Helpful Groups & Dogs in Need / Re: Question about rescues
« on: April 28, 2008, 12:04:42 pm »
I certainly feel better. I just found it strange a rescue needed to advert for dogs, usually there are so many needing rescue, no need for that! And the fact they only take purebreds...ju st made me jumpy. I was under the impression most rescues would take in mixed as well as pure.

Learn something new everyday, no matter our age I guess:) Thanks again for all the help.

They could just be trying to get the word out to owners looking to place their BCs that they can help.

I hope so! But I'd feel much better checking it out for some reason, it is a gut thing, lol.

Great idea! I'll search now and send them an email. Appreciate the help! We have had a rash of "rescues" who have turned out to be not a  rescue but a pit fighting group looking for bait:( So this just makes me nervous.

Thanks, I didn't think it sounded right. Any idea on who to contact other than the newspaper that is carrying the ad? Humane society?

Helpful Groups & Dogs in Need / Question about rescues

Would a legit rescue need to advertise in the local paper for dogs?
This ad seems very strange to me, but it could just be me so I am asking....

Awe, the first is always bittersweet! In another year you will be loving the fact that you can send him to the store for last minute items you need! And you get a driving break when you just don't wanna do it! I hated when my first started driving, broke my heart he was growing up on me. Now I have three drivers and one waiting until Nov when he can start and I love it! I dislike driving anyway, so that helps, lol. And of course, the pups love it as they get to go much more...the excuse the kids use to go someplace, the dogs wanna, lol.

LOL!!! How adorable! FWIW, mine would have the food gone before I even knew they had it!

We had people "treat" Rella. When meeting somebody new, they were told to ignore her until she sat down, then they gave her a treat. Now she looks at everybody as a treat source..lol.

Not sure if this is in canada, but one of my posters posted this the other day and it looks like a great place to work! She makes about 27 an hour and sets her own hours.

Apply online, doing instore promotions. Pay ranges from 70 - 85 per 5 hour event depending on where you live. If are licensed hairstylist, chef, bi-lingual etc make sure that is known. I make 27 an hour for the makeup events.

It is fun for me as I am a people person. You need own m/w, elect skillet, toaster oven for cooking events, but they pay you for those (tax free). They do offer non cooking events also. Book yourself online when you want to work by zip code and radius you want.

So if someone is a self worker and can work with out supervision they are good to go. Need internet, email, computer/printer to book, print instructions and report results.

After my own research I also opted to feed Bluebuffalo large breed puppy to our Saint pup. Rella has been on it since 4 months old and she is now 13 months and weighs 115-120. Even though our vet recommended science diet, he has admitted she is doing beautifully on the BB. Her coat is beautiful, she has tons of energy and she gains weight slowly.

But I have talked to people who think BB is the worst way to go, so I agree with everyone here that we all have our own opinions on just what to feed....lol.

Divorce is like dealing with death. You must allow yourself to grieve, and that includes the anger we feel when dealing with death. Your feelings are valid, now just give yourself permission to work through them.
