Goodluck to all of the truckers and thier families. Sometimes extreme measures need to be taken to open peoples eyes to things they arent aware of. I was not aware truckers hadnt had a raise in so long. So I hope the strike has a positive outcome for the people who do the hard work! Good luck and stay safe.  Brooklily's mum

heehee He opens the door with his nose! quite problematic , but cute and tricky! My friends dog can even open doorknobs with her paws.  I  agree with the hook and eye idea for now till he is trained. I tried babygates with brooklily and she simply slammed through them like
" is this supposed to stop me?" The front door her training is going great , with sit , wait, and ok. It took a week or so.If Brooklily is willing to learn it , im thinking your boy will too.  The back door to the yard , I dont enforce as diligently, because its fenced in,  so we are not doing so well there. one hook to keep closed and one to keep open . good luck and welcome!!!

While I have no suggestions besides HAM, haha I can relate. My dog before Brooklily was a hundred pound plus American Bulldog/ Mastiff mix. She would just lay down whenever the h*ll she wanted to....mid-walk. Once when I was walking her she laid down in the cross walk. She looked at me like" um, ya , Im all done walking. Whats the issue?"  Im sure I looked like a complete moron in the middle of the street doing everything i could think of to get her to move. Once my boyfriend took her out for a quick pee before work and she decided it was a fine day for a nap in the sun. down she went till he finally had to pick her up and carry her in the house. Then of course i had to listen to the fact his back hurt for 2 days and how he was late for work. My poor dad had her pull a stunt on him too. Well he couldnt lift her and he had to sit on the sidewalk for a half hour waiting till she wanted to move again. All the while  cars were stopping to see if this older man was hurt. He was very embarrased! So while I dont have any great advise, I do feel for you. ;) The only thing that finally worked was to walk away from her, while I continued to talk to her. She would freak and run after me. Maybe that will work for you.( theres always ham.)

well it looks like we will have to have some kind of ridiculous tub party for phelan, roscoe and brooklily. It would be quite embarrassing, with peoples opinion of theses breeds looking all tough, there would be roscoe in the shower, phelan in the bubbles, and brooklily with her head under water. hahaha. What about monty is he a water bulldog as well?

Brooklily loves the water as well. Warm or cold it doesnt matter. She would jump in the ocean in the middle of winter if I would let her. sooooo its into the tub with her. Mess, mess, mess, but I digress. She also puts her whole head under water , which I think is quite weird.Anyway i asked the vet about this and she said, as long as there is no soap and you dry out the ears well, it shouldnt be a problem. ( darn bulldogs arent supposed to like the water lol) I dont know if the temp. of the water makes a difference, but enjoy your group showers for now. hahaha .   I think I have a head under water pic. if I do i will include it.

holy crap.!!!!!!!  I have spent 20 years working on self control and I dont think I would have had the self control you displayed. You did all the right things, by going to get help and not just chasing the bastard down and having to be involved in a fight where you could have gotten injured. Good for you. Your smart actions saved your pup. I am so happy you and your dogs are doing well, and are safe and sound. Please post as to what happens to the person who did this.  If you can find out WHY he would steal a dog, it would be helpful so we can all be more aware. Have a safe and peaceful night, full of wet happy dog kisses.  Brooklily's mum

aaaarrrrggghhh h.  The frustration at stupidity!!! Heres two. As i have posted b4, Brooklily and I are working on her leash aggression. Soooooooo we have lots of incidents.

About one week ago we are walking in the morning and I see down the street a mother and her daughter walking to the bus stop with thier two yorkies. Im thinking , fine , everybodys leashed up , and Brooklily doesnt usually  get upset at little dogs. We will keep going , i will stay relaxed, (thanks to the help here, saying my heart rate effects brooklily's reaction) No problem right? Well the little girl, maybe 6 or so, sees Brooklily , her mother HANDS THE GIRL the leashes ( g.d. retractable ones at that) and she runs at us full speed with her dogs. They are barking like crazy, and about 12 feet in front of the girl. I am like CRAP!!!! Cant control my heart rate now lol. i have my hand up and I am yelling NO at the little girl. She keeps coming, no control of her babies, I start yelling STOP, in my mean voice. So She stops about two feet from Brooklily. The mother comes running behind yelling at me "Whats the problem?" I start... Please dont let your child walk the dogs if she doesnt know how!.... please dont run at dogs you dont know!.....Please put them on a leash that works for the city !(very busy street). All the while Brooklily is in full snarling mode , My adrenaline is way up , my BPO lesson of being calm is shot to h*ll. The mother looks at me and in the most sarcastic tone says" we thought we would like to meet you , we have seen you walking your dog'" Her daughter is close to tears and I want to tell them i am only concerned for thier dogs and the little girl, but forget it. If she is so stupid that she thinks I was concerned about Brooklily and my saftey, she is not worth it. She makes a smarmy face at me and walks away.
Well Big loss for me huh?Ohhhhh we could have been friends. ( that is my sarcastic voice. ;D )
I guess im still mad .Because you know it would have been Brooklily that got in trouble :(. I am ranting. I wont go into the other one cause i will be typing forever. Ahhhhh venting is good. :)

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / teeth or tounge pics
« on: March 06, 2008, 02:28:25 am »
Brooklily cant have both in her mouth at the same time. Its either teeth out or tounge out. Sometimes her tounge is out so far, she sleeps with it under her chin. Im going to try and sneak up on her and get a pic of that some night.
