsch and the mom the lighter.

I want another puppy so that DH and I can do something together and KC won't be so alone. I have been looking for a week at other pups. We would have gotten KC's sister but we were a day late on calling them.
They are just the same as KC's breeding except they are long hair and KC is short.
Aren't they adorable?!?!
DH is coming home early and will call them. It would be a 3.5 hour drive to pick one. My German is horrible so that is why I have to wait.

DH was outside teaching KC a few commands. I was out taking pictures of the kids so I took a few of KC too. The green things is DH's homemade C4 stick. She loves to play with the thing so he is hoping the scent is really sinking in.
And a picture of KC and Titan sleeping together. lol

We took KC out to the dog club for shots and to meet and greet the other dogs out there.

There were 4 beautiful ridgebacks at the club. I think DH may want one of those too now! He was talking about how he thought they would be good bomb dogs.  ::) Yes I have a crazy hubby. He already has some C4 paper for KC. That is how crazy he is!

My son loved petting them and getting kisses.

There was also a puppy that looked like a St. Bernard mix.

I wrote to a company who is willing to ship to APO... with USPS it is $30 per bag of food. That is over half of the cost of the dog food!!! I can't afford 80 for a single bag of dog food.

I am very frustrated.... and depressed that I can't get anything with quality for my dog unless I go broke.

And no I can't buy it from the economy either as it would be even more for that same bag of dog food. a big bag of large breed kibble from Royal Canin is 60 euros. Add in the exchange rate and that brings it to a few cents shy of 100 USD. It is like this for all dogs food. The price is most often twice as much as the states.

German Shepherd Discussions / OMG she drives me nuts!

Out of all the pups I have ever had, in various breeds, KC is the only one to drive me nuts!
She cries for hours when we put her in the crate. Always the pups would cry for a bit, 20 minutes max and learn that it isn't going to get them anywhere. I even put my Yorkies crate next to KC's to help her. Well he gets annoyed and eventually starts to growl and bark at her to be quiet. He only shuts up when she does.
Last night DH ended up taking her outside to do her thing and then instead of putting her back in her crate he fell asleep with her on the kitchen floor.
I am not really sure what to do as I have never had to deal with this before.

Treatment & Preventative Meds / Looking for supplements for my OGSD

We picked up our little girl Wednesday. She is an AltDeutscher Schaeferhund, or Old German Shepherd. I wanted to know what is good out there for supplements for her. She is 8 weeks old and  I want her to have the best of course. Her parents don't have HD but as it is only partially hereditary I want to help her joints and bones as she grows.

Great Dane Pictures / Joker after surgery...

As most of you know, Joker was docked 2 weeks ago. Friday he busted open a part and that ment the stitches were going to be left in even longer! We didn't want a repeat, even with how careful we already were, So DH had a new plan. Poor Joker!

Great Dane Discussions / Joker is home from Surgery

Joker is home from surgery yesterday and all went well. He doesn't seem to miss his tail. The doc is very happy with the cut. It isn't to long or to short. The infection was just getting worse and the doc said given another week another piece of his tail would have fallen off. This was our only resort or we would have lost him. He isn't liking the two weeks of bed rest. Titan wants to play too! I will be taking him back in this evening for another shot of pain killers and to pay. All this time and she keeps telling us to pay later. I got him to drink water this morning. This afternoon I will see about food. He doesn't want to go potty either. Won't step off the porch.

Great Dane Pictures / Joker update with pics...

Ok well the update isn't so great. Joker's tail is not healing and is now infected. Monday he is going in for surgery. I don't want him to deal with this any more so instead of a partial I am asking the vet for his tail to be docked all the way. Originally she was going to do just a few bones. I really don't want him to have two surgeries if his tail still breaks open.
Other than that he is enjoying our new home and large yard! Hubby wants to shoot him for digging. lol He loves the very back where the lawn mower hasn't reached and to lay in the tall grass.
