Medical Conditions & Diseases / bumps after spay surgery?
« on: October 27, 2008, 01:17:43 pm »
My little Jasmin had her stitches removed about 2 weeks ago. Yesterday I noticed that at the start of the stitch line a lump had formed. Doesn't look pussy or anything but it is about the size of a kidney bean and a dark color. Could this be seuture reaction or does that really exist?

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Bad puppy breath!!
« on: October 16, 2008, 12:33:31 pm »
My Berner is just over 6 months old and her breath is horrendous at times!! My Pyr has never had funky breath but my pup is pretty bad. No teeth problems that I am aware of and she eats good food. Any suggestions/ideas?

Bernese Mountain Dog Discussions / Berner puppy size
« on: September 11, 2008, 11:53:32 am »
Hey Berner owners.... as the proud owner of my first berner I am noticing some major differences from my pyr which is cool to experience. One of the things I am curious about is the size. I know they are large breeds - not as large as the pyr's however my girl is MUCH smaller at 5 months than my pyr...like half the size.
Is this typical? what is the average growth rate of the berners? What size are some of the other berner babies out there that are on this site?
thanks.

Food Discussion & Information / lovin the Evo p**
« on: August 29, 2008, 05:36:58 pm »
Thanks everyone for the Evo recommendation s.. I have noticed such a difference in Marley's stool! it is amazing. He must be retaining much more from his food than he was on the Canidae because his elimination is half!
I have him on 4 cups and a half can of the Evo wet food - he's lovin it and so am I ;) ;) So worth the extra $$

Thanks for the great advice.

Bernese Mountain Dog Discussions / Allergies?
« on: August 16, 2008, 04:04:48 pm »
Any one have a berner with allergies? I have read that it isn't a "typical" breed traite...howev er what is "typical" right? I think my little girl is allergic to something outside...gras s, ragweed..?? when I bring her in from her nightly play time (where she plays in the yard not her pen) her left eye is sometimes really red, half closed and she is always trying to paw at it... anyone else ever experience this? Not necessarily breed specific - I am trying to diagnose what could be the cause.

Never had a puppy puppy (under 9 months) so I don't know if this is a puppy thing, a breed thing or an individual trait(hope not) but my berner puppy has the tempermant right now of a golden!! yikes. Will she calm down? LOL

Medical Conditions & Diseases / 4 days of diarrea
« on: August 04, 2008, 05:20:47 pm »
Marley has had diarrea for about 4 days now. He hasn't changed his behaviour at all - but the loose stool just pours out ( sorry to be graphic). I have him on boiled rice and hamburger as I read that is what usually clears it up however it doesn't seem to be helping? any other ideas or should I be taking him into the vet?

« on: July 13, 2008, 05:54:14 pm »
WOW how much fur sheds out of your pyr's? Marley didn't shed this much last year...I can literally pull chunks out of him and I brush him every other day... could something else be wrong?

Food Discussion & Information / raw food diet....and kibble?
« on: July 11, 2008, 07:21:43 pm »
Hey
I am slowly incorporating raw food into my dogs diet. I have one really picky eater though and will only eat beef. NO Veggies and hardly any chicken or fish? is it ok to still feed half kibble to gain some of the other ingredients at the same time I feed raw?
Advice please....

Great Pyrenees Discussions / Adult Pyr weight- AND PUPPY PICS!
« on: June 18, 2008, 03:16:29 pm »
Hey everyone
I have added puppy pics to attract readers and incourage feedback to my post hee hee hee..

Curious.. how much do your adult pyr males weigh? I know this is a vague topic as every dog is different but I am looking for a high level idea here. Marley just came back from the vet. He is under weight - no worms detected and eats all his food when it is out. I have even started him back on half puppy food to increase his calories. Nothing seems to put pounds on him. He is a big guy as far as height and he over 2 years old. His weight is 106 but more importantly I can feel his ribs and his tail? bone - (bones on his back above his butt)
