I am in Ohio. We have been thinking Killian...Kill i for short. I also like Teagan, reagan, rouri, Keagan. I am a bit upset tonight, I found she has a hernia on her belly (imbilical hernia) It isn't very big, my male dne had one as a pup and it closed by itself. I am just mad I didn't notice it before. She will bw going to the vet in the am and i will be calling the breeder as well...

She is an AKC purebred. She didn't come with a name. None of my registered dogs have. I got her from a woman that has been breeding and showing them for 35 years. Mom and dad were both there as well as grandma and one of her aunts. :) I'll post more pics soon.

MIne is more of a treat too. She gets 4-5 "chunks" of steak several times a week. I've been doing it for years, we haven't ever had any direah or any other noticible digestion issues.

I do add some raw food to her dry several times a week and have for a few years now. Usually angus steak, she has no skin issues, just a few old age issues. i don't know about the claim of a 17 year old dane..you would think they would get a lot of grief if it is bogus since they put it on their bag. Holly...what do you feed your Dane?

I have fed Nutro Lrg. breed and senior L.B. for years. (I actually did dogfood demos for them for awhile). After comparing labels I switched over to a food at Wlamart...NO it wasn't Ol roy (BLECK!) anyway they have a food called Maxium Nutrition there (almost the exact same contents as nutro max) no by-products no corn, naturally preserved etc.The dogs coats looks great and their poo looks like it should. My female Dane has had a few health issues lately and I was checking into holistic foods for her. I decided to put Tisha on a newer food ( I guess)called Canine Caviar. It was actually created by someone that had a Dane with food allergies and they got sick of trying to find a food for their dog. The say their dane lived to be 17 years old. The food smells great, looks good, it is nice and crunchy for their teeth, plus the ingredients are great. It has antioxidents, omega 3 &6, no corn, wheat or soy. and it is holistic. I am using their special needs blend which says it is for senior and overweight dogs. Has anyone else used this and if so what do you think? I also found coupons on their site. LOL

We are still kicking Irish names around...but here is a pic of our new "little" girl. She is 4 months old today. :)
We have had her 2 days and she is so well behaved as far as following me around and coming when called. She is a bit timid, but coming out of her shell. She loves hanging with our 2 Danes. She was raised in a horse stall pretty much, but made herself right at home. Within 15 min of being here she was in my recliner. LOL

Hi. I'm Jodi. Mom to 2 Great Danes, Tisha an 11 year old female, and Thorn a 7 1/2 year old male. 2 days ago we added a new furry friend to the family...name still pending. She is an Irish wolfhound, 4 months old today.
I am also "owned" by 6 macaw parrots, 2 small birds, a min-pin, a min-pin mix, 3 cats, turtles, and fish...(I think that's all of them). Plus 2 great human kids, Kellyn (10) and Brennon (5), and a very laid back patient hubby Dylan  ;D. I love big dogs and can't wait to hear stories and see pics.

Medical Conditions & Diseases / Re: Ear Infection? Yeast?
« on: May 28, 2007, 09:28:36 pm »
Apple cider vinegar is good for curing yeast infections in ears. Dilute it about 50/50 with water and clean the ears with it making sure some actually gets in the ear. I alos use this in the water for my parrots if I suspect yeast in their crops. Works very well.
