Yup, the Zombie howl, thats a good name for it! We had a friend stay over a few years ago,and Ben let out a howl during the night, scared the crap out of him. All three of my newfs snore like druken sailors, nice!

My Older Newf throughout his life, has occasionally let out this blood curdling howl in his sleep and doesn't wake up. I though, ok, just him, but the two pups have been doing the same thing, only a little higher pitched  :D. Just wondering if any other Newf owners ever heard their dogs howl in their sleep?

You think you might be crazy? We have three of the buggars! We got two at the same time at the age of 7 weeks. All I can tell you is that I would want more! Like your newborn, embrace the stages, they make your day, and you will laugh at them when you look back. The stuff they wreck and chew  are only things, they can be replaced. Now, I'm not advocating letting them go wild and do what they want. They need guidance and patience for a little while, and that small investment lasts their and your lifetime. I have had many breeds throughtout my life, but these Newfs are just precious. Read about crating, it really is the best way to get a leg up on things.

Our neighbor across the street has a a big tabby that hates all dogs, except for my newfies? I've seen it many times where cats are just not intimidated by my newfs, I think the newfs just give off the "whatever" vibe. Whenever the neighbor's cat sees my dog in the window he goes nuts wanting to see them. When we do bring them over they sniff him and move on. The cat particularly likes the older newf, rubbing and walking between his legs. Ben, the big newf has the most halarious look like "dude have some self respect" when the cat is doing this. He clearly is not impressed, pretty funny.

Oh Jeeze, My 7 month old Male Newf is already a "Lean" 110lbs! My 6.5 month old female Newf is 95lbs, and my nine yr. old Newf is 165lbs. Yup, we have central vac and unlimited back yard. They all sleep on the bed too. You have to hurry up and find your spot, 'cause if you don't yer out of luck, they aint moving! They are soooooo much fun! I just have to find nasal strips for them, or ear plugs for me, because they each snore like drunken sailors!

My wife and I have been owned by dogs our entire lives. We've had many breeds, and our Newfies really do top them off.  They snore, loudly, sneak up and lay behind you (we've been on our butts many times!)Our male is so lazy that if he is in front of a door you need to open, we have to physically move him by tugging his legs, it frigging halarious! We love 'em so much we are getting another new Newfie pup July 1st. When we are cooking the dogs litter themselves in the kitchen making us constantly walking over, on and around them, would not have it any other way! We feel truly blessed to share our lives with such amazing, gentle giants! Oh, we have an industrial central vac system.
