Another Niko update - all his bloodwork came back normal except thyroid. So, it's all good news, really, He'll have to take an inexpensive thyroid pill every day for the rest of his life, and that will help him gain some weight back and get some spunk back. It's nothing that affects his quality of life, though, and all his major organs and systems are functioning just right! We are very relieved. The one wierd thing is that there was nothing in the blood work that offers any clues as to why he had a stroke a month or so ago. But, normal is normal, so I'm not going to argue! Thanks for your support! I have pix of him to post, but I still need to format them so they are small enough to fit on here.

OK, I know this is an old thread, but OH MY GOD what a cute cute puppy!!! If Maddox's mommy is still on BPO and happens to be reading this thread, please post updated pix! I have never had such a heart wrenching reaction to a puppy picture before! (Even my own - shhhhh! Don't tell them!) Oh, I want a Swiss Rottador too!!!!!

Here's  Koji at 13 weeks. He's a bundle of energy and I've had no luck in getting a full body shot yet!

I've heard "double the weight at 4 months" and I've heard "double the weight at 6 months" and all kinds of other "formulas". In anyone's actual experience, is there any truth to it, or is it all just a matter of being patient and waiting to see what your pup turns into? I've heard that pups whelped by humans (bottle fed) don't get as big, and I've heard that pups altered before a certain age (especially the boys) don't get as big. Just wondered what was true and what was just jibber jabber.....Koj i (berner/aussie mix) is 14 weeks today and weighs about 18 pounds. His feet are gigantic and his tail is like 10 feet long, but his legs are still a bit stumpy. He was a bottle baby, and he's not neutered yet.

Update on Niko - CBC is normal. He's not anemic, and his white and red blood cells are ok, so he appears to have no infections. I'll find out the rest on Monday, but, so far so good!

OK, let's see. Tani LOVES to chase lizards. I'm in Florida, so there are little chameleons everywhere - they scatter wherever you walk. She will spend as much time as I let her stalking and chasing them. As far as I know, though, her efforts have gone unrewarded! :(  Koji, the new BP, I have nicknamed "the Ant Bully" because he totally stalks poor little tiny ants. He ends up stomping his big puppy paw on them, then licking them up. Eeeew. Niko, the old greyhound, doesn't do the toy thing so much. He likes to do one lap around the yard, then pick out a spot in the sun, lay down, then roll on his back and stretch. It's the only time he looks youthful again!

Looking forward to hearing back from a happy, healthy mommy about a happy healthy baby! We'll be thinking of you!

I took Niko to the vet today - he's lost 5 pounds in a week because he stopped eating. We did a full blood panel and urine screen, and I should start to get some results tomorrow morning and the rest on Monday. They're testing everything possible from head to toe and they gave me antibiotics incase he has a gum infection that is making eating painful. If his bloodwork is all clear, I'll go ahead with his dental cleaning, but they didn't want to put him under with his recent unexplained drop in weight. I will keep you all posted on the labs.

I saw this web site link on here a week or so ago and just now got around to checking it out. I successfully wasted at least two hours so far.

It's www.pikipimp.c om

I can't remember who posted it originally, but if you can find the original thread, there are some hillarious doggie pics there.

The tragedy at the Shiner Refinery almost got me in trouble. My husband says I'm on my computer too much, so here I am reading all about the "incident" while he's telling me some story. Every so often I'm saying "mmmhmmm" while I read, when I suddenly bust out with a giggle I can't supress any more and he whips around and says "What's so funny!" Oooh, it was hard to get out of that one!

Tattle tattle tattle. Those people need to learn. You know that's what you want to do anyway. None of us could sleep at night letting something like that go. If your neighbor ever confronts you, all you have to do is say that you have no idea who made the complaint. If they say they saw the doggie cops at your house, you say that they were talking to all the neighbors and you have no idea who made the original complaint.

Rottweiler Discussions / Re: Ate a bird ewww.. Gross story
« on: June 28, 2007, 02:14:20 am »
Oh, that is so nasty! When I was in college, was renting a guest house from this mean old bat. She let me get a puppy, so I had a cute little GSD mix, Matea. One day, Matea snatched a bird right out of the air and chewed it all up into a bloody compact little ball with a little birdy foot sticking out. The mean old bat made me get rid of my dog and said she didn't want a "killer dog" on her property. The pup was not more than 6 months at the time!!!!! Still, it was gross. Not get rid of the dog gross, but totally gross nonetheless.

We're going to be moving (in about a year) from Central Florida to Northern California. Any advice on driving the big paws vs. flying them? The car trip would be long and tedious, but they know the car. A plane would be shorter and over with, but stressful, even with doggie drugs. Any opinions?
