I beleive both dogs drool. Judge drools after he eats and if he is excitted. Same as the Newf lovers beautiful Drake. Im sure that you will fall in love and as I say it ends up being the same as cleaning some of the stuff we MOMs cleanup after our human babys. You love them so much that the slobber is just part of them. LOL Well not once it hits the floor. HEHEHE
Good luck!! I really cant wait to see your new baby when you get him/her.

Judge also will eat almost anything without it upsetting his tummy. Hot dogs are his all time fav.We also feed him a little of whatever we eat. I know lots of people do not agree but I wouldnt want to eat DOG FOOD every meal Would You?? The only things I found that gave him the runs was he got into the cat food and another time I changed his dog food. Gotta make you wonder what they put in some of those dog foods??

Thanks for all the replies. I didnt really get the whole story from the breeder eather. Ive noticed quite a few pups with it though when Im looking on the net.Like I said it is likely just an Old Wives Tale  Maybe someone will come on and see it.

The spot I am talking about is the brown one on the top of Judges head.  :) Every time I see a new pic of Spotakiss I have to laugh he is the CUTES fluff ball.If we didnt get so much snow here I would love to get a long coat St.

Hi Sara
I too HAD a car but with 3 kids it became to small quite quickly. Our St. would never fit in the back of a car with the kids. If you have 1 car seat it would be quite hard to fit a big dog in there as well. Untill he is around 1 year anyway. We have a truck now and Judge really likes the ride in the back. He gets way too hot in the front with us anyhow. Hope this helps. A mini van would work well too.

Here is Judge enjoying the FREEZING lake. This past weekend. He didnt go far but seemed to really enjoy himself. The ice just went out about 3 weeks ago and there is still a bit of snow so Im sure it was quite cold.

Hi Sara. We have a St. He is absolutely the best with my kids. He loves to go with us werever we go and LOVES the lake. He is BIG though. My parents had a Newfoundland dog who was very big as well. He was great with kids too.I think that whichever breed you and your hubby pick will be well worth it. Just dont forget how big they get. You kinda overlook that though because of there great temperment and they are so loyal. Very smart as well. Our St. doesnt bark that much eather. Not like some of the smaller dogs. He only barks when he needs to.
Dont know if this helps any but good luck and keep us posted.\

All the Danes and other types of dogs on here are absolutely beautiful and they do not look evil at all! Although I know my Dane Sadie is kind of evil at times! She loves to chew up paper into little pieces and her all time favorite is a fresh new roll of toilet paper right off the holder in the bathroom :-\ She has to work for those ones though!Unlike the ones that are left sitting there with her name all over them LOL!! I try to remember to shut the bathroom doors when she is left alone but if I happen to forget Im sure she notices as soon as I walk out the door!
Her second favourite thing to do is to go for a run in the muddy swamp in my backyard with her good buddy Judge, that makes for a nice mess in the house.Judge is a St Bernard who weighs about 150 lbs and Sadie is about 120 lbs and those bodies hold alot of MUD! >:(
Hope to hear some of your interesting Dane favorites!!!
Have A Great Day! ;D

Day z is sooo cute.
Judge has been really good at going outside to pee. LOL We made a real big deal evey time he went outside and it worked wonders. When he did have an accident we just used a firm voice and told him NO. He is a very smart dog and caught on very quick.
Hope this hlps.

Saint Bernard Pictures / Monks cap??
« on: April 27, 2005, 07:00:41 pm »
Hi. Just wondering if anyone knows the story behind a St.s monk cap. Judge has what I was told is a monks cap on the top of his head. I thought I would be able to find some info. on the net but I havent seen any as of yet. The breader said that the Monks thought that dogs with this mark were Special. ???? Judge is very Special but it would be nice to know if there is any OLD WIVES TALE behind it.

Thanks Karen

I have the same problem?? ;D with Judge. He follows me everywere. He also sleeps on my side of the bed (on the floor). I cant go to the washroom by myself either. Im used to it though and I know that its because Im his Mommy.I let him sleep on the floor beside my bed when I relized that he wasnt to impressed with the crating thing. Kinda like letting you kids cry to fall asleep. I was never too good at that eather. Needless to say there was NO ROOM left in my bed for him anyhow. He just waits around untill I go to bed then follows me and falls fast asleep. His SNORING now puts me to sleep as well.
I think this is a personal decission and it will all work out in the end. Good luck and keep us posted.
