It would be helpful if, god forbid, you had a reference that didn't check out. You'd want to know if someone is not giving you a decent reference. Anyway, screw them. There's a better job in San Antonio for you! Can't you put in for a transfer with Starbucks?

P.S. Why the heck did Starbucks stop having the sugar free mocha? I'm not a coffee drinker, but I always get (got  :() a sugar-free hot chocolate, with the sugar free mocha in it. Now it's GONE! How am I supposed to get caffeine and still avoid sodas AND carbs without my sugar-free hot chocolate from Starbucks? But, I digress. This is not about me and my beverage preferences. Sorry... :P

We love asian food and asian culture, so we picked a Japanese name theme. Tani means "sweetheart" and also "bull that charges randomly" (go figure!). Kai means "forgiveness". The kitties are also Japanese named - Kenji, Mika and Nishi. Even the ball python is named Tasia. Technically not an official Japanese name, but it's the name of a "sailor moon" type character. My son thought of Tasia and really wanted to use it, so I googled until I found a link to something Japanese. As an aside, my girls also have middle names, chosen only because they popped out of my mouth, and I use them when the girls are in trouble. I'm embarrassed to share that it's Tani Louise and Kai Jennifer.  :-[  NOT Japanese!

Well, let's hope that Mia is with more responsible people now.

Iron Man sandals - Payless Shoesource. They only go up to a kid's size 4 or 4 1/2, which you can wear if you wear women's 6 or 7. Not that I tried them on. 'Cuz I didn't. I tried the Spiderman ones. 8)

Wow - this whole story is more and more nuts. Sounds like you lost a friend, but on the other hand, she may not be a friend worth having. She's not bad for not wanting Mia, but the way she's handling it is BAD. I've made mistakes - we thought it would be fun to have sugar gliders, read the books, etc. We took in a pair with a giant cage. They were cute, but LOADS of work and very, very smelly (which the book doesn't tell ya). We enjoyed them, but realized we made a mistake. We found a good home for them when we could, and that was that. NOT my proudest moment, for sure, but, I think we ended up handling it ok. So, if she read up on mastiffs, drool, etc, maybe she thought she could handle it but came to find out it's just not clicking with her. Too bad she's handling it so poorly, though. Mia suffers for it, and she didn't do anything wrong. It's a good idea to contact the breeder and rat her out, if you're not worried about salvaging the friendship. If it's a good, reputable breeder, I'm sure they'd rather have Mia back than whatever alternative this chick might come up with. You're certainly entitled to a big ol' rant, though. Oh, and yeah, Kai chewed up my son's light up Iron Man sandals last night. Ok, it's no digital camera, but I got new sandals today and life goes on. She's 7 months old, I wasn't watching her, boy left his sandals out. We may as well have given her an engraved invitation!

I'm loving hearing about that kitten-y behavior! Yay - that's a great sign!!

OMG! What a witchy thing to say!! Er, how good of friends are you guys, anyway? I can't believe that she is more concerned about getting her stupid money back than finding Mia a safe home. That is so so so sad. Poor Mia. :'(

Manchester is a great name for such a tiny kitty! But yeah, what's the first name? It would be funny to have a tiny kitten named "Steve" or "Dan" or something, wouldn't it??

I have nothing new to add - I like everybody's suggestions. Have a heart to heart with hubby and hash it out. See what he's thinking. The fostering is a great idea, because then you can help your friend and Roscoe's sister without making a lifelong commitment that you may not be ready for. Then, if you find that Mia blends well, you could reasess your position. The key is what your heart tells you, I think. Imagine for a sec that your friend called you up and said "Hey, I put Mia on Craigslist, and a really nice family met her and wants her. I'm checking their references tonight". Is your initial instinct relief, or Oh No - Roscoe's sister has to be HERE? Just mull it over a bit. Good luck. That is a tough call!

OH MY GOODNESS!! You and Sadie have really have a time of it! And finding and losing Lady so quickly - that's just horrible.. :'( :'( You were lucky to have found Lady - she showed you that you are a great pup mom, and she showed you that Sadie may be a handful, but she's a great pup. If you think about it, it seems like in her short time with you, she taught you LOADS of stuff about how great you guys are and what you both need from each other. Maybe that was her purpose for joining your family before she passed. She had one more very important thing to do in her life, and she did. When the time is right, maybe another new family member is what the doctor ordered. In the mean time, hang in there. Grieving...wel l, it just sucks. That's my professional opinion! Glad you are back...you've come to the right place! BTW, it should be mentioned that with all Sadie was going through (before Lady) major kudos to you for not giving up on her. Lots of people would have, and you didn't. And THAT is why you are a great Newf mom! Rest peacefully Lady - you'll be so missed, little girl. :'(
