Has anyone given their dog these? I have been interested in them, but I don't know if I can bring myself to spend the amount of money they cost on a dog chew. I mean, if they last and dog's like em, it's worth it of course. Also, I wonder if they're too small for giant dogs? I know they have jumbo size. Just looking to see if anyone else has tried them!

Here are some pics at the dog park today. It was sooo muddy and gross. And naturally, Miles had to splash in every single mud puddle he could find. (There were many.) He even thought it would be nice to sit in one, too. ::)

Holy Cow. Miles is getting pickier and pickier each day! I swear. I have the hardest time getting him to eat these days. He will only eat when he feels like it...which is fine, but it seems like he eats barely anything. For example, today....he has eaten maybe 3 cups of food. That's half the amount I attempt to give him. Lately he's been eating 4 cups, but no more. And only if I add somethin special to it. And it better be something new and delicious. I try to hold out and see if he'll eat it without it, then he ends up eating just 2 cups. If I add stuff he'll eat 4...sometimes 6, but only once every 2 days or so. Is this ok? Is he just not as hungry since he's 9 months old now. Not going through such huge growth spurts. Or is he just spoiled and a picky eater? Should I try and get him to eat the whole 6 cups, or is it ok if he doesnt? Why can't he be like a normal dog and enjoy eating?

Have you guys ever heard of dognamic.com? It looks sort of like those paw prints you guys were talking about that you used to have on here. It's sort of like myspace for dogs. hahaha It's cute. Here is Miles' page that I've started.

Sooooo, today I was at the pet store, planning on getting a couple bones for Miles, and that is it. And I left with 10 bones, a "Tuffies" toy, and a bone shaped piece of tire. Hahaha. I'm pretty sure I am always freaking out about spending money on myself, but when it comes to my dog, I spend money like it's going out of style! hahaha I'm crazy. ::)

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else has these "Tuffies", the world's toughest soft dog toy. It looks tough, but and it was quite a pretty penny, so I'm hoping it lasts longer than an hour.

And who knew a piece of rubber could be soo interesting to a dog!? He loves his bone shaped piece of rubber!

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Your Dog in Times Square
« on: March 19, 2008, 04:39:25 pm »
Ok, so Purina Dog Chow is putting on this contest where you can upload a picture of your dog, and they will be featured in Times Square. That isn't the contest part. If you enter, your dog will be featured.

The contest is that they will pick one person, and their dog to go to New York and probably be a "Purina Dog". In the rules it says if you are selected you have to talk in favor of Purina and yadda yadda yadda.

SO, I know many people here would never feed their dogs Purina Dog Chow (I would be one of them), but how cool is it that your dog is going to be shown on the huge screens in Times Square!!!!

I entered so I can see his pic up there on those big ol' screens!!! Now, I certainly would deny the grand prize because I don't want Miles to be a spokesdog for Purina.
They will send you an e-mail with the approximate time your dog's pic will be featured on June 19th, so you can watch it. (Either in Times Square or they have a live feed on the website I guess.)

Here's the link if anyone else wants to enter.

Food Discussion & Information / Miles' First Raw Bone!
« on: March 18, 2008, 03:30:41 pm »
Ok, so I was at the pet store today, getting some bully sticks and trying to think of another chew that is decent for him to have, and I cam across the freezer section. I decided to get him a raw bone. I got him Nature's Variety Lamb Bone. I'm sort of afraid to give it to him though for some reason. hahaha Not afraid, but just...you know. It's new. I've never given ANY of my past dogs anything raw.

Just a couple questions....

1. Do I let him just eat the meat off, or can I allow him to gnaw on the bone afterward?

2. How often can I give him these bones if he likes it? Can it be like a 3 times a week thing, or is it better as a once a week thing. Or even less?

3. What are the chances that it will give him booty blowout...or stop him up like no tomorrow? :P

Thanks in advance!!!

Discussions & Information on Grooming / Never Again
« on: March 17, 2008, 11:20:39 am »
Ok, so it is totally muddy and gross outside right now from all the melting snow, and this HUGE Saint Bernard came running after Miles out of nowhere while we were on our walk. Naturally, Miles and I were both very excited.

The owner wasnt far behind, and Miles and the Saint played for a little while. Well, Miles got SOOOOO muddy from him rolling around on the ground with this big boy. So then, the Saint took a pee, lifted his leg, and miles ran right to the side of him while he was peeing...and he peed all over Miles!!!

So, covered with Mud and Pee...we make the trek home. And in the tub he goes. It's not the easiest thing coaxing a 100 pound puppy in a bathtub when he KNOWS he's going to have a bath.

Ok, so I eventually coax him in with treats sitting all around the tub. YES! I finally got him in. Ok, then I forgot a cup....so I had to go out to the kitchen, and naturally he jumps out...water everywhere. So then I finally coax him back in, and he decides water is so much fun...and he starts splashing and splashing and splashing the water EVERYWHERE. Ok...so after getting splashed numerous time, then him shaking the water off him about 8 times after that, I finally get one side rinsed...one side left to go...and he somehow snuck out of my hands.

By this time, he will not get back in the tub for ANYTHING. I ended up having to rinse him on the tile floor.

Needless to say, my bathroom now looks like a tornado went through it, followed by torrential rains....And I look like I was standing in it.

Never again will I give Miles a bath in the bathtub....

(P.S. I don't know what I was thinking.)

Behavior, Housebreaking, Obedience / I have a problem
« on: March 05, 2008, 06:00:19 pm »
Ok, so Miles is too smart for me. He knows many basic commands. "Drop it" and "Off" seem to be his favorites. He will now INTENTIONALLY pick something up he shouldn't have because he knows if he drops it he'll get a treat. Now the logical thing to do would keep everything up so he can't get it, but we all know that's not possible! He'll find something! Also, he'll jump up on the counter AND on me because he knows if he gets "off", he'll get a treat. I'm no pro at this training thing, so I need your help! What should I do!? Should I stop giving him treats for those commands? But at the same time, I don't want him to stop listening when he does pick things up and jump on the counter, etc unintentionall y (if you wanna call it that). Help!

Medical Conditions & Diseases / CRACKED TEETH!?!?!?!
« on: February 16, 2008, 07:53:26 am »
Oh my god!! I'm freaking out right now! I was just looking at Miles' teeth and it looks as though two of the top teeth are CRACKED. There is a tiny little line down two of them!!!! He is just a puppy!! How in the world has he cracked his teeth already!? Is this NORMAL? I surely do not think so.
