I don't know anything about round ligament pain. I had braxton hicks very early, with my 3rd, and was on lots of Magnesium. I hope you get by this pain fast...
I think we had three because DH wanted his boy... 3rd time was the charm! lol I knew the first two times I was having a girl, I could just feel it. Sadly I will never know that feeling again. I just have to substitute with my dogs... My big fur babies!

Well I can't get him in today so he will go in tomorrow. I don't think I can really get anything better for him than Royal Canin. We made it through the first night so that is good. He did finally eat most of his food this morning.

Congrats! I was going down the road and thought Speicher would be a cool name. Pronounced SPY-sher. Instead our new furkid is named Joker... so maybe you can use it! It is a German name by the way.

He whacked the end of his tail and made it bleed and DH being the Man he is taped it up so if he whacked it again it wouldn't be bleeding everywhere. He tried white gauze but that didn't work so he used that brown medical tape.

We are Americans living abroad. ;D DH is dual citizen and we came here to be near his family for as long as the Army allows us. This is our second tour and this fall are going to be applying for our 3rd. We are going to be moving next month to a house with 6 rooms so he will have one just for Joker if he wants. If not then we can always use it for an office. There is a GSD that will be our neighbor so he will have some company besides Titan.

Great Dane Discussions / Joker came home.

Well, It was a long drive through thrilling country side villages. Joker came home with us. DH kept asking me if I was sure. Actually he only asked me once and I said it is your dog. lol He needed a bath desperately. The breeder has his dogs and Joker out in a Barn that he uses as a kennel. Also with the fact that is was a barn and it was the country it smelled and the flies! OMG they were everywhere. I love the country but I would love it even more without the flies. We had to stop and get a brush and a pooper scooper. He is a nicew well mannered pup. We have to do a lot of work with him though. He likes to jump a little. He is underweight. He also doesn't want to eat much even with being hand fed. We are trying to get into the Vet ASAP. DH even called the 24hr vet a few towns over. He looks so much better after his bath. The kids love him. Right now he is laying on his new blanket all stretched out. Oh and BOY DOES HE HAVE GAS!!! I hope to get him in asap and back up to par. DH even said he never had it so good as with us. LOL We don't even know the family he was rescued from! Joker and Titan get along great and as expected. Titan tried to be top dog but they were running through the field and playing together. Thanks you all for replying to my other messages this week. Danielle

Thanks for the info. It may be cheaper to buy that and supplement with the canned Bio meat. I remember seeing it today while I was at the pfesnapff. Right now the dogs are on Royal Canin. I was looking at The Honest Kitchen but a $73 bag would only last 1 week! Umm I have to find an alternative to that.

Ok y'all. Bombard me with info!
We are leaning towards a 2yo but are unsure.
What do y'all use for food? We live in Germany so if any of y'all are here, GREAT! If not I'll see what is comparable.
Toys? Are Bamboo toys any good? The brand not the wood.
Beds? Besides the couch where do y'all furbabies like to sleep?
Collars and harnesses? What do y'all find to be best?
Anyone ship a Dane for Europe to the states? How much was the kennel and airlines? We still have several years yet but I would like to know before I get there.
What is the average weight? I see height on all these pages but not weight.
Oh! Back to food, about how much do y'all spend a month? Also what do you think are the best treats? Rawhide, Good or bad?
Coat care? How do you keep it nice and what shampoo?

I think for now this is enough questions. Thanks! Danielle

:)Hi ya'll. We are looking at getting a 2yo or a 5mo great Dane... (I wonder how many times I am going to write this today?) Any of you have a 5mo right now? About how big is there chest and neck size for a male? I would like to go prepared. What would you suggest getting for a puppy this age? Are there any favorite toys your big pups have? I was looking at the Bamboo line of toys. Are they any good? What do you feed your puppy?
Of course we will ask what the breeder feeds them but European dog food can be a lot more expensive than the American. Anyone have their food shipped to their home? I was looking at a freeze dried holistic food for the pup. About on average how much do you spend feeding a young pup?

Hi My name is Danielle. We are looking at getting a 2yo or 5mo Great Dane/ Deutscher Doggen this weekend. I know I am a little late on getting more information about their care. But better late then never! :D We had our 10yo GSD put down right after the new year and now DH wants an even bigger dog! lol So I went on google to find a forum for big dogs/Danes and I found ya'll. You look nice and busy so I hope to find a lot of info. Oh and We live in Germany! So I will now go and write lots of questions everywhere.  ;D

Our GSD passed this January and we are looking at getting a 2yo Deutscher Doggen/Great Dane or a 5mo. I have seen many large dogs with both Harnesses and regular collars. I know some dogs have  throat problems and harnesses are much better for these. Would you also suggest a leather collar over a nylon? I have so many questions! Do Halti's work very well with these dogs? Thanks a bunch!
