Wolfhound Discussions & Pictures / Re: A boy with his dog...

That's great! I agree - kids with pups are the best pictures. I've somehow taught Tani, my aussie/boxer, that "Tani kisses" means that I hold my kids upside down and pin their arms, and she comes and licks them all over their heads and faces! Most people think it's gross, but the kids love it! They ask me to "do Tani Kisses". So cute! Koji is four months now, and is learning to be more gentle with the kids, which is awesome. He's starting to loose teeth, so he's still mouthy (my 18 month old's first sentence was "Mommy, Koji bite!) but he's getting really cute with the kids. I love it!

Never heard of it. I say, use whatever brush you usually use for the smelly big paws, and make her a sweater for Christmas out of what you pull off the brush! Mwah ha ha...

Oh, how pretty! The dark brindle doesn't show in the avatar photo. I love it! I've been following her medical issues but haven't posted yet. I sure hope she gets through all this stuff quickly. Poor girl...I recall one of your posts saying that she'd outgrow the condition once she reached maturity, right? Hang in there, Chloe!

Thank you! And yes, he's a doll - mutant or no! He's a great pup and has fit right in to our family.  ;D

Mixed Breed Discussion / One more thought on Koji's midget legs...
« on: July 21, 2007, 08:05:14 pm »
As a few of you know, I have been alarmed at the rate at which my Aussie/Berner pups legs are (not) growing relative to his body, head, tail and feet! So, aside from the "sneaky basset" theory  :o I have one other question. I know that Koji's litter was turned over by a breeder (as it was an oops between the breeder's female aussie and male berner) to a rescue. The breeder gave up the litter way way early, like right away, so they were bottle fed. Is there any difference in puppy growth when the pups are bottle fed vs. mommy dog fed? Or, at least, is there more likely to be growth stunting or problems in that scenario? I've been looking up dwarfism stuff, but my husband thinks I'm nuts. He thinks Koji's legs will catch up later. I think Koji is a permanent Tootsie Roll and I'm trying to reconcile myself with that! His paws are certainly bigger than my greyhounds or my aussie/boxer's, so he's still a "big paw" of sorts, I guess. ???

OMG - too funny! I know lots of people love the little paws, so I don't mean to say anything disparraging, but yeah, the little yippers are a bit much. You either like them or you just - don't! Good job Loki! Way to put her in her place with out making a snack out of her! Great name, by the way! Are you in to Norse mythology, or The Mask movies?

I haven't gotten to know everyone here yet - what kind of pup is Faust? Good idea to talk to the store manager. You know, the messed up thing is that if something terrible had happened due to the cart guy taunting and teasing Faust, no doubt it would be you guys that would be held responsible for taking a "monster" in public. Hopefully, the store and the cart guy's caretakers can work with him on that for his own safety. That kind of behavior would be dangerous to other people, too,  if he were to try to distract a service dog like that - can you imagine? Poor Faust - how confused he must have been! Again, don't know all your names yet, so I don't know if Jay is a grown up or not, but I guess the only other thing to have done would have been to put Faust in the car and then run back out to the cart guy to tell him that he needed to back off. Sounds like you worked it all out though. How upsetting!

looks like it was taken off You Tube due to copyright infringement, so it was evidently not sanctioned by the corporation. Just some @sshole's idea of humor, I guess. Pardon my language, but I'm sure you feel me....

Aaawww...Kitty witty!!! Too cute!! I am out of room for fostering large things, but I do foster kitties. I just brought home 9 yesterday - a litter of three and a momma cat with five babies. OMG they are sooooo cute!! Fostering helps me keep from adopting everything that wanders in my path!

What an awesome rescue, and what a sweet puppy face!! You rock! He looks a little "bear"ish, but since that name is taken on this board  ;D , how about Magnus? For whatever reason, that's what keeps popping into my head. It's from the movie Matilda. He was the father of Miss Honey, the super sweet school teacher, but the mean, mean Aunt Trunchbull did bad things and sad things happened. No need for detail. It's a Roald Dahl story, and a good movie, although a bit disturbing! Anyway, Magnus is cool.

Medical Conditions & Diseases / Re: Dalmation with allergies?
« on: July 16, 2007, 10:45:17 am »
Hi and welcome! I once had a dalmation that had "dalmation bronzing disease". Her hair would thin and look like it had a yellowish stain on it, but just in one area on her back. It was odd looking, but turned out to be no big deal. As I recall, it was treated with just a vitamin or mineral pill of some kind (over the counter - not expensive) or something that she took every day. Nothing serious. Good luck!
