OK...so I got an e-mail called "why dogs bite" the other day. It was a bunch of pics. of dogs dressed up in costumes. It had me laughing out loud. Soooo I was looking through some of my daughters stuff and I realized that her dolls horse is the same size as or little dog Dixie. Well...I'll let the picture do the talking. Lets just say this is my contribution to the "why dogs bite" LMAO:

Mixed Breed Discussion / Beau update
« on: September 23, 2007, 11:52:32 am »
Just thought I would let everyone know he is doing GREAT! He went Friday and got neutered. He is a bit on the sore side because the vet opted to remove his entire scrotum because there was so much skin that they thought it may fill with blood and cause further issues. Anyway he is fitting in with my MIL's pack, he and her Newfie pup are best buddies. He is enjoying having all that land to run on, and he isn't bothering the cats or other critters there. She said he follows her around the house and lays at her feet. :) He is also a good watchdog, which is nice since my MIL lives out in the stix. Oh and one last note...I think he has a new name...she didn't like Beau, so he is "Emmitt" now. LOL He didn't answer to Beau anyway.

I think it is CRAZY how much they charge for coats. So I decided to see what I could come up with. This is my first one, it isn't really for the cold winter months...I had a fake leather dog jacket and used it for a pattern. I had some fabric here and was able to make a "sherpa" style coat. Here is Miss Gracie modeling it for me.:

Helpful Groups & Dogs in Need / Deaf female dane in need *EDIT
« on: September 22, 2007, 11:49:43 pm »
Lacie needs a home. She is in my county. I saw her on petfinder. I would take her in a heart beat, but I just can't take in another dane. I would be willing to go spring her from this place and get her to a new home if she doesn't have to be at my house more than a day...

When i first posted this I thought she was at the pound...it is actually the HS, so she is probably in a foster home.

This weekend my MIL brought her 4 month old Newfie with her to visit. His name is Hagrid (like the hairy guy on harry potter). He had a BLAST with Morgayne and Gracie. Here are a few pics of their playtime.

I can't believe how soft his fur is, what a little fluffball.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Great news!! Beau has a new home!
« on: September 15, 2007, 05:03:53 pm »
I am happy to say, Beau has a great new home. My mother-in law was up this weekend. She has a Newfie puppy names Hagrid (so fitting). Anyway she has been learning about large breeds since getting him. She also has a Golden, and a mix breed. While she was here, we had beau out on a leash, he was playing with Hagrid. They were having a blast. We decided to leave them together for the day while we went to the farm fest in town. Well last night when we were trying to bring the pup in, he didn't want to leave Beau. He slept in the kennel all night. Plus we let Beau out off leash to see what he would do and he listened to our every command. He was such a good boy! She decided that he would fit in great with her pack. She lives on 17 acres in KY., so he will have a blast. Plus I can see him when we go there. In the past she and I have had MANY differences, but I think we are getting along much better now, we relate more since everyone thinks we are nuts for having more than 1 dog. LOL ANyway, this morning she let them both out of the pen, and they ran up to the house with her (no leashes) and when she opened the back of her SUV Beau jumped in and was ready to go. If for any reason he doesn't work out, he can come back here, but I think he will be fine. Since I hadn't gotten him neutered yet, she will be taking him in the next week or so, her vet is cheaper than I could get it done here. We have a visit planned for Thanksgiving, so we will see him then. THANK-YOU to everyone that helped this boy get his heartworm treated. This group is the best.

Great Dane Discussions / Miss Gracie is a doll
« on: September 08, 2007, 03:27:42 am »
This puppy is amazing! Hubby is Ok with keeping her. We had a talk and he is fine with it. Today we had a picnic to go to. Morgayne and Thorn are fine staying in the house when we are gone. Gracie is pretty much housebroken, but I don't trust her all day. It was supposed to rain, so I didn't want to leave her out either, so we took her. She was an angel. She knows my hand signal for come, and 2 taps on her rear for sit. She sat next  to me and didn't move. It rained the whole time at the park. We were all stuck under a picnic shelter. She laid by my feet and just chilled out. At one point 3 little kids (about 1, 4, 7 years old) were sitting with her petting her and she laid still sucking up the attention, She was very careful and gentle around the little ones. Everyone loved her. She reminds me so much of my Tisha...very sensitive to her surroundings, very smart.

Cruelty to Animals May Become Felony in Ohio

State Rep. Courtney Combs is a co-sponsor of House Bill 22 which proposes to make cruelty to animals a class five felony. Currently, this offense is classified as a second degree misdemeanor.

The FBI has released research that indicates that there is a link between violent crime against animals and violent crimes against humans.

The FOX News affiliate in Cleveland caught up with the bill's sponsors, who had this to say:
"The FBI has labeled animal abuse as a predictor of future crimes, including spousal battering, rape and murder," said HB 22 sponsor, Rep. Brian Williams D-41st District.

Co-sponsor Courtney Combs, R-54th District said, "Animal abusers must be treated as what they really are, cold hearted criminals."

The legislation is expected to hit the table this fall.

Helpful Groups & Dogs in Need / White great dane Free to good home
« on: September 04, 2007, 03:09:39 pm »
I am done fighting with the selfish immature people in my life. The pup I posted about yesterday needs a home. She is a Valentine baby. She seems to be mostly housebroken. She hears loud noises like when she was getting into the trash I yelled "NO" and she stopped. She follows the other dogs out the door and back in etc. I have the paper to send to AKC to register her, although she should not be bred/should be spayed. Anyone here interested? If not I am contacting Harlequin Haven Rescue later today.

A women e-mailed me today, she lives on 2 acres and she wants Beau!!! I am actually driving him to her tomorrow to see her place. She is taking him to her low cost spay/neuter (I offered to re-imburse her $50 fo the cost when it is done). She has no cats, and 3 kids. She asked many great questions about him!!! I also have a possible back-up home just incase. Morgayne and the dane pup are best buddies already!!! They have been westling and playing for an hour now. The pup has been cleansed of the fleas...I got some capstar? pills on the way home with her from the vet. Then I gave her a bath...then used some spray, then another bath.... I see nooo fleas on her now. Hopefully all the nasty raw spots and bites will heal fast. I have some stuff for that too. She is soooo cute.... much smaller than Morgayne. Miss Morgaynes B-day is Jan. 28th... Her b-day is Feb. 14 (valentines day. :) So they are very close in age. Thorn hasn't met her yet...that should be interesting. Her name is Gracie...not that she can hear it if ya call her... I like that name, but I may change it to Gwen (morgayne and gwenevere...Ki ng Arthur...) Anyway that is where things are for now. Thanks for your kind words and posotive thoughts.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / I need a home for BEAU ASAP!!!
« on: September 03, 2007, 06:52:01 pm »
Today I had a Dane Puppy dumped on me...she is about 7 months old...Almost completly white. She has a black spot on her nose, and a grey spot on her back. She is deaf. She had sooo many fleas her skin was moving!!!! She is the dog I have been looking for. :( She needs me. I cannot keep her unless Beau finds a home... What do I do??? I have put him on every classified I can think of...I have put up flyers... I get replies, but they say they have cats- never mind... I never thought it would take this long to find a home. I have even contacted rescues and no one has room... It would not be a big deal, if it wasn't for my parents...they hate the dogs, and we have 3 of our own...add Beau and this pup to the list and that is 5. We could totally deal with that, but they are really mad, we do have to live next to them, I don't want this tension... If you know anyone that wants a saint mix...he is FREE, and I will pay half of his neuter fee!!!

Tall dark and handsome single male seeking loving family. I enjoy long walks, good food, and belly scratches. Dislikes: Cats (taste like chicken).

I'm Beau (short for Beauregard) I spent about 2 months at the local pound. I thought I was going to a forever home, but something called a heartworm test came back positive. My adoptive parents decided they didn't want me. They even walked in and patted me on the head then went to the other room and choose a different dog!!! There was a lot of whispering in another room...somethi ng about euthanizing me...whatever that is. Anyway one of the volunteers at the pound put a new collar on me and took me home. I had to go to the vet a few times, and now I am feeling much better. I love all the other dogs here at my foster home, but my foster mom says I deserve more, and I need to find a place to call my own. I am staying outside in a large pen because I can't help but chase the cats. Also my foster brother is a bit of a bully. I need to find a home soon before the cold weather gets here. My foster mom doesn't want to have me outside when it is cold. Anyone looking for a best friend? I promise to be a good boy and give you a ton of love.  ;D

Anything Non-Dog Related / more clay...too much time on my hands???
« on: August 29, 2007, 11:29:46 pm »
OK...so I was up late, wired...I saw something on e-bay I thought was neat. I like creepy stuff...not blood and guts, just odd. Like Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, etc. Anyway I got the idea to make a babydoll out of my clay, "goth" style...
Introducing Miss Violet:

she has a clay head and arms, her legs are purple clay to look like stockings, and she has mohair on her head. Her body is soft, stuffed with pellets and stuffing. I will sew her an outfit once I find the right fabric. I am in the process of making a Jack Skellington baby doll. LOL And I also build and paint small cribs for these size dolls. Usually they are frilly and cute though. :)
